Supremely Lucky was a nice winner at 10/1 to give profit for the top 3 across the two races.
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 4
Wincanton
2.10 Darlac 169; Springfield Fox 151; Ballycross 150
2.45 Mustang Alpha 148; Stormy Flight 139; And The New 138Chelmsford
5.30 Sun Power 109; Watchable 104; Edraak 103; Last Page 103
8.00 Recon Mission 102; Rovaniemi 99; Leodis Dream 97Very wet and cold up here at the moment, but hopeful that Musselburgh will soak up the rain well enough for a decent two day meeting to take place. Sandown’s Saturday meeting is now all chases, unusual these days but the Royal Artillery meeting used to be and all chase affair.

Weather dependent for what’s actually on tomorrow, but Musselburgh looks OK if likely to be testing. Sunday would require the course to miss forecast snow.

2.55 Mount Mews 145; Chapel Stile 142; Keeper Hill 141February 7, 2021 at 16:38 #1522057My nightmare horse Taxmeifyoucan snatched the hurdle at Musselburgh. A decent horse on his day, but invariably I’m on him when he has an off day and let him run on his good days!
A light load for the next couple of days and weather may well have a say for the turf meetings.
MONDAY FEBRUARY 8
Carlisle
3.10 Haul Us In 128; Leverock Lass 121; Kapga De Lily 113TUESDAY FEBRUARY 9
Taunton
3.30 Broadclyst 140; Cuban Pete 138; Eclair Surf 137; Orrisdale 137February 9, 2021 at 16:10 #1522340Not much action other than artificial surface at the moment. I missed this evening’s race so here are ratings and one qualifying contest at Wolves tomorrow.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 9
Southwell 6.15 Tynecastle Park 94; Alfredo 90; Indigo Times 90WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 10
Wolverhampton 6.15 Revolutionise 117; Sir Maximilian 111; Keyser Soze 108February 9, 2021 at 20:09 #1522385A nice 11/1 winner at Southwell this evening and I got lucky betting wise. I’m using Shortest Priced of Top 3 to decide my selection and at SP that was Tynecastle Park at 17/2. However, when I took a snap shot of the market the winner was at the shortest price and the subsequent bet (at a tad over 13/1 Betfair SP) has put me tidily in profit for the year. I suspect there will be these difference between my bets and the ‘qualifying selection’ but I would expect it would even itself out in the long run.
February 10, 2021 at 18:36 #1522510Fill your boots time today with Revolutionise a tidy 3/1 winner in a weakly contested Class 2 race where teh favourite looked up against it at the weights.
No races qualifying tomorrow and I suspect we will probably be artificial surface races only through to Sunday. Six inches of snow and counting in our area of Dunfermline!
February 11, 2021 at 15:51 #1522618No all-weather contests at a good enough level for me tomorrow and, assuming the jumps card are called off at the weekend, not awful lot better Saturday and Sunday. I may be forced to rate some Class 4 handicaps to give myself some, and we aren’t overloaded with those!
Current spell of weather reminds me of my youth when there would be much talk over preceding weeks and days about Newbury’s Schweppes Gold Trophy before it was frozen or snowed off! Bit more imaginative these days and it’s likely to be run next Saturday if the freezer is still turned on this week.
Dunfermline Weather update – Bright and gloriously sunny today but perishing cold.
February 12, 2021 at 15:58 #1522760Sparse action tomorrow and waiting on Lingfield inspection for the 4-runenr contest there. Two of these haven’t run in handicaps, but they have run against horses with ORs so I’ve ‘fudged’ ratings for that race which I’m happy with.
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 13
Lingfield
2.00 Twilight Heir 108; Charlie Fellowes 107; Water Of Leith 94Wolverhampton
7.15 Lord Riddiford 109; Lihou 109; Tone The Barone 106February 13, 2021 at 19:43 #1522978A good day for the figures today with two top rated winners at 3/1 and 8/1 and the finishing places at Lingfield reflected the figures.
SUNDAY FEBRUARY 14
Exeter
3.40 Soupy Soups 167; Another Venture 154; Late Romantic 154; Yalltari 152
4.10 Flemcara 169; Perfect Man 167; Ask Dillon 163; Agrapart 162; Champagne Platinum 162; Southfields Harvest 162; Potters Corner 162February 14, 2021 at 20:33 #1523084MONDAY FEBRUARY 15
Warwick
3.55 Mister Whittaker 162; Spiritofthegames 160; Gala Ball 160Wolverhampton
5.30 Lucky Deal 109; Charlie D 109; True Destiny 108
6.30 Sky Defender 110; Power Of States 110; Crownthorpe 110Three very competitive events and little to choose between the top few in each event. Only 3lbs cover all bar one of the 5.10 field, and only a slightly bigger spread covers the whole field in the 6.10. Good thing is that these top class A/W handicaps do work otu very well.
February 15, 2021 at 16:52 #1523158Some decent midweek contests as jump racing returns after the cold spell. The 2.15 staying chase at Catterick looks a very decent contest for a midweek Class 3.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 16
Catterick
2.15 Schiehallion Munro 149; Who’s In The Box 148; Justforjames 144
2.45 Oscars Leader 137; Pop The cork 137; Maskada 129Newcastle

2.45 Maskada 129; Pyramid Place 125; The Some Dance Kid 120
February 16, 2021 at 21:12 #1523333A couple of short priced winners today, King Of The South at 2/1 and Pyramid Place at 1/1, both qualifiers as shortest of top 3.

6.00 Combine 99; Protected Guest 98; Indigo Times 97February 18, 2021 at 17:11 #1523512With one race to go a nice collection of winners top or near top today and I was on the right ones myself. I typed Belargus’s name wrong because I couldn’t read my own writing, due presumably to creeping old age!
Some interesting contests tomorrow warming up for a weekend of cracking handicaps. Decent strength in depth amongst the Northern steeplechasers at the moment and some useful contenders for the Kelso Class 2 staying handicap at 2.50. I hold the top rated in particularly high regard. Fakenham also have a decent contest and they have done better with fields sizes over the past year and just a pity their faithful members can’t be there.
