Surely sprinter Sacre at 1/2 is one to put in a whole load of doubles or treble’s if you’re feeling a bit cheeky
As with any horse for Cheltenham 1/2 is about the price between now and then that they reach the course. So backing at that price 8 weeks ahead is a punt that’s not really worth taking.
He may be 1/3 on the day so why risk for a gnats chuff of a point?January 14, 2013 at 18:59 #426302Surely sprinter Sacre at 1/2 is one to put in a whole load of doubles or treble’s if you’re feeling a bit cheeky

I’m only 20 so I’ve only been horse betting for 2 years and have never really done ante-post betting before so thanks for the tip.
January 14, 2013 at 20:22 #426313Does anybody think flemenstar will stay at 2miles or step if he stays at 2mile do you think he ll trouble sprinter sacre? Can never get the image of al ferof destroying spirt son cue card and sprinter sacre up the hill in the supreme novice 2011 surely proves sprinter sacre is not unbeatable. Unlucky to blunder in the Arkle think he ll be a revelation this season gold cup winner? Maybea big price up for offer
Sprinter Sacre had a wind operation after the Supreme Novices, which I think you would agree seems to have helped. He also made a collosal error at the last, probably due to his breathing problems. On top of this, he has always been aimed at chasing and was not even the first pick of Barry Geraghty in the Supreme Novices. To say that Al Ferof would have been anywhere near Sprinter Sacre in the Arkle (had he not made the blunder), is ridiculous and chasing is all about jumping anyway.
Al Ferof will certainly be suited by further, as you can get away with mistakes over 3 miles and still come back. It’s a shame he misses the Gold Cup this year, as he would have been an interesting contender.
PS. If you have seen a better jumper than Sprinter Sacre, in the history of National Hunt racing, I would like to watch them, as they must be a sight to behold.

Not only is he a superb jumper but he travels so well in his races too and quickens up with such ease before anything can even challenge him.
Time to get out a loan
January 16, 2013 at 01:29 #426479Best jumpers ever? Arkle and Pendil. Pendil was quicksilver, and it’s a shame so little film is available. SS has the potential, but some way to go yet to match those two
January 16, 2013 at 09:23 #426489Master Minded was seen as the second coming after his first victory. He never lived up to the wild expectations subsequently, despite a host of grade one victories.
Lets hope SS delivers the goods and has some longevity to his career. If he was trained at Ditcheat i’d be more confident of that, but where he is now i’d be happy to bet that by 2015/6 he’s not in training.
January 16, 2013 at 17:19 #426545In retrospect, Master Minded was totally over-rated as a result of his first QM win. When a better batch of competitors came along, Big Zeb and S Europe, he was found wanting, tho I accept his form had probably dipped by then.
January 16, 2013 at 21:38 #426583I’d have loved Flemenstar to have a go at SS in this.

Has anyone actually looked at Flemenstar’s form in 2 mile chases, he has beaten nothing. On all known form he couldn’t beat Sizing Europe, who is the only Irish trained chaser with even a hope in hell of getting anywhere near SS over 2 miles.
January 19, 2013 at 20:12 #426933Printersraces, have you looked at his 2 mile form yourself?
Since losing his first race over fences to Bog Warrior, he has ran over 2m or 2m 1f four times, winning easily on each occasion. The horse can only beat what’s put in front of him surely? He has yet to be hard pressed over the minimum trip.
January 19, 2013 at 21:27 #426937I find it slightly surprising that the most uncompetitive race of the meeting has attracted 8 pages of discussion.
And btw, Flemenstar is the new Beef Or Salmon.

I don’t think you can say he beat Lambro easily, he was fully extended and whipped, to win by 3 1/2 lengths. I just think that over 2 miles he has a lot to prove against Sizing Europe. Also he has never run outside of Ireland and Cheltenham is not your run of the mill course, so will he handle it? There’s another question mark.
February 10, 2013 at 01:20 #429043Tweet from Peter Casey suggested Flemenstar will be aimed at 2-mile
Champion Chase. Can’t see him testing SS, but should make it a spectacleMarch 1, 2013 at 12:11 #430868AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 764
Ignore this post I was being an idiot and got this confused with the Arkle
March 13, 2013 at 15:15 #432477I’m playing it safe and going for 11+ lengths.
