He certainly earned his stripes.
March 13, 2019 at 15:50 #1401769Footpad ran a blinder for Hoiles
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
March 13, 2019 at 15:54 #1401770Not that it made any difference to the result but…. Nico be buying the starter a pint tonight I expect
March 13, 2019 at 16:07 #1401773Oh Politologue…we
youMarch 13, 2019 at 16:08 #1401774To be fair to Hoiles, he took the piss out of himself when reading out the runners in the x-country there.
March 13, 2019 at 16:15 #1401776But he shouldn’t have made the mistake in the first place. If you don’t know the runners, you’re not doing your job properly. That sort of thing shouldn’t be happening in a seller at Southwell, let alone in one of the biggest races of the season.
March 13, 2019 at 16:53 #1401785The plan the other jockeys had to do him for toe late on was the correct tactic but unfortunately none of their mounts had the requiste toe at the end to finish the job off – he was properly vunerable at the last but by the line was pulling clear.
If they are smart Badsworth Boy’s three successive wins is in serious danger but I get the distinct feeling that they are going to bugger around with going up in trip for the KG, which I think is a bad idea.
March 13, 2019 at 18:38 #1401800Can’t wait to see Altior over further; I had a big punt on him an even after the last I was confident, because he stays so well. I appreciate we have had some wonderful speed chasers, Moscow Flyer, Master Minded, Sprinter Sacre, but the true greats have all been staying chasers; Arkle and Kauto Star. Staying chases are more competitive and prestigious (+have bigger prize money). Altior for the KG and then the GC!!!!!
March 13, 2019 at 18:40 #1401801Imagine next yr’s GC, Altior, the first 3 in todays 3 mile novice, whoever comes thru on Friday, and, of course, Cyrname……..
March 13, 2019 at 18:50 #1401808Altior of course just had too much at the end and i thought on track looked in trouble again like last year, i think nico is a fantastic jockey, but i do think he shojld have sat further off saint calvados, didnt need to chase him so early and would surely have only meant he won further
Worth more than the margin suggests for sure…
March 13, 2019 at 19:05 #1401811I’m not sure. There’s a little niggle in my mind about today. Hope I’m wrong.
