Paco Boy, in the form of his life, will take a huge amount of beating.

A medium pace would be great – a stronger pace would be be even better.

Rip Van Winkle has been back in work since March, and I’d be highly surprised if he isn’t trained to the minute for this.
They probably don’t know for sure whether they can beat Goldikova, and AOB, no doubt with RVW’s stud career in mind, is placing him in a win/win situation, in that if the horse gets beaten, he wasn’t fully fit, and if he wins, it makes the performance look all the better anyway.
7/2 might look a very big price come tomorrow evening, and Big Bucks may well be searching for his marbles. :)

Good call. Looks the only value in the race. Track record breaker in Longchamp…so I hear. Half brother to Dalakhani and Daylami. This ought to be his big day, one of the most highly publicised races in the world at a truely international meeting. Dalghar will come good, whether or not its tomorrow is another thing.

Also, Zacinto is a big danger if he runs his best. There is nothing to suggest he will but just as quickly as he went out of form he could fall right back in.

Ouqba on his first run of the season gave Paco Boy a fright and perhaps can be considered to put in a similar if not improved effort here. Always looked to have more than he showed, this horse.

I won’t be laying anything but for anyone who is there are plenty of horses running for you.

Zacinto the value for me at 20/1…

Ran a cracker against Rip Van Winkle over CD last year where RVW only got on top well inside the final furlong to win by just over a length.

Zacinto should have the edge on fitness of the two and will be more at home on the easier surface than has encountered on his last 2 runs.

Easier surface? Official ground come tomorrow morning will be good to firm…

Wouldn’t want to go anyway near Zacinto after the way he was messing around before the Lockinge LTO.

I’m just going on the reported going at the moment which says Good?

Bits and pieces of rain forecast overnight and possibly in the morning may make it an easier surface?

Has ran well on gd/fm anyway at this track and against a horse everyone is raving about and is 17 points lower in the market?

Given the way O’Brien’s horses have been running first time out I can’t see Rip Van Winkle being able to cope with either

    Goldikova

or Paco Boy (besides, there’s nothing to say he even retains the requisite ability to worry either of them when cherry-ripe).

The French mare is the likeliest winner, despite reservations about it being the wrong time of year for her, but I’ve had a little bit each-way on

    Dream Eater

at 80/1. He had a wind operation over the winter, ran a screamer behind Main Aim on his reappearance and looks more than ready for the return to a mile.

    He could just sneak third.

    My 100% book:

Goldikova 15/8, Paco Boy 7/2, Rip Van Winkle 7/2, Dalghar 14/1,

    Ouqba 14/1

    , Zacinto 33/1, Calming Influence 50/1, Cat Junior 100/1, Pipedreamer 300/1, Dream Eater 500/1.

    Ouqba the value bet.

300/1 on Pipedreamer is a tad OTT. Are you going 1/4 odds to place?

Last time Cat Junior ran at Ascot it was in the St James Palace Stakes when 4th behind Henrythenavigator, Ravens Pass and Twice Over only beaten 3.75l

In running trade here gents what you reckon? if he can lead them to 2f pole he’ll be around 30s, he’s 70 on Betfair and you could make £133 for nothing.

    Or a little bit risky?

You taking a massive risk backing Zacinto. Theres no evidence to suggest he’ll do anything other than walk the track.

Dalghar for me. His pedigree and his over all "being there" is enough for me to think that 14/1 is the wrong price. He’s got a monster pedigree…half brother to Dalakhani and Daylami and by Goldikova’s sire. de Royer Dupré is not here for the craic. He’ll take advantage of any horse with question marks that disappoints.

Not suprisingly Rip Van Winkle is drifting but AOB did have 4 winners the other day . However he will have bigger fish to fry later in the season which adds to the problem of plucking up the courage to back him.

If STS was as good as they say surely he would have too many guns for Goldikova who in turn would eat Paco Boy alive on a going day.

Lot of if’s and but about this the biggest one being Rip Van Winkle…..I’d suggest he’ll either win or run a bad un and as I don’t intend backing him the right bet could be a

RFC on Paco Boy and Goldikova

    .

I could not back anything other than Goldikova or Rip Van Winkle here. The rest lack their class/strength. As good as Paco Boy is he has a lot more on his plate than an old warhorse or a seven furlong animal this time. No surprise to see him on the drift. Dalghar couldn’t beat Goldikova on all French form.

Goldikova may have won with a bit in hand, but will Richard Hughes come in for a bit of criticism?
