RVW I reckon has been carrying some injury this season, didn’t look fit beforehand and he was very poor.
Nice to see Zacinto improve though from his disappointing Lockinge effort.

She won with a bit in hand, cause she was idling but Paco Boy’s better over a mile than i thought (against these top class milers)
June 15, 2010 at 13:38 #300797Well I need to start giving Paco Boy a bit more credit…
June 15, 2010 at 13:39 #300798No doubt she is a great horse but did Paco Boy have too much to do? Cant see how you can give her that much ground
June 15, 2010 at 13:41 #300801How did Goldikova touch 42.0 on Betfair?

Always in the right place, always travelling well, quicked clear. Did I miss something? 42.0 Jesus man
June 15, 2010 at 13:43 #300803have got goldikova and paco boy in my TTF, but have paco boy in my yankee
thought hughes had the horse abit too far back and couldnt find the gap quick enough, (as usual), shame!!June 15, 2010 at 13:44 #300805Rip Van Winkle has been back in work since March, and I’d be highly surprised if he isn’t trained to the minute for this.
They probably don’t know for sure whether they can beat Goldikova, and AOB, no doubt with RVW’s stud career in mind, is placing him in a win/win situation, in that if the horse gets beaten, he wasn’t fully fit, and if he wins, it makes the performance look all the better anyway.
7/2 might look a very big price come tomorrow evening, and Big Bucks may well be searching for his marbles.
just filled the wheelbarrow, he was beat at halfway

What don’t people get about Paco? He’s just a superb miler.
Which says everything about Goldi.

Richard Hughes has done absolutely nothing wrong. Goldikova isn’t at her best at this time of year anyway, but she’s idled in front (Peslier couldn’t help but take her in to the lead when he did) and still had enough to hold off Paco Boy who got a perfect run.
She’s just too good.
Good run from Dream Eater too.

Richard Hughes knows that horse better than anyone. Anyone cursing him there is screaming through their pocket. Paco Boy wouldn’t have finished as well as he did if closer to that speed. Peslier went for home early and the horse idled in front. Paco Boy’s run also looked to be coming to an end on the line. Best horse definitely won the race.
Rip Van Winkle too keen and fresh first time out.
Hannon Jnr post race seemed very happy and said "You have to ride him like that"

To be honest Richard had no room and didn’t panic but he shouldn’t have waited for her to move and the key to winning was going before she commited, 4 lengths to make up on her 2f out sitting still was too much.
Rip Van Winkle looks finished, Paco easily reverses Sussex form like the time and weight suggested he should.
June 15, 2010 at 13:49 #300811Dream Eater third; great spot by Armchair Jockey at a huge price.
June 15, 2010 at 13:49 #300812Given the way O’Brien’s horses have been running first time out I can’t see Rip Van Winkle being able to cope with either
Goldikova
or Paco Boy (besides, there’s nothing to say he even retains the requisite ability to worry either of them when cherry-ripe).
The French mare is the likeliest winner, despite reservations about it being the wrong time of year for her, but I’ve had a little bit each-way on
Dream Eater
at 80/1. He had a wind operation over the winter, ran a screamer behind Main Aim on his reappearance and looks more than ready for the return to a mile.
He could just sneak third.
Very nice. Well done.

I firmly believe that Paco Boy could never beat a fit and well Goldikova if he went for home before her. The only horse she’s let past when on her game was Zarkava. Paco Boy isn’t in that league.
How does Rip Van Winkle look finished based on that? Every man and his dog knew he’d had problems in preparation and would improve considerably on whatever he did today.
June 15, 2010 at 13:55 #300818I knew everything was in place for place for Paco Boy to run a big race and he has proved his doubters wrong, but I don’t see him winning a Sussex, or the QEII.
Horses for courses. Paco Boy is ideally suited by a straight mile, whereas Rip Van Winkle is more at home on a round course.
In my opinion, if the two of them met at either Goodwood or Ascot, Rip would come out on top.
Paco Boy’s best chance at further Group 1 success over a mile is the Prix Jacques Le Marois, but he will once again encounter Goldikova, this time in her backyard.
June 15, 2010 at 13:58 #300821you just can’t afford to give away lengths like hughes did in a race like this.
June 15, 2010 at 14:15 #300832As I said before, keep away from the Ballydoyle yard until proof that the older horses are healthy. The 2yo’s seem free of the "problem".
June 15, 2010 at 14:18 #300835What problem? Do you consider Fame and Glory an older horse, what about 3 yo’s are they older?
