I think they will go for it Ginge, I was shocked when he blurted that out. What do they have to lose? If he gets beat, they will say he did not act on the dirt, and nothing lost. Being by Kittens Joy, I’m sure they would love to showcase him to the US market before he ships off to stud too. Not saying he could or will win, but I think they will go there.
October 20, 2018 at 21:52 #1378230In fact Ginge, I just had a quick scan of the prices on oddschecker. Blue across the board for the BC classic, in from 16’s to 8’s or 10’s. Hills are still standout 16’s. I just loaded up £50 for a cheeky punt. The sods only let me have £18.75 at 16-1 to win. Grow a pair you idiots.
October 20, 2018 at 21:58 #1378232More successful you are the less they allow you on, Naus’.
Value Is EverythingOctober 20, 2018 at 22:00 #1378233Hill’s were top price 16’s in the week, I had a fiver on.
Next best was 10’s or 12’s I thinkBlackbeard to conquer the World
October 20, 2018 at 22:12 #1378235Impression I got was the owner is keen to go, but RL is not expected to recover and/or trainer isn’t as keen. But if you can get on at 16/1 may be worth the risk.
Value Is EverythingOctober 20, 2018 at 22:13 #1378236Ginge, if I was on mastermind… My specialist subject would be… Restricted betting accounts.
I’d not signed into hills for a year, now I remember why. I’m surprised they let me get that much on.
ALL of my accounts Ginge, are not in my name. That would be a futile exercise that died many years ago. They are all, in women’s names (it works better for me). I can only really bet with 365, Sky, or Ladbrokes. All of the rest, have restricted me ten times over, to the point I got bored resetting it all back up again every time. I should be on betfair… But I love to punt the evening before mainly, and never last minute dot com. So it just does not suit my betting style.
October 20, 2018 at 22:17 #1378237Thanks Nathan, I misread it as he was being backed today for it. Happy with what I got at 16’s. I recon we have a good speculative punt there at that price.
October 21, 2018 at 00:00 #1378249Well done RL backers! Thought he was in trouble 3 out but he had enough to just get through, proximity with ICF etc doesnt give the race a huge rating, but the favt he was able to win at a distance that isnt his best over ground that isnt his favourite, gives it a better feel, spent most of the week saying RL wouldnt like the ground and it was infact laurens who didnt like it, proximity to ICF last time strongly suggests shes ran way, way below her best, but no excuses from me on the day, a deserved winner!
So well done fellas.
October 21, 2018 at 01:42 #1378254tbh ham, I think you were right. RL didn’t really like the ground but got through it ok. imo Around 6 lbs (a couple of lengths) below his York best.
Value Is EverythingOctober 21, 2018 at 10:08 #1378265Oh yep a fair bit below his best. It’ll be interesting to see if they do end up going to the BC- i mean he’s had a hard race today on bad ground.
Performances like this make champions though, they win even when conditions are against them.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 21, 2018 at 17:13 #1378305The 16’s have gone for the Classic, best price 12’s now
I see he is 5/2 fav for the mile..
Has to be turf or classic for me as the mile will be far too sharp surelyBlackbeard to conquer the World
October 21, 2018 at 18:39 #1378320Would not worry to much about that though Nathan, the owner seemed pretty clear that it was the Classic, or retirement.
October 28, 2018 at 21:35 #1378960Looks like we should get a run for our money in the Classic Nathan. All the talk is he’s going to run in it, unless it’s a sloppy track, then the turf is the fall back. From the chatter though, most seem to think he is Classic bound now which is pleasing for us.
I did not realise that his dam was by a dirt loving son of Street Cry. Let’s hope the Lion had some dirt capable genes come through in him. At the 16’s we’re on at, it was worth the punt I’d say. He’s 11-2 second fav now with Skybet.
October 29, 2018 at 11:06 #1378988Nice one Nausered.
Looked a tough race in the QE11, if he’s still in peak condition and handles the surface I think he could do it.Blackbeard to conquer the World
October 29, 2018 at 16:57 #1379008They don’t look much this year that he faces Nathan. There’s no obvious superstar there as there normally is. He must have a terrific chance if he handles the dirt. Street Sense, his dams sire was an absolutely out and out top notch dirt performer. So much is being made in the US of his sire not producing dirt champions. Street Sense is there, very close in the pedigree too, and not a lot is being said about that. The yanks love to talk our chances away. He’s very probably the best horse in the race, who has big dirt influence, just one page back. If he takes well to it, I think you’re right, he could do it, he needs to break well though. Young Murphy is the man for a scrap when it gets rough. He picked up a ban down under, but it starts after the classic luckily for us
October 30, 2018 at 13:44 #1379066Stall two he has drawn Nathan. He’s going to have to go forwards you would imagine. They have up to 80mm of rain expected tomorrow, then drying conditions till race day. This should be good for us, they are not going to run him in the turf, on what will most likely be softish ground. But the dirt track will have drained and dried by race day. Stall two could be a small problem though. Let’s pray they blast him out from the front, he comes home clear, with not a speck of dirt on that grey body.
