hi Bobby, great to see you banging in the big price payouts as always!!
Have you abandoned Pied Piper for now? thought he would make your thyestes shortlist.
January 21, 2026 at 22:20 #1751217Thanks Ken
Definitely not abandoning him, but real problem with the race tomorrow
It’s going to be desperate ground, and I hate betting on that.
So although this is easily one of my big betting races (if I have a Thyestes winner it’s always a big winner), it’s a low key race this year, which means I can’t go mad with selections, and bets are tiny
I’m confident that Pied Piper would go well in National Hunt Chase, and same with Shanbally, he’s going to be a big bet for me at Fairyhouse. Neither win will those races off a Thyestes, so no choice but to leave them tomorrow.
Galmoy – Franciscan Rock 33’s EW 3Pls
Thyestes – Captain Cody 8’sJanuary 22, 2026 at 09:24 #1751225Its going to be attritional alright so the right play is to pull back for sure.
January 22, 2026 at 14:18 #1751239Yeah Ken, not really feeling it, so just makes sense. As I said, if I have a Thyestes Winner, it’s always a big one, but equally that applies to losers too, so better to be cautious
Ken, well done with the winner, but everything crossed for Piper
January 24, 2026 at 12:23 #1751529Nothing doing in Thyestes, and very pleased I only had a small interest this year. Took Will Do out of the bets, as I went with Shanbally/Pied Piper in the end, as cover bets only.
Bit rushed today………

February 1, 2026 at 13:07 #1752909Very happy last week with old Escaria. Main bet of the weekend, so a decent EW
Sat yesterday out, which was a good call. Initially put a few on, but cashed out quickly, as not feeling it. I was way off the mark anyway
Different story today, and itching to have a good go, but I’m wary of the ground, which I’m not keen on betting on.
Love The Leopardstown Chase, and got three in it. I’ve had to ditch my big Kim Muir horse, Buachaillbocht, and I’ll just hopefully bet him for Cheltenham. Way ahead of his mark. That’s certainly the main race of the day for me.
Obviously looking at the Sandy Thomson runners at Musselburgh, and currently with Grozni 6’s, and Rememberthename 16’s, but I’ll combine the four of them. Think he could have a good day. Both Dedicated Hero and Grozni on my mind for Ayr
Hoping that Blake can go well with The Supreme in mind

Kim Roque 13-2February 2, 2026 at 00:54 #1753170No joy Sunday, but back for more Monday
Firefox isn’t the most obvious, but I’m happy to have a good swing at him. Surprised new markets were formed. Still chewing over I Am Maximus
Grange Walk didn’t try a leg last twice, and though out the handicap, this is his race

Barberstown – Grange Walk 66’s EW4PlsFebruary 7, 2026 at 12:46 #1753786Really happy with that run from Firefox, and main bet of the weekend, so really can’t complain
Not my favourite weekend this, but got a couple
No idea what race Faivoir returns to form in, be it this, The Morebattle, The County, or The Scottish Champion Hurdle, I’m confident he’ll pop up, and pop up at a price.
A real regular horse for me, but swerved him last twice, particularly last time, where he was single figures in a race that didn’t look at any point like being a serious target.
Cliff time though, and took 50’s
No idea what to expect from Libberty Hunter, but hoping after the race he’s still (sort of), in The Champion Chase picture

WM Hill Hurdle – Faivoir 40’s EW5/50’sFebruary 7, 2026 at 19:29 #1753865Good old Faivoir was beat a country mile, but he just keeps paying his way, second time this season.
Was also not put off at all by the run of Libberty Hunter
Happy to play on, and went with Butty O’Brien at Navan tomorrow. Bet him a couple of times, and did me a turn at Navan a couple of years back. I’ve bet him just now, as he’s blue on Oddschecker, though he may be one of those that drifts back out in the morning

February 13, 2026 at 14:58 #1754480Empire Steel was never my favourite Sandy Thomson horse, but he’s always of interest round here, so definitely worth a go.
1500 Kelso – Empire Steel 13-2
February 14, 2026 at 14:32 #1754704As I said, never my favourite Sandy Thomson runner, and just wonder where they go now. Though no doubt I’ll get suckered in again if he runs.
Lots of bets on the go today, but only three of any real interest.

Pertemps – Thanksforthehelp EW5Pls/33’s EWFebruary 15, 2026 at 11:35 #1754839Decent enough results yesterday, and a good profit in running on High Treason, while small returns from the EW on Thanksforthehelp. Winnings were meagre though
This is usually a bigger betting race than it is today, but hoping for a repeat from Fortunedefortunata, while I’ve bet Built By Ballymore for a the last two Cheltenhams, and hoping he finally delivers
Built By Ballymore 12’s
Fortunedefortunata 28’s EWFebruary 21, 2026 at 01:52 #1755510That Punchestown Trial certainly brought that reasonable run to an end
Main interest today…………
Would look to certainly lay at least stake on the two Antepost Selections
1335 Newcastle – Holly Bird
Eider – Dom of Mary 22’s
Bobbyjo – Three Card Brag 9-2
Ladbrokes Trophy – Chance Another One 25’sFebruary 21, 2026 at 17:47 #1755759Great selection there with Holly Bird! Those races where the selection goes well clear in the last furlong are special. Sandy Thomson had prepared it well.
February 22, 2026 at 00:45 #1755839Thanks mate, yeah, that was a very enjoyable one, and hopefully Sandy can have Dedicated Hero equally tuned up next week
February 28, 2026 at 00:59 #1756616Quiet week after that win from Holly Bird. Nap of the weekend too, so was a good day. Similar status for Dedicated Hero tomorrow. Tougher race, but a proper notebook horse from last season, and after a grim couple of years, good to have another highly promising Sandy Thomson horse, regularly on the thread. Think he can have a good end to season. This is certainly tougher, and happy to also have Laafi on side
Bleu D’Enfer also added at Kelso, and have a bigger bet on Caballo De Guerra
Sam Brown verging on sentimental, but I do give him a chance, while Homme Public and Butty O’Brien also getting bet
Last but not least, old Moroder looked way overpriced going for a third Grimthorpe, and hoping for a big run
Premier Hurdle – Caballo De Guerra 100’s EW
Grimthorpe – Moroder 40’s
Veterans – Sam Brown 20’s EW
Morebattle – Dedicated Hero 33’sMarch 2, 2026 at 13:22 #1756937That was worst day of the season so far. Everything ran poorly, no opportunities to lay off before race, and just a complete washout. Was at football, and had avoided results, if I’d been in house, I’d definitely ducked out a bit, but complete blank, and Moroder and Caballo were very costly, just too greedy.
Anyway, back on it lol
