What a disaster news this is. I was actually looking to put some money on Sovereign considering the heavy ground.
October 3, 2020 at 23:26 #1504818Yes it’s a disaster, but Dettori will sicken us regardless. My girl, my heart is hers, blah blah. The race is a bit of a shambles now.

October 4, 2020 at 00:13 #1504830Why even run Enable in what is now a broken race. The ground is against her she really has nothing to prove. John Gosden thinks this is now specialist ground and says she could be beaten.
I wouldn’t like to see that happen she’s a 6yo now this will be tough. The shine has been taken off the whole race.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 4, 2020 at 00:25 #1504832Come on Enable!
October 4, 2020 at 00:50 #1504836Ha ha Mike.. On a brighter note hope she does it for you and all her fans, a tough task ahead though.
Have done Persian King EW at 16/1 tonight..just a hopeful bet as I couldn’t bet Enable 10/11 as she is now.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 4, 2020 at 00:53 #1504837With the pace now gone from the obrein hoard
Id think her chances of winning have probably doubled
More because of the way it will be run than any of them actually wouldve won
Other than love and magical obrein doesn’t really have many genuine top class animals at the moment
October 4, 2020 at 01:52 #1504841Race to me is as poor an arc as I can remember. If the horses withdrawn were French they would be going tonto. Funny how this never seems to the French horses. Very odd.
October 4, 2020 at 01:57 #1504842I presume the O’Brien horses bar maybe sovereign will now be aimed at the breeders cup and/or Japan. Should make November and December must more interesting. Serpentine will take some beating in Hong Kong and mogul would have a great chance on good/good to firm.
October 4, 2020 at 02:40 #1504844When you think none of love, ghaiyyath or magical are running in the Premier middle distance race of the year
Winners of 9 group 1s this season between them it is a tad dissapointing
But it is what it is, the ground is very soft at this time of year in Europe regularly
It won’t be the first or last time we are missing some of the best horses for the best race
October 4, 2020 at 02:54 #1504845When was the last time an Arc was ran without any of the seasons English, Irish, or French, Derby / Oaks winners, Eclipse, Coronation Cup, Juddmonte, Yorkshire Oaks, Irish Champion, GP Paris, Prix Foy, Prix Vermeille winners?
What a shocker of a renewal.

October 4, 2020 at 05:22 #1504848You can tell the field has no strength in depth when a horse with all his best form at 2 miles and further is second favourite.
It is beginning to look like a no bet race. I cannot back Enable at the price she is on that ground. The problem is finding one to beat her.
October 4, 2020 at 07:14 #1504850I agree with what’s been written here, it really has taken the shine off
a great race as a spectacle, but as for taking anything out of the race
now because it’s a mess there’s a saying in golf when someone wins ugly,
there are no pictures on a score card. In a years time and beyond, an Arc
winner is an Arc winner, it will still hold the same weight on their
pedigree.I bet In Swoop a good while back ante post, I had him in the Deutsches Derby,
so I can afford to have a bit on a couple. It won’t be Enable, It’s a shame
but I can’t have her at odds on when I think she will be beaten. I know Gosden
is covering the bases when he says there is a strong likelyhood she will be beaten,
but too many things are against her. Her age, the stats, the ground, if she does
win it she deserves to go down in the form books as one of the best. The problem is what to bet for insurance, I suppose Strad and Sottsass would be the
obvious ones, but I wouldn’t rule out a complete shock today. Even the rag outsider
Royal Julius has won on VSft at Longchamp and at 150/1 you couldn’t rule out he wouldn’t
sneak 4th when if some of the principals have decided not to waste the horse if it’s not
going to be their day. As daft as it would seem a couple of days ago, I’ll have a couple
of quid E/W on him. In short, I’ve no idea how this will play out. I suppose in it’s own
way it’s a fascinating race, just not fascinating in the way I wanted it to be.October 4, 2020 at 07:47 #1504851It’s an absolute disaster for the race, but this whole season has been an absolute disaster. Remember the fact we even have any Racing on to watch this summer is a positive considering where we were in March/April.
For anyone not yet invested into the race, ignore the AOB farce, re focus on the 11 left, work out how the race will now be run and how that’s going to suit/not suit runners and have some fun with it.
Put it this way, if at 3.15 this afternoon we’ll all be saying ‘how the hell did that win’ it would actually be no surprise whatsoever given everything going on this weekend
October 4, 2020 at 08:07 #1504852Forget it guys & girls.
FRENCH FARCE.October 4, 2020 at 08:14 #1504853Guessing ballydoyle will be getting a generous discount on the next batch of horse feed …..Jesus total disaster , from a tactical point of view it will def help enable but I still having a nagging feeling she’s not going to win today
October 4, 2020 at 09:08 #1504856Key horses out of the ARC due to feed which is not used in France creating problems with testing over there.
Now surely there needs to be an agreed list in France Ireland and the UK of what feeds are ok to use. This nonsense was so avoidable. The whole race was based around all the combatants. Clearly Love would have been on the same feed. Makes me wonder if ground was the whole story there.October 4, 2020 at 09:35 #1504857Commiserations to anyone on any of O’Briens antepost, it does detract from the race that it is now basically Gosden against France but then I guess it was only Gosden and O’Brien against France before and looking at my bet on Gold Trip there’s only a small rule 4 (Mogul at a guess) so its not as if any of them were massively fancied when pulled out. Real kick in the teeth for connections having stumped up to supplement Serpentine too! Can you imagine if Love had been pulled out this late because of this rather than the ground, at least we’ve had a few days to get over the big clash not happening. Crazy season which could only be capped now by one of the roughies upsetting Enable’s party in a bog… now that really would have to rate the worst Arc ever but you wouldn’t be surprised.
On another note does anyone know how it is that O’Brien’s runners were okay for Saturday but not Sunday? Is there a chance his runners (and Pista for that matter) could have been running with substances in their system using French rules rather than the Irish lab that tested them…. the levels of tolerance could be different is what I’m getting at and they might be looking at retrospective disqualifications which would be bad for Pista having placed in a G1.
