Impressive brigadier gerard winner Bay Bridge is fav here

I did like Mostahdaf but he was firmly put in his place

Hard to know exactly what is going to show up

Has the potential to cut up quite a bit looking at the runners

    Shahryar.

Handled a then quality field in Dubai, impressively…however, Yibir has had two losses since then and we’ll see what Pyledriver does at the Coronation Cup on Friday (3rd June)…

I’m not sure I’d agree shahryar won impressively in meydan

I’d say he was very lucky personally that pyledriver didn’t get a clear run

Just watched the race again and think if he’d had a bit more luck pyledriver would’ve won

On form Bay Bridge looks the one to be on, but he’s usually held up and may be at a positional disadvantage as can see this being slowly run.

Who is going to lead? Especially if Addebyb comes out due to the ground. Broome has made all before but that was sometime ago and is often very slowly away these days.

Don’t think I’ll get involved in backing the short priced fav until in running, when I know what the pace is like.

Probably not a betting race for me, but I am really looking forward to seeing Bay Bridge.

My numbers don’t give him a lot in hand, but he’s the one on an upward curve.

5 declared. Could be tactical as no obvious front runner.

If this gets tactical who is the fastest horse?

Lord North? Grand Glory? State of rest?

Is it bay bridge is I guess the question I’m trying to ask

Bay Bridge for me. The Japanese horse is probably a 12f horse and this will likely be 10f tactical. The Japanese horse might end up making the running too and try to nick it. I think Lord North and State Of Rest will be held up. Lord North might be regressing and State Of Rest wants a fast pace. Grand Glory probably wants softer ground.

That was what I was thinking FF.
tbh Fastest horse is Bay Bridge but will he be at a positional disadvantage usually held up towards the rear?

Grand Glory’s form doesn’t really look up to the others. Also slightly disappointing on only run on officially good-firm.

State Of Rest is a horse I like a lot, but his best form seems to be held up off a good pace. Seemed reigned back last time after a good start.

Lord North used to take a keen hold sometimes but seems more tractable these days. Also tends to travel fairly well in his races. Lost third to State Of Rest in Tatts Gold Cup only very late after travelling much the better. Has also travelled well and won the 1m1f Group 1 Dubai Turfs the last two years. Maybe he has the most speed or toss up between him and Bay Bridge. With Frankie on board too it wouldn’t be a surprise if he went to the front. I’ve now had a little on him at around 7/1 as he looks overpriced given the possible pace. May put more on in running depending on his eventual posi’.

The one you’d think a slow pace would be most against though is the Japanese horse Shahryar. Has some lesser form at this distance but his recent improvement has come when upped to 1m4f. May well need a strongly run 1m2f to be anywhere near his best, but that in turn means he should be more likely to go to the front… Has tracked the pace – as last time – but never front run. Indeed, had the opportunity to do so after a quick start but was a little keen and reigned back to track pace. First and third in the Sheema Classic in the first three throughout. If not in front he won’t be far away from the lead.

Bay Bridge looked good at Sandown Park, but is very short odds for a horse who is not only unproven on fast ground, but seemed to relish an easy surface last year.

Japan is great for two things – sushi and fast ground.

Shahryar could fund a few Bento boxes.

Stoute doesn’t believe the ground will be an issue…

“He showed promise from the first time he won and he’s continued to progress. He seems in fine shape and I don’t think fast ground will be a problem. It’s going to be a fascinating race and we are looking forward to it.”

Agree Ian. Got to take Bay Bridge not yet running on good-firm into consideration. Yes, Stoutey might not “think” fast ground will be a problem but he doesn’t know it won’t be a problem. ie Even if he has say a 75% chance of acting on it, that other 25% is a fair size.

Looking at Bay Bridge’s action it’s inconclusive. Neither a round soft ground action or a pointed toe top-of-the-ground daisy cutting action associated with firm ground.

“My horse is unproven on the ground so best it doesn’t run.”

Said no trainer or jockey ever.

You can’t get a prize money percentage if a horse stands in its box.

Weld wont run Homeless Songs on good to firm, good ground form but he isn’t prepared to try good to firm coz he believes she won’t handle it. So she staying in her box ;o)

Put up State Of Rest as a 2yo to follow a couple of years back, only to completely miss him when things clicked, and he went on a winning spree.

Agree that he’ll probably need the run of the race, but I think he’s just a tad overpriced, he wasn’t too bad last time. I’ll hopefully beat 6’s

They took lord north out of a race last season because of fast ground, any chance he’d be ridden tenderly on fast ground today?

He missed a lot of last season so maybe they were being more careful with him then, perhaps
