Thanks, still not an easy track to win from the front.

Have to say I do like Ruby’s breakdown segments – he stands out head and shoulders above all the other former jockeys that are on as pundit/analysts

“not sure what to make of the Japanese horse’s run, perfectly positioned”

    ———————

    “Perfectly positioned” my arse.

He’s a 12f horse running at 10f for goodness sake!
When it was a slowly run race he should’ve gone to the front and increased the pace. Was never going to have enough speed at the business end ridden like he was today. Awful ride.

Well done VTC and Ruby. A real world traveller and deserved this victory, great ride and judge of pace by the jockey as he wasn’t too bothered by Shahryar’s early pressure…

I thought Bay Bridge handled the ground alright myself. It just turned into a bit of a sprint at the end and the front runner kept up the pace/gallop. When Bay Bridge won at Sandown the owner said a mile and a half would suit but 10f is ok for now and he would go Prince Of Wales. So we will see where they go next.

Well done Ruby and VTC! :good:

Bloody easy when left alone like that though.

As some of us feared, the ground was a bit quick for Bay Bridge.

Maybe Andrew Cooper will help him out with the Sandown Park taps ahead of the Eclipse.

Suspect Kevin Blake’s analysis of the race had a hand in the change of tactics of the winner.

They knew they got the tactics wrong in Ireland last time so fair play to changing things up – ITV were talking up international targets going forward and then Murtagh pipes in with the Juddmonte should be the main target…….him, Baaeed, possibly the Derby winner and throw in Mishriff if he runs well in the Eclipse.

Following my evaluation of Bay Bridge today at 16:02, here are Stoute’s thoughts…

“He’s run a big race. We didn’t know about the ground because we had not run him on that ground before, but that didn’t inconvenience him. No problem there.

We will have a think. We can stick at 10 (furlongs) or go 12. No decision for a little while. We are not going to decide now. He is in all the big races.”

Wouldn’t take much notice of what the trainer says. Bay Bridge ran very well considering where he came from. Time confirms they went very slow.

Stoutey knows what to say in public. Had he said “we had less chance because of the slow pace, the winner dictating and us having to settle Bay Bridge in rear” then…

A: It would wrongly be seen by punters and the press as criticism of his jockey.

    and

B: It tells other trainers and connections how to beat him in future.

“Suspect Kevin Blake’s analysis of the race had a hand in the change of tactics of the winner.”

I may be misremembering but I think Kevin said on the ATR royal ascot preview state of rest would be ridden further forward than normal

Bay Bridge was a little keen today at times which likely effected his finishing position, either way he had every chance to win

Definitely not the ground that cost him as he travelled comfortably

    Just not good enough

I said after the brigadier gerard that I was dissapointed in mostahdaf who found zilch off the bridle, its possible bay bridges superiority was exaggerated because of this

Thought the winner got a belting ride :good:

    Spot on.
Bay Bridge has done it before and is the reason why he’s a confirmed hold up horse. In a slowly run race his jockey has no option but to sit and suffer; because had he been more prominent and / or without cover in a slowly run race there’s a greater risk of being even keener and therefore doing even worse.

If you look at the sectionals on at the races Bay Bridge wasn’t that unlucky he’s around 2 lengths down approaching 3F out and gets beaten a length. They did go steady but its not as if he was 8 lengths down and got to within a length and never at any point did he suddenly quicken up and look like he’d get the winner for me. Messy race for sure not least what happened to Lord North but I’d wager that the winner wasn’t necessarily suited by the way it was run either, he doesn’t normally make the running but somebody had to.

Early days for Bay Bridge at this top table but these are not greats in the grand scheme of things the winner probably hasn’t suddenly become a 125 kind of horse they are all 120 ish which is poor for Group 1 standards for older horses at this trip. Saying that the Guineas form wasn’t exactly enhanced so far this week sure Corebus won but he was lucky wasn’t he and Native Trail not great in Ireland. Luxury of options for Mr Haggas with Baaeed.
