Monday 16th
SMASH N GRAB Ayr 2.30
Best run this season came last time out at Carlisle on gd/sft. Dropping back a furlong to 6f today I think she may go close.Although the Ryan stable’s form this year is a worry.
1pt e/w 12/1 blsq, btdirect
Never figured.

PTARMIGAN RIDGE Ayr 3.30
A third run in 7 days for the 11yo. He has yet to win over 6f but won’t be inconvenienced by the ground. Showing good signs last few outings I believe he can get in the picture here.
1pt e/w 10/1 Lads, VC

P/L = +18.8ptsJuly 16, 2007 at 13:02 #108107I like the look of Amanda Perrett’s two intended runners at Windsor tonight.
19.00 Camps Bay
19.30 VenturaThe form of Camps Bay latest effort behind two consistent sorts has worked out well (second has franked the form). Sure to improve in only her sixth race and the step up in trip should also bring further improvement.
Ventura didn’t beat much when winning by 8L last time out. But her maiden form is interesting. Beaten only 3L by Newmarket Pretty Polly winner and Ribblesdale third Dalvina (the third and fifth also won since). Sure to improve for only her third race, better ground and step up in trip.
In each race I believe the main danger will be the respected Sir Michael Stoute entries – Fourteenth and Arabian Treasure.
July 17, 2007 at 08:27 #108200Almost a nice double there, Bosranic.
I quite like the odds about MARZELLINE in the 7.55 at Yarmouth this evening.
A decent run at Royal Ascot, which might have flattered her, but if you take the form at face value and allow for a few lbs improvement, she should be involved. About 10/1.July 17, 2007 at 14:33 #108245Bos’ unlucky with Ventura, really looked like she’d land your double there.
Don’t fancy anything today but I must agree with Artemis that Marzelline’s price is very tempting. That listed race at Yarmouth is like an oasis in a desert of dros today.July 17, 2007 at 16:13 #108251^^Thanks. I had two single wins and an ew double. I got the early morning price (5/1) on Camps Bay and 9/2 on Ventura. If both horses are above 4/1 I normally go for an ew double as a saver bet.
Hughes was a bit unlucky on Ventura – the second a gap appeared on the rails he went for the gap between horses. That’s a horse to watch next time.
I fancy a couple at Yarmouth tonight – nothing special and not as confident as yesterday.
19.55 Yarqeen (Sorry for being boring) This is a decent listed event and will probably throw up a lot of winners in the future. This filly already has classic form to her name and will appreciate the extra two furlongs and firm ground. If I were a bookie, though, I’d probably lay her.
20.55 Fourth Dimension. This is an awful race and not one I’m too confident about. The horse has acheived 3 of his 4 wins at this track and has a 100% record at Yarmouth. Early morning price of 14/1 has gone but still good ew value.
July 18, 2007 at 09:22 #108364Three in with an E/w shout today.
3.10 Uttoxeter Earls Rock 25/1
3.40 Uttoxeter Iberus 14/1
4.40 Uttoxter Toni Alcala 12/13 E/w Doubles and an E/w Treble

HAZZARD COUNTY Lingfield 3.20
Broke his maiden here over 7f. With only 7 runs on the clock and the step up to a mile he is open to some improvement. The topman around here, E Aherne, is booked and I feel he can go close at a big price. Draw is a negative.
2pts e/w 20/1 Skybt, Blsqr
Held up, ran on for 3rd

DARCY’S PRIDE Caterrick 3.30
Been running well this season and climbing up the ratings and I don’t think he’s finished improving just yet.
1pt e/w 10/1 gen.
Well beaten.

P/L = +22.8ptsJuly 18, 2007 at 16:27 #108417My boys and girls did me proud last night.
Only fancy a small wager on a horse running shortly.
16.50 Noddies Way. In a race where few are in good form and others are uncertain to stay, this horse will enjoy the conditions and stays all day. He ran a stinker last time out, but if returning to the form that saw him beaten just 5L by recent Ascot Stakes winner Full House, he will beat this modest bunch. Well weighted and Luke Morris takes 5 off.
July 19, 2007 at 11:58 #108516Thursday 19th
CHOISKY Leicester 2.10
Finished fifth, staying on, last time out at Lingfield over 5f but was only beaten by 1L in total. The step up to 6f today should bring about improvement.
1pt win 15/2 VCbt
Beaten 5 1/2Ls, 5th.

P/L = +21.8ptsJuly 19, 2007 at 13:18 #108533Yesterday’s three selection returned a 7/1 winner and two unplaced.
Although Countback (11/4) in the 2.30 at Cartmel should take all the beating his rise in the weights is a concern therefore, at 12’s Seattle Robber looks a decent E/w shout and Tobesure at 16’s in the 3.05 would make a nice double.
2 E/w singles and a double.
July 19, 2007 at 14:07 #108545Nice winner yesterday Pompete.
July 19, 2007 at 14:41 #108550I dont know why, but something tells me this might run well.
Telepathic
Hamilton 2.50
small Each way. 20s/1
this is simply a speculative selection its the only course and distance in the race Kevin Darly has a good strike rate here, otherwise no reason to back it.
unplaced. Not as bad as finishing position suggests, badly hampered coming out of stalls by horses dashing for the rail.Raced in isolation and did well to come back to the pack before fading. Certainly worth another look if better drawn and racing in similar company.July 19, 2007 at 18:41 #108581The last three races at Folkstone.
19.30 Keyaki
20.05 Pentatonic
20.35 Emerald WildernessCourse winner Keyaki has been running consistently well this season over 6F. Seven Furlongs is here preferred trip and Patrick Hills will take 5 off. She has most to fear from the improving Yandina, who is a real threat.
Pentatonic has been crying out for this step up in trip. She pushed a decent filly of Sir Michael Stoute’s all the way in her last race, will have conditions to suit and will improve for the step up in trip in only her sixth race. She just gets the nod ahead of Lady Songbird.
Emerald Wilderness has been out of the frame in only one of her nine races this season. She had recent winner Camps Bay back in third when beaten the time before last. She followed that up with a win last time out and should get the better of another Stoute improver, Rose Of Petra.
July 19, 2007 at 19:22 #108592I’m not sure Pentatonic has been crying out for a step up in trip. Although she’s out of a slip anchor mare, other aspects of the pedigree suggest 8f/10f is her trip. The style of her runs to date so far has been travelling strongly/ going keenly rather than pluuging on in my opinion. I think she’ll pull too hard and get outstayed tonight, possibly by Lady Songbird.
July 20, 2007 at 12:39 #108643I’m not going to have a bet today.
I feel obliged to mention Let Us Prey who’s a short priced favourite for the 18.35 at Pontefract. He went into my notebook after his fourth in the Superlative after missing the break.
He’s entered in the Phoenix, Gimcrack and National. He’ll be better over further than todays trip but should have far too much class.
Victories for Camps Bay, Emerald Wilderness, Malt and Mash and Six Of Diamonds (they dead-heated yesterday) this week make their running at Goodwood (15/06) look strong – they should all be watched closely at the moment. Malt and Mash, although capable of getting further, could be a Cambridgeshire type.
July 20, 2007 at 13:48 #108649GREYT BIG STUFF Newmarket 6.45
Last run, beaten 57Ls over 1m31/2fs in April, after pulling far to hard. Back over what is likely his best trip today and I can’t resist at a huge price.
1pt e/w 40/1 gen.
Well Beaten.

VALE OF BELVOIR Newmarket 7.15
This is her seasonal debut but hopefully she’s ready to go.If so with only 5 runs on the clock she should be open to improvement. 5f gd/fm look her optimum conditions and she looks to be fairly treated by the weights, by my calculations.
2pts win 8/1 Bt365
Well beaten.

P/L = +17.8ptsJuly 20, 2007 at 15:50 #108664The ground at Nottingham is barely raceable and I’d be surprised if this race is actually run, but I’ve had a daft fiver on Ivana Illyich at 46 on the exchanges, in the getting out stakes at Nottingham.
Can’t be soft enough for this one. Every pound of weight is going to count and ran reasonably in similarly unraceable conditions up in the North East two outings ago. Up against it on ratings, but trainer has had two long priced winners in the last month. Has won on heavy, (over the sticks).
Off down there now for the last two.
