Pts staked 100.5Got a little return from Winter Lion in the Summer Cup but immediately chucked it away on a pointless AP on Magic Wand for the Eclipse, who doesn’t run…too soon after the Curragh.
Again lots of little ‘uns tomorrow. At in laws for bbq party weekend in Wales so won’t get to watch any of it but might sneak off for the Eclipse. Reckon Magical should be closer in the betting to Enable as AOB said she came out of Ascot well. I’m backing O’Brien Jnr’s horses at Bellewstown
1pt win on Magical; 0.5pt win the rest except Air Supremacy 0.5pt EW (think something must have gone wrong for him at end of last season):

Trip might be a bit sharp but hope he can regain winning ways.
July 13, 2019 at 17:53 #1448550Your old pal kept him company VtC – hope you backed him EW at that price- looked like the old stager enjoyed himself up the front!!
July 15, 2019 at 11:44 #1448621Sorry for late reply Grass, at my Caravan, and network coverage a bit shabby.
Oh yeah, he did me proud, I got 66’s, and an insane price on the Exchange, he’s back.
Well done with Ravenshill………though those weren’t my sentiments immediately after the race lol
July 15, 2019 at 15:38 #1448627I knew you’d be on, good stuff!
What do you make of the chases at Killarney? I’m itching for a bet but will probably sit on my hands waiting for the replays especially to watch:
7.20 Dakota Moirette. Really a confidence horse. He got broadsided by a loose horse last time, poor chap knocked sideways by it in blinkers so coukdn’t see it coming. Then jumps less well, then goes backwards quickly (stewards report says lost shoe and a cut). Time before that jumped OK, then hit one, then jumped the next horribly and the rest a bit stickily. Hoping for a Russell masterclass in how to stay out of trouble and get a horse jumping again.8.20 Commandant also gone to pot lately. Has talent and I’d love to see him happy and jumping for fun again.
8.50 Race of the day. Dinons jumped very very well for a novice last time but gives a lot of weight to Robin de Carlow who also went quite well and should improve. Intrigued by Brahma Bull. He’s an ignorant big brute and as raw as a lump of blue steak. Hope jockey has arms of steel and glue on the seat of his pants. Some ability though…he was still pulling at the end of 3 miles last time having fought his jockey the whole way. His jumping is as rough as a badger’s bum- I can’t decide whether he is a dyspraxic lump who will never be any good or whether it’s just because he’s a big beast who hasn’t yet learned to control his body and spends more time fighting his rider than allowing himself to be helped. Plenty of gridwork and a few days’ hunting over trappy country in that creature’s future I would think. I wonder if he is used as punishment at Closutton: “You arrived hungover and late for work this morning…so go and muck out those 20 stables and then you’re schooling Brahma Bull”.
July 15, 2019 at 16:34 #1448631Good observations on Brahma lol
I did have a look at the Chases, but trying to have quiet midweeks just, but I did like All The Answers, Mister Butler EW, and Sizing Solution, but not enough to part with any cash.
July 15, 2019 at 20:38 #1448644Downpatrick was good fun today GAG, weather combined with a great atmosphere, it’s a pity the first race cut up so bad, as with the 5 runners i thought it looked a nice wee race.
The last at Killarney isn’t half tricky. I know Brahma Bull has been liked in the past, but as you say he’s a big brute and clearly hard to get right. He has to prove himself still form wise and no wonder RDC is the fancied one of the WPM 3. Dinon’s hurdle rating gives him a decent chance but i’d be concerned he’s had a few egg n spoons in there though.
I fancied BB to beat Ravenhill before he was pulled out and anyway Ravenhill was beaten easy enough by a horse VTC + i had spoken about before the Galway hurdle last year! I think it’s a no bet race for me, but very intriguing anyway!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 16, 2019 at 00:35 #1448652Good to hear Jack, I should get myself together and go but my nonracing husband hired a minidigger for the weekend so I was looking after the baby and the 3 year old- I’m not yet slick enough to manage both on my own and enjoy racing! On the plus side…mini diggers are fun to drive…I had a wee go…thanks Cyril Johnston!!
At Killarney
Dakota Moirette didn’t jump too badly but was again going backwards at times and didn’t look like he’s about to click and storm to a win any time soon.VtC lucky you didn’t back Mister Butler given what happened but notable that he gathered himself to go on and happily pass the post in front. Poor jockey somersaulting over the birch with his head as a pivot! Was relieved to see him up, and also the grey mare who was winded. Nice to watch a bit of horsemanship by the winning jockey nonchalantly leading the loose horse back cantering beside his own steed.
Commandant won at 14s unburdened by my cash. Maybe it’s just sour grapes on my part as I didn’t back him, but I’m not convinced…I don’t like his head carriage or the way he quite often twists his body to the side over a fence when there’s no need…just still doesn’t look happy and he may get found out when he has better horses upsides and his jumping is under pressure.
Robin de Carlow deserved her win, there’s not a lot of her but she has a nice attacking attitude and didn’t get fazed when she made the odd mistake.
Brahma Bull was better than his last chase start (at which he “jumped well” according to the race preview on the stable website…were they watching the right race??) Settled much better, still made plenty of mistakes but he made a nice shape over some of the fences when he met them well and those could almost have been described as fluent. I noticed him make some attempt to shorten up when he was wrong for a fence and the jockey sensibly stayed out of trouble and let him try to establish a nice galloping rhythm between fences. Interesting prospect as a staying chaser. I suppose it will be a balance between getting enough experience into him to sharpen him up and trying to preserve that big injury prone body and keep his mind right too. Reminds me a bit of Pylonthepressure for the same connections.July 16, 2019 at 00:58 #1448653Oh I’d have been raging if I’d bet him, just watched it.
Never ever bet him before, but been waiting him out. Didn’t think tonight would have been the night, hence no bet, but doubt he’ll be 40’s next time.
He would have went close, very unlucky.
No consolation, but good to see Commandant 14’s get a mention from you beforehand.
July 18, 2019 at 19:02 #1448786Sunset Showdown has decent form and a good chance of putting it up to the Elliot horse tonight if he doesn’t monkey around on the run in.
21.05 Ffos Las Sunset Showdown 11/8 2pts win
July 18, 2019 at 19:13 #1448787Forever Field used to look as if he would be fairly decent; then went off the rails. Price and drift suggests slim to no chance but I’ll have an interest anyway.
19.30 Ffos Las Forever Field 12-1 1pt win
