Of their half of the draw – England now favourites to reach the Final.
Value Is EverythingJuly 1, 2018 at 17:51 #1359191one of Russia, Croatia, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Colombia or England are in the Final

Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Colombia or EnglandOn form Croatia possibly favourites although I was surprised they didn’t beat Denmark in 90 minutes last night.
Russia must now be up there, not only because of beating Spain and having home advantage, but I can see many 50:50 decisions going their way from now on. Refs, in the back of their mind, will know if they give any contentious decisions against the hosts, could mean a dose of Novichok in their half-time orange.
If England are to get there, they will need to win all games within 120 minutes and avoid any penalty shoot-outs. I just can’t see it myself.
July 2, 2018 at 11:33 #1359255If you are a football fan it must have been an enthralling WC so far. I haven’t seen much of it and only seen parts of games and some highlights but some of the results have been surprising. Goal of the tournament so far IMO is the half volley by the French lad on Saturday just gone. Magnifique technique
July 2, 2018 at 14:30 #1359272i will say again beware the spurs factor now we are in the knockout stages
Also will be backing Sweden to beat us (if we get that far)
July 2, 2018 at 14:57 #1359276Or Switzerland
Shakiri’s finish v Serbia was cool. Put an England player in that position and they would have blazed it wide or straight at the keeper.July 2, 2018 at 14:59 #1359277homer you are correct, but I thought England were already there so I might as well add Sweden as well ready in lol
July 2, 2018 at 22:46 #1359303i will say again beware the spurs factor now we are in the knockout stages
Are you an Arsenal fan by any chance, nwalton?
Might be one factor, but there are many other positive and negative factors.Who knows what the main factor of any defeat is.
Are you preparing to tell us “I told you so”?
Value Is EverythingJuly 2, 2018 at 23:05 #1359309no mate Chelsea, have only hated one thing in my life and that’s spurs
no not preparing to say told you so, never been one to gloat, would love to see us win one more world cup before I pop my clogs. BTW wouldn’t be much to gloat about laying a 10/1 shot (not that i’m that why inclined)
July 3, 2018 at 20:44 #1359349Just watched about 10 minutes of it. What a bloody farce it was turning out to be. Colombians should have about 6 sent off for arguing the toss and Henderson should also be off. I’ll go back in the 18th minute of added time
July 3, 2018 at 20:46 #1359350what a vile game football has now become
July 3, 2018 at 20:57 #1359351Oh no another half hour
July 3, 2018 at 22:16 #1359353Never in doubt.
Value Is EverythingJuly 3, 2018 at 22:21 #1359354Can’t believe what I’ve just seen.

We go again Saturday…
July 3, 2018 at 23:42 #1359355Anyone think Pickford made a mistake in an interview afterwards? Said he’d studied all the Columbians records on penalties and only one went a different way than expected. Sweden, Croatia and Russia now know if each man taking penalties puts the ball the other side to their usual placement – they’re bound to score – sending Pickford the wrong way.
Value Is EverythingJuly 3, 2018 at 23:52 #1359357Having a younger team helps with penalties. Some have won Under XX tournaments by scoring penalties. Although to be honest I think our poor record has been made too much of beforehand and probably making too much of winning one now. Had the Columbian not helped us out by hitting the bar could’ve been very different.
Value Is EverythingJuly 4, 2018 at 00:55 #1359358I was glad to see them getting over the line Ginger, but I have to be honest,
I’m not filled with confidence, even taking on the mighty (ranked 12 places below
England) Sweden next time. I thought they started with a good tempo, but not a lot
else. If they hadn’t been given the penalty, blatant as it was, I’m not sure they
would have got the ball in the net. I may be wrong, I was only out of the room for
a couple of short times, but I don’t recall the Columbian keeper having to make a
save the entire match, other than the offside shot in extra time. They are going
to have to be more clinical up front if they want to get much further in the
competition. I hope Southgate can eke a bit more out of them, I doubt they will
have a better chance in a world cup. - AuthorPosts
