Wade through after only dropping one leg…
Tonight- Taylor’s a cert, but no bet at 1/10. Never get involved if Mardle’s playing. So my only bet is Merv King @ 4/5 to beat Scholten

As Roland said, he’s just too inconsistent to back or oppose
Poor night tonight. Merv bottled his doubles under presuure, Taylor played poorly but scraped through & Mardle’s opposition didn’t turn up. Anyway, that’s it until after Xmas, so thankfully, can’t lose any more cash for the next couple of days!
December 30, 2007 at 10:46 #132408Wished I’d got involved last night with Mardle!
Still Mr inconsistent as went 3-0 down to Taylor & then changed into a differant player. But he’s hard not to like & was really willing him on at the end and you could see how much it meant. The danger is though, that may have been his final, so could struggle in todays semi
Painter/Part look hard to spit in the other one & think the eventual winner will come from these 2
It’s been a very poor (financially) PDC tourney for me & pray that the BDO champs are a littel kinder
December 30, 2007 at 11:16 #132414Never thought I’d see the day when Phil "the power" Taylor would choke at the oche during a World Championship match. But that’s exactly what he did against Wayne ( yes, I might just succeed against Taylor by resorting to a little gamesmanship) Mardle.

December 30, 2007 at 23:22 #132548Part v Shepherd final on New Years Day
December 31, 2007 at 10:58 #132576Should be a Part win, but that young kid called the ‘karate kid’, has a good chance.
7-6 Would be nice
January 2, 2008 at 17:52 #132983Glad the youngster managed to win a couple of sets, but overall felt the final was a non-event – a bit like the whole tournament for me financially
Any way, roll on the BDO which starts Saturday
January 2, 2008 at 18:53 #132996Sorry to here you didn’t win much Ben.
I did ok, due to the fact that I just kept backing 3-2’s, 4-3’s, 5-4’s etc but not for much money.
I was also pleased that the kid won a few sets as he has been a breath of fresh air throughout – even though he could have been knocked out many times.
I was amazed that Wayne Mardle ‘changed’ his game to play a virtually unknown kid in the semi-final and I thought that Part was a certainty yesterday as he would never make the same mistake. It was ok for Mardle to try and slow the kid down, but it had a negative affect on his own game and he couldn’t take advantage of Shepherd’s mistakes because he wasn’t playing his own game.
Still, I thought it was a good tournament overall as the atmosphere was great towards the end. Like you, I’m looking forward to the ‘Conference’ version of the World Darts

January 3, 2008 at 13:59 #133158Hi Mike
Glad you won a few quid & I’m not upset to have lost as you know it’s the most likely outcome, but it’s a little galling that Terry Jenkins had 7 darts to beat the youngster in the first round!
Still, enjoyed the 2 weeks, with my highlight being Taylor fighting back in his first few matches & finally succumbing to Mardle
Really looking forward to the BDO and will be there definitely Monday and possibly Tuesday as well. Not to sure about your “Conferenceâ€
January 3, 2008 at 14:49 #133165First round draw at Lakeside for those that haven’t seen it. The clash between last year’s two finalists is a talking point, I suppose, and it’s nice to see "Choc" proving adept at another sport other than racing.
