I’ve gone back ten pages and can’t find a thread for this, so here goes.
There is no actual reason for having an ante-post bet on this tonight, but Chezza is pretty sure there won’t be much Jump racing the next ten days so he’s been having a butchers at a lot of big race entries.
I like this race for a bet because I think it’s often the weakest of the first four Classics.
Most top-class Classic aspirants are only bred to stay 1m-1m2f nowadays.
There aren’t many top-class fillies and few who are have genuine middle-distance pedigrees.
The ante-post lists for this are rammed with fillies who wouldn’t stay 1m4f in a horsebox.
I’ve found a filly who I’ve no idea if she’s entered (she’s in the Irish Oaks though), an intended runner, and she’s only even quoted (25/1 in one, 40/1 in the other) in two lists.
But I like her.
Karl Burke isn’t a trainer that immediately springs to mind where Classics are concerned, but I think she’s bred to stay, bred to train on from two to three and she showed enough at two (OR 114) to suggest she has the quality for a crack at something like this.
Her name?
Chezza’s FAR too childish to supply THAT.
I look forward to being informed she’s: deceased/had a gender change operation/been sold to race in Hong Kong/or is currently towing a Santa’s sleigh at a shopping mall near you, while sporting a particularly unconvincing set of fake antlers.

Finished 2nd in a 1 mile group 1 at 2
Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s much better at 3
40/1 is frankly insulting
December 8, 2022 at 08:13 #1626207My thoughts exactly, FF.

April 4, 2023 at 14:54 #1642392Tahiyra not among the entries – the trainer just isn’t that fussed about coming over here unless it absolutely suits him to.

Thinks she’s quicker than tarnawa
April 21, 2023 at 16:19 #1644804Spent half an hour or so watching a few replays of fillies who had won a maiden on their only start last night. Narrowed it down to two but in reality don’t think i would take 10/1 for either of them to turn up nevermind win it. Quite liked Mike’s horse Bluestocking also and she was very close for second.
Diamondsareforever @ 66/1
Owned by a partner in Coolmore and transferred to Aiden’s stable after winning a Dundalk maiden. An absolute gigantic looking specimen who could be anything really and looks like she needs further. Runs on Saturday at Naas but half expecting it be a short lived one.
Empress Wu
Super impressed by her out of the lot of them, probably an egg and spoon race but the second bolted up a few days ago and she looked in a totally different league. I’ll wait for an entry before having a bet but very interesting to see how she turns out this year.

Only 3 weeks on Saturday to the race so nice to see an entry appear for this weekend
May 10, 2023 at 09:54 #1647234Novakai has been taken out of the Prix Saint Alary run this weekend, so the Musidora is now the only chance of seeing her before the Oaks.
May 10, 2023 at 14:49 #1647256Shades of Shergar in the 1981 Chester Vase – what a storming win from Savethelastdance.
The runner up has an OR of 91, the third 80 and, if either has to their mark, there’s your Oaks winner right there.

May 10, 2023 at 15:06 #164725920 years ago you’d say it will be a totally different surface at Epsom – but in the modern era with the current CoC I doubt that will necessarily be the case.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 10, 2023 at 15:17 #1647262Yeah been incredibly odd weather recently hasn’t it, seemed to have ground that was too fast all winter only to have one or two bog days at Cheltenham (the Thursday in particular springs to mind where the ground seemed to be tacky given the results).
Now the flat seasons started and it seems like every meeting has been run on soft.
May 10, 2023 at 15:21 #1647263Well that was something… as ian said, the formline puts that into the exceptional category with 2nds and 3rds or’s
Ian, are you aware if they travelled over this morning or yesterday again, would be interesting if it was the latter
May 10, 2023 at 15:23 #1647265Superb.. loved the way she put daylight between them around the bend without doing anything
