I’d be taking that form with a large pinch of salt myself

    13/8 is a dreadful price

    Which is more likely
    1) she’s pegasus
    2) she’s beaten a load of handicappers on the snaff in very soft conditions most of them won’t have handled

Is she a group 1 horse, most likely yes, is she a 13/8 shot for an oaks not a hope

You’d think she’d just won the guineas impressively like love or winter going by that price

    Crazy crazy price

Today reminded me of 2019 when Sir Dragonet and Mehdiyaah (spelling?) both bolted up at Chester in the slop and I think they both either went off fav or close to fav at Epsom. Neither won, Sir Dragonet wasn’t beaten far but it was a bad Derby, probably one of the worst in recent years and as bad if not a worse Oaks. They were getting strung out like washing all over Chester in some of the sprints, its horrible ground on the greyhound track.

Yog can lay 2.7 (under 7/4) right now at Betfair Exchange if you want to, FF.

    I wouldn’t.

For sure, she’s not beaten a great field but, even if you only rate her through the OR 80 third it looks a decent performance.

The ground was testing, but will it be massively different at Epsom?

I remember how they finished in Snowfall’s year.

It looked just about the best time on the card on a furlong-for-furlong basis.

Unless something wins half the Knavesmire in tbe Musidora, I reckon she will be odds-on come the day.

If she’s odds on on the day a place lay will be tempting

She’s going to make the market either way so hopefully find some interesting fillies to go to war with against her

I imagine that running lion may go to the prix de Diane not the oaks, it was intimated by gosden anyway

will be looking forward to the other trials

Fair enough – opinions make the game, the market and the forum and I always enjoy reading yours, FF.

If by some miracle the ground dries out AND Cooper leaves the taps alone, that will certainly put a different complexion on the race.

On her breeding, i don’t see faster ground being an issue.

I’ve been going to the Roodee for 30+ years and no other performance has given me such a “wow” factor. I hope she is the real deal.

On a related note does anyone know where to watch the Shergar Chester footage? I’ve never seen it

Sadly, I have searched and searched online and never been able to find it.

I remember watching the Chester Vase after getting home from school in 1981 – IIRC Shergar won by 12 lengths from Sunley Builds and Peter O’Sullevan said he was quoted at 5/2 from 5/1 immediately after the race.

He soon went shorter, was Evens best on the day and started 10/11, I think.

Testing ground exaggerates winning distances and margins of superiority – Celtic Swing won the Futurity at Doncaster on Soft as a 2yo by 12 lengths, but never quite turned out as great as many hoped – but I cannot remember any 3yo winning a Classic Trial by as far as 22 lengths and I suspect she’s very good.

She was obviously very good its just something doesn’t stack up for me and its not just the ground and opposition who are very easy to throw stones at although as IanDavies has pointed out there’s every chance its soft ground for Oaks day. The big red flag for me is the fact she was sent off 20/1 for a maiden just 5/6 weeks ago and Ryan rode her stablemate who was much shorter. I’m aware that some of that is self-fulfilling, you see Ryan on one and it will be shorter but this was 7/2 vs 20/1 and Boogie Woogie didn’t have standout claims herself hence not being that short herself. That form worked out well but Savethelastdance clearly wasn’t fancied that day and they aren’t short of bigging theirs up when they like them. She either works terribly or they thought she’d be a slow burner this season.

I did not watch any racing yesterday and I have not caught up with the replay yet. But you always have to be wary about wide margin winners in soft ground. It also looked like a weak race beforehand.

I seldom lay horses on the exchanges but if she is odds on in The Oaks I might make an exception.

Best to wait until all the trials are run. If her performance turns out the best out of the trials she may well win.

Can’t have that being Oaks form and if Eternal Hope wins at Epsom I’m Lionel The Rabbit and will answer to that name here until they’ve weighed in in the St Leger.
