Little Glenshee!!! My favourite little mare. I don’t know anything about betting in running but when she was tailed off I kept saying to Mike ‘you watch, she’ll stay on when the others are slowing down’. And she very nearly got second as well. Can you back a horse to place ‘in running’ or does it have to be a win? I can’t imagine what price she must have been. She had a crashing fall last season and I was so worried about her till I heard she was ok; even emailed the stable to double check. We see her at Kelso sometimes.
January 18, 2015 at 02:03 #501934That was in the back of my mind Moe, I knew she might get "slightly outpaced", but I thought on that going, she might be staying on at the end. She just got too far behind though, but I bet both her and Maggio, and at least got a run for my money, and a wee bit of excitement at the end.
Yeah, you can bet for a place in running no problem, but it’s not a market I normally play, the "to be placed", and though I bet her on Betfair, I didn’t notice what price she hit, must have been huge though.
January 18, 2015 at 13:40 #502004Mixed fortunes yesterday, but more than happy with Tenor Nivernais, who travelled really well, and will hopefully come down a couple of pounds for that, and just happy to see Lyvius get competitive.
Amigo, didn’t want to know, but I’m hoping he’ll appear at Cheltenham anyway, where the the hopefully nicer weather won’t put him in "such a mood"

One horse I really took from yesterday was Eastlake
. I thought they’d target him for The National this year, after his run in The Topham, but it may be he’ll stay below the 3. I’ll take a keen interest in him wherever he ends up at The Festival, with the possible routes being The Plate, or The Grand Annual.January 20, 2015 at 16:05 #502269Bob any thoughts on races at Cheltenham on saturday.
COLE HARDEN 8/1 in the cleeve hurdle for me he beat Rock on ruby if that was 3m last time he stayed on so strong back to 3m perfect for him.
THE GIANT BOLSTER 7/1
Always runs well here should be shorter in market too only runs well at Cheltenham can go close again
Give my skybet tip in a few days not sure who to go for there
January 20, 2015 at 17:21 #502277Cole Harden is my one and only Festival ante post bet so I want to see him run a big race on Sunday.
January 20, 2015 at 19:01 #502285Yeah, had a look Darren, and I’d agree that round Cheltenham, The Giant Bolster is a different proposition, and he’s bound to be there or thereabouts. I’m hoping Theatre Guide can run well, to book his place in The Gold Cup, and I’ve a wee notion for Black Thunder too. I’ll probably have an each way go on Theatre Guide just now at the 25’s whilst there’s 8 listed.
No bet in The Cleeve at the moment, but I’m with you and moehat, Cole Harden all the way……but I’ll probably leave the race alone, I can’t be jinxing both of you. At 8’s, 9’s, that’s a fair price for Cole Harden.
I’ve went for Night In Milan, and Renard in The Skybet. Did you have a look at The Thyestes……I’ve went for The Job Is Right, and Ipsos Du Berlais…..and might go nuts, and bet a JP Runner as well, but might just leave the JP runner for The Trifecta.
January 22, 2015 at 14:44 #502435Just listened to Monkslands race. We were told a couple of years ago to back him for the World Hurdle as connections were very confident and I’ve been meaning to back him ante post for this years race so part of me wanted him to run well today and part of me didn’t
.
January 22, 2015 at 15:05 #502440I’ve not seen the race yet moe, just in from work, but sounds as if it was tight, and he might be worth a second go……..the price is certainly holding up, according to oddschecker, if you still fancy a go.
January 22, 2015 at 15:37 #502449The winner was giving him quite a few pounds; I’d been assuming that Monksland would have had a lot of weight, so not as impressed as I had been
.
January 22, 2015 at 16:06 #502457I wouldn’t give up on him yet moe, but yeah, be a concern him getting weight from the winner.
January 22, 2015 at 18:03 #502472Winner was tipped on Timeform Radio [or Willam Hill.can’t remember which channel I was on at the time].
January 22, 2015 at 21:58 #502488Added Djakadam at 18’s, taking the Free bet for new account. Was really taken with him today, and though a massive ask for a horse with such little experience, it was a good staying performance.
I’d much rather some of the others won, but more than covers my stakes if he wins, and a free bet out of it, so thought it worth the risk.

I prefer William Hill Radio to Timeform because Steve and Andy Holding come to our racing club and it’s funny listening to them, but it often doesn’t cover French or Irish races.
January 24, 2015 at 00:42 #502611Another Venetia runner I’ve been looking forward to seeing back out this season is
Dare Me
. Was lucky enough to catch him when he won out the park at Warwick last year. Not surprisingly, he was hammered for that, but not totally disgraced afterwards, and with the Festival on the horizon, I’ll be watching him closely tomorrow at Cheltenham.
Another Ante-Post bet, this time in The Bumper. Not a race, I normally bother with too much, but I’m hoping
Jett
can follow in the footsteps of his half brother Jezki, and head here………en route to a successful hurdling career. Likeable debut from him last week too. Started chipping away at him, but hopefully, and should, get bigger odds for him.
Champion Bumper
Jett 40’s to 55’s
January 24, 2015 at 16:44 #502766Think my ante post on Cole Harden is worthless now. Looking at the runners last night [with great difficulty as computer is on it’s last legs and crashes constantly] fancied an ew on Big Fella Thanks, then promply forgot about it, so relieved that he didn’t win.
January 24, 2015 at 18:35 #502776To be honest, yeah moe, don’t see how he can come back from that

Don’t start me on Big Fella Thanks. I took a chance on Walkon. The thinking being that for a horse who was supposed to have been retired after his injury in The National, he must be showing something at home to risk running him again, and he showed some old sparkle at Newbury last time. He ran no sort of race though. I wanted one to go with him though, and I was between my horse to follow, Dare Me, and Big Fella Thanks. I went with Dare Me, even though I knew he had to come down a couple of pounds………and I knew BFT was no 33-1 shot. Was kicking myself, but I was still cheering him home, really wanted him to hang on
January 24, 2015 at 19:28 #502786I was cheering him home too
. What a grand old horse he is. I’m besotted with Many Clouds. I hadn’t thought much about him or the race but was watching him jump round and saw his big floppy ears and, as he won found myself all choked up. This has happened to me before; didn’t think I was consciously bothered about a horse and then found myself in floods of tears.
