Hope you backed those two Galway winners!
August 1, 2018 at 10:21 #1361767I sure did Grass, thanks.
What a day, took the 5’s for Pakora, and because I wanted 4 Places On Truffles, I had to have a rare bet with Totesport, and I got the 28’s, happy happy days.
Throw in Sir Dancealot at 11-2, and Flaxen Flare at 25’s places, it was my best day for a good while, and Truffles really was a decent lift, so pressure off for a good while now, and after reverses the last 2 seasons, great to have a winning Galway.
August 1, 2018 at 11:38 #1361771Galway takes centre stage today, with the big race of the day, The Galway Plate.
With Calino D’Airy Ante—Post, and I’ve added Rock The World 66’s ew, and will add one more from……
Patrick’s Park
Jury Duty
NeverushaconA tough tough race, but looking forward to it.
I’ll take in most of the other races, and will be with….
Getareason
Hey Little Boy
Ayr Of Elegance
FiveaftermidnightAt Goodwood, very straight forward today, and I’ll be with
Dominating
Polish
Rumble Inthejungle
Beat The Bank
Parliament House
Four White Socks
Masham StarAt both meeting, it’ll be a combination of singles and perms, and not fully worked out how to do it yet. Can afford to be a wee bit “gung ho” now, but won’t be giving yesterday’s winnings back, I’ll be sure of that.
August 2, 2018 at 08:22 #1361872Back down to earth yesterday, and although I ducked Polish in the second race, there were still a couple of them who were never sighted. Rumble Inthejungle and Masham Star made a decent dent though, so not a total disaster.
Biggest disappointment was Beat The Bank. It was a very poor Sussex Stakes, and I was fairly confident, but at least no excuses, and beaten fair and square.
I pulled back a wee bit at Galway, and biggest loser was Fiveaftermidnight, who I had a decent each way go with, and only silver lining was that that was at the expense of Ayr of Elegance.
In the end, I only staked half of what I normally would on The Plate, and it’ll be similar story in The Hurdle today.
August 2, 2018 at 08:49 #1361878Plenty of competitive enough stuff today, but certainly not “knock out” stuff, and the feature race of the day, The Galway Hurdle, is a bloody cracker.
I’m with Le Richebourg, and Project Bluebook Ante-Post, and have added Ancient Sands, and The Game Changer. Like The Plate, I haven’t bet full Stakes here, as I’ve never had the winner, but with the AP Prices, and the other pair on offer at 50’s, I’ll have a decent return, in the unlikely event I finally crack this bloody race lol
The beginners Chase looks very interesting, and I could make a case for Round Tower at a price, and also It’s All Guesswork, who’s a little more obvious. I’ll make up my mind nearer the off on that pair.
The Fillies Race at 1525 is decent, and although jockey booking is a big concern, I’ll definitely be betting Broadway, while I’ll also be be betting Surrounding who ran so well last week.
That should be that at Galway, and there’s even less at Goodwood. It’s not the best of cards at Goodwood today, and really struggling to find a race of interest. It’s a wee bit disappointing. To be fair, the Thursday is always the weak link, but it’s a great meeting, so got to have a go on something. I’ll chance Cupboard Love, and Reddiac for a few bob.

August 2, 2018 at 16:05 #1361948Normal Service resumed then Bobby, what a start from you. Good luck going forward, and obviously with The Bluebook today.
August 2, 2018 at 21:25 #1361996Some of Jessie Harringtons horses have been outrunning their odds at Galway; having missed her 33/1 winner the other day I was on her 33/1 2nd today. Not many runners tomorrow though. I did have 3p ew on the Plate winner though albeit backing plenty more in the race; I think my reasoning was that it seemed to run well FTO. It probably fitted into the ‘why the hell is this thing running’ system as well. I did back Cupboard Love today given that my guest dog follows me around because he knows I give him sausages on a regular basis, but that system didn’t work today…he’s going home tomorrow so the dog related selections will come to an end!
August 3, 2018 at 11:04 #1362050I didn’t really ever get the time to look at The Plate properly Moe, through work, and also being on holiday now. I’m fairly sure now, I would have been with Clarcam, looking at him in hindsight, but done and dusted now.
No such excuses in The Hurdle, and of the 4, I only looked at Blazer. No excuses for mine, and don’t think I would have ever given Sharjah much more than a second glance.
Loving your “dog” angle, I’ll have to have a wee Lucky 31 soon with a canine theme lol. If it comes in and extra big bone for that idiot of mine.
August 3, 2018 at 12:34 #1362061Not much doing again today, but The Golden Mile looks a cracker, and it’s the standout race today.
I’ve added Hors De Combat as a saver to my Ante-Posts, and hoping for a change of luck from yesterday.
Yesterday had no excuses, Broadway & Surrounding just weren’t good enough, while The Hurdle Runners were a big disappointment. Less said about Cupboard Love, the better.
Nothing really standing out away from the big race today at Goodwood, but at Galway, I’ll be with Vieux Morvan, Spider Web, and Top Othe Ra.

August 4, 2018 at 08:23 #1362161Absolutely delighted with Top Othe Ra, and though there was a Rule 4, happy happy with the 14’s, and after two slow days, it was great to get another double figure winner on the board. I’ve won a few quid off of him now, and he looks one to continue following in these handicaps, he’ll surely pay his way again.
No excuses for Vieux Morvan, who was backtracking at the time. Spider Web, however, hadn’t made his move, and was hampered out of it. Jockey tried to rush him back in to it, so can excuse his spill.
I picked the wrong saver in The Golden Mile, but take some solace from Seniority making the very early shortlist (when he was 20’s, 25’s FFS). Could have called him winner fair way out, though didn’t quite win in the manner I thought he would. Master The World was a shade disappointing.
August 4, 2018 at 10:04 #1362195I think it’s safe to say it’s hardly been a vintage Goodwood, and though the renewals of The Sussex, and The Nassau were well below standard, then, Gordon Stakes aside, it’s pleasing to say that today’s card is a cracker.
I love Goodwood, definitely on my “to do” list, and today’s fine Card centres around the big race of the week, The Stewards Cup. Enjoyed many a good win in this over the years, but I’ve went off the boil in it over the last few years, and with those at the head of the market looking solid, that record looks like continuing.
I love Justanotherbottle, and I think he’s (potentially) as good as anything in the line up. There’s just a massive question mark over the trip. Pettochside is weighted to run a race at a track he normally performs well at, but he also has a question mark, with his disappointing run in the week. Growl is also weighted to go well, and he’ll be a saver at the very least.
Classic Seniority is in fine form in the opener, and has to be on the shortlist, while Tommy G, who looks in the handicappers grip to be fair, still looks one to consider.
In the 1425, Soldier In Action, looks nailed on with last years renewal in mind, though I’m aware that these obvious ones don’t always deliver.
The 1615 looks difficult to fathom, and I’m swaying towards Glory.
The 1650 has me scratching my head, but a smashing race nonetheless. Rum Runner and Chai Chai both appeal at big prices, but if I do have a go, it may be with another outsider, Tangled, who looks very interesting.
A fine day finishes off with me torn between The Night Porter, The Warrior.
Galways rolls on as well, and like Goodwood, has a very strong Saturday Card.
The Handicap Hurdle looks a belter, and at 50’s, I’ll definitely be including Kilcarry Bridge, but it’s also impossible to ignore Uradel, who was a smasher for me on Monday.
If Uradel wasn’t good enough, then I also have Truffles back out. She was a huge winner for me, and not surprisingly, she’s shortlist material again with a penalty. She owes me nothing, so don’t have to play, but from the tricast in that race, all 3 return, so at the very least, it’ll be a repeat of that.
Also making appeal are……
Broome
Astronomers
Facethepuckout
Grand Canyon (definite ew)
Suinda
Mr EverestA growing list then, and as well as most races at Hamilton tonight, away from the big two meetings, I also fancy….
Buildmeupbuttercup
Von Blucher
Q Twenty Boy
Midnight Malibu
Three Card TrickA fab day’s racing then, but from a betting point of view, just too many selections. As I’ve said before, days like these, when I have bumper selections, are the days I don’t have a placer, never mind a winner, so quite simply, I can’t bet them all.
I’ll probably bet six or seven of them, and if any of those mentioned above actually do the business, then I’ll come on here and say that they were the ones I went with lol

August 4, 2018 at 23:42 #1362284Another very decent day, albeit would have been even better had Justanotherbottle held on. Still, any ew shot at 25’s and 33’s is a good one, and was a fair sized bet too, so all good. He’s becoming a proper favourite this boy, and surely more to come.
Few other winners from the earlier list, five in total, as well as several placed, so another decent day, though as promised, won’t go in to them in too much detail, as wasn’t calling the final selections beforehand. Biggest return was Justanotherbottle, and biggest loser was Grand Canyon. Edited.
Easily my best ever Galway/Goodwood week, and The Tricast at Galway topped it off nicely.
Been a great week, just wish it always went like this.
One day to go, and got a few lined up for Galway tomorrow, and will be looking to go out in style, but definitely wait till tomorrow.
August 5, 2018 at 12:04 #1362306Been some week, and can afford to throw caution to the wind today, with a few outsiders on the horizon.
No time to discuss, but will be betting these, with big prices for many of them, and decent ew concessions. Can afford a washout today, but if any joy with any of them, I may add some of the others from the forecasts.

August 18, 2018 at 13:42 #1363413Not had a runner since Avalanche, over a week ago at Leapordstown. Back today though, and with Growl in the big one. Lots going for him, but I’ve bet him four times in the last year and a half, so as well as being something of a jinx for him, there’s also that disappointing win ratio. More hopeful than confident.
I’ll probably have a backup in the race, and talked myself into this pair at Newbury.
Most interesting horse for me today, is Galvin at Perth. Thankfully he’s unbackable, but I think he has the profile of a horse who connections could have some fun with long term.

August 22, 2018 at 01:18 #1363687Delighted with Squats on Saturday, and very pleased I went with the each way with Growl as well.
I’d love the run to continue at York, but even if it doesn’t, won’t complain, as this is a meeting I love, and taken days off work for it as well. Normally a graveyard meeting for me, but a repeat of last year would be fab.
Be usual mixtures of singles and perms, taking full use of the place concessions. Any joy, and I’ll up Stakes as the day goes on.
The opener is a cracker, and I’ll definitely be with at least a couple. Already bet Holmeswood at 14’s, and the 12’s looks decent for the each way. As for the backups, chewing over…..
El Astronaute
Final Venture
Boom The Groom
Midnight MalibuIt might make more sense for me to go with the latter pair at the prices.
In The Acombe, I think Broome is solid at 9-2, bu I could see me also going with Pogo each way at 25’s
The Great Voltigeur is tricky, and I like the 5’s for Wells Farrh Go, while in The Juddmonte, I can’t believe the 20’s for Latrobe, went for him each way, and I’ve taken Benbatl as backup, with the 12’s being very fair.
The 1615 is a very strong race and I’ll be with main fancy Soldier In Action, and also Eye Of The Storm, who looks a crazy old price at 20’s+.
The finale is a nightmare, but at this moment, siding with Thegreatestshowman, but very distracted by….
