WD with your loyalty to Euchen Glen you two. Chicken dinner tonight
July 15, 2018 at 00:55 #1360375Thanks Grass, and well done Moe.
What a day that was, and my old pal Euchen was obviously the icing on the cake. One of those (very) rare occasions, where you know you’ve got it in the bag early doors. The moment he hit the front, that was that, and an absolute peach of a ride. Things have started well, so to get a 33-1 shot, was great. Chuffed to bits.
For the first time in a while, the perms really kicked in as well, with Justanotherbottle & Sir Dancealot, both 28’s, Midnight Wilde 15-2, and Beat The Bank 3’s, all coming in too, so along with Euchen Glen, it was a day to enjoy. I did say I was looking forward to it, but no way did I think it would go that well.
Great to see Beat The Bank getting some compensation for Royal Ascot, while Justanotherbottle would have won if the draw had been kinder. He was a fairly lumpy one for me today, so to nab the 5th, well that made a huge difference. He more than made up for The Rockingham, though I’m still undecided about him over 6f, in The Stewards Cup. Smashing run from Sir Dancealot too, and though didn’t quite get money back for my Ante-Post 50’s, he was still nice odds for the perms.
A Momentofmadness didn’t get his lead, and Tempestatefloresco was brutal, not much more I can say.
After a day like that, I would normally dive in, but just struggling a wee bit with The Sunday Card, though a couple do stand out.
After coming in for me the other week, I have to give Draycott Place another go at around 7’s, while at Stratford, a horse I was waiting for on the flat, Sheriff, appears over hurdles. He’s around the same odds, and I’ll split stakes with Go Now Go Now. Win bets at those prices.

July 15, 2018 at 19:47 #1360440I keep having to back Masham Star having stayed at Middleham again the other week; he’s bound to win the day I don’t notice he’s running, though. Also had to back that ‘something or other Rory’ horse yesterday, having seen him on the gallops, but he finished last’ish….
July 16, 2018 at 17:01 #1360513Bob thread for open now up mate it is
Any early views on big sprint on friday at Hamilton looks a cracker mate
July 17, 2018 at 02:09 #1360525It’ll probably be Coetzee, and one other for me Darren, but I’ll hold off until I confirm the odds.
That race on Friday looks a belter mate, and three jumping off the page…….
Classic Seniority
Mr Wagyu
MujassamVery keen on the three of them, particularly Mujassam, but the lack of Ante-Post Market takes any early pressure off. If things go to plan, I’ll be there on Friday, so hopefully can cheer one of them home.
July 22, 2018 at 13:23 #1360859Good days racing yesterday, but couldn’t have went much worse over the jumps, with Court Minstrel, All Set To Go, and Calett Mad all running badly, in fact that Summer Hurdle, well I couldn’t have got it more wrong.
Had a couple in the sprint at Newbury yesterday, and happy to get a nice return from Snazzy each way, which made a big difference.
One horse I didn’t bet, after he cost me at Ascot, was Cleonte. Really happy with the way he went, and he has to be considered later in the season, with The Cesarewitch a plausible target surely. I thought he was very disappointed at Ascot, and didn’t really agree with some of the comments I read, that he was a little unlucky in running, I just thought he came up short. That was more like it yesterday, and well on the radar now.
Smashing stuff today as well, and like runners at every meeting.
At The Curragh, a horse I’ve been keeping an eye on is Broadway, and I’m happy to chance her each way, especially as she’s around 33’s, while Surrounding looks fair each way at 10’s. Not betting him, but with The Galway Plate in mind, Sandymount Duke is a a very interesting runner late on.
Also in Ireland, and there are some nice races at Tipperary as well. Cecil Corbett isn’t the most reliable, but I’ve had my moments with him, and can’t leave that 16’s alone with 4 Places, while 17-2 looks crazy each way value for Special Diamond, while Classic Theatre is nailed on for the perms.
On these shores, making the perms, are Nathless, Kylie Rules, Lake Shore Drive, and The Drone. The Drone will get added as well on his own, as you can get 9’s to 3 places.
I’ll only bet in the last at Tipperary if I have any joy earlier, but I will have the forecasts just now.

July 28, 2018 at 01:20 #1361215Happy enough with those on Sunday………well maybe not Special Diamond. That 17-2 was indeed crazy, should have been 40’s.
Delighted with the run from Broadway, and I just feel she’s worth keeping on side of. Surrounding should have won at the 10’s, but got an interesting ride in the finish, just going down to stablemate. Hmmmmmm. Shouldn’t complain though, and got the place money. The Drone really made my day though, and nabbed 22’s before the off. Lost it on the nod, and really made my day. The real good news though, was that he got up after collapsing after the line. Happy Days. Perms came in as well, with Classic Theatre, and Kylie Rules scoring. Not for much I might add, but all counts I suppose.
July 28, 2018 at 02:02 #1361220Got a real soft spot for Rostropovich after landing me a few quid last Autumn at The Curragh, and more importantly in The Irish Derby. Very rarely I follow these types, but like Broadway, another I just like. On at 50’s each way for tomorrow, and a third place finish would do me just fine. Took same price for The Arc as well, so would be nice if he could keep that bet alive tomorrow.
There’s another couple of decent races at Ascot as well, and the 1425 looks tough. Neither look that well treated, but both Rum Runner, and Protected Guest will get bet to 5 Places, at around 22’s and 33’s, and would be great if one them made the frame. Six places up for grabs in The Gigaset, and I’ll stick with early fancy Cardsharp at around 16’s, while Spanish City (win saver) at around 14’s, and Clubbable (ew) at 28’s, will also get added.
At York, Wahash will get one more try for the win at around 11’s, while The Skybet Dash looks a strong renewal. I really like Foolaad, and with six places up for grabs again, he looks a big price, as does Orvar. Holmeswood has disappointed this season, but I just suspect that his season is gearing towards The Ebor meeting, and as I could see him make the frame, I’ll add him to the forecasts.
At Newcastle, I’ll side with St Andrews for the win, at around 8’s.
Can afford fancier perms today, so adding these guys ew……

July 28, 2018 at 14:44 #1361352It looks as if you have got off to a flyer Venture, nothing new there then. Good luck for the months ahead
July 29, 2018 at 12:06 #1361424Good to see you back Buckers…….been spending your Ten To Follow loot lol
Yeah, very happy with the start of things, not fortunes, but plenty giving return, which is encouraging………though I’ll quietly sweep yesterday’s runners under the carpet FFS
July 29, 2018 at 12:14 #1361425Only one worthy of note yesterday, and that was Protected Guest. Was on at 66’s, and missed 5th Place by a whisker. Was biggest bet of the day, and at that price should have been on the exchange too as a lay in running, but coverage was brutal, and didn’t get on.

Calino D’Airy @ 16’s WinJuly 30, 2018 at 19:34 #1361539One of the best weeks of the year, with Galway, and Goodwood. Two outstanding meetings, and something for everyone.
Last two Galways have been losers for me, so easy going Day One, with Uradel 14’s, and Brutal 40’s, both to the 5 Places.

July 30, 2018 at 20:25 #1361546Great start VtC
I didn’t see the race but it sounded like a good finish by your chap from the race report.July 31, 2018 at 09:55 #1361585Thanks Grass, very very happy with that, makes a huge difference, and really takes the pressure off for the week.
Yeah, it was a good finish by him, and you could have called him the winner a fair way out.
July 31, 2018 at 10:54 #1361589So many selections today, not just at the two big meetings, but elsewhere as well. Far too many selections for perms, and I might just split the afternoon and evening runners. As per, it will be taking maximum place concessions availabile.
Goodwood
Best race of the day is easily the 1645, decent animals, and ultra competitive. Big problem this race for me, with so many old favourites in there.A Momentofmadness really disappointed me last time, but at the same time I can’t “big him up”, and then ditch him off of one run. High in the weights, but deserves to be.
Pettochside has done me several good turns, loves it here, and is weighted to go well.
Poyle Vinnie is a real “blast from the past” for me, but after a couple of years in the wilderness, he looks as good as ever this year. His last Hamilton run puts him bang there.
El Astronaute will love this, and though tougher looking than last year, he’s been very good this season, and becoming a real favourite too.
I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve put up Boom The Groom on here, but thankfully he’s rewarded me a few times, and he looks on the way back, and at a price too.
With those five in there, it’s a difficult race to look at objectively, but I might just go with
A Momentofmadness
Pettochside
Boom The GroomStill looking at the other races, but will definitely back Society Red, and Sir Dancealot, and looking at another couple.
Galway
Pakora
Ploughland
Avalanche
TrufflesI wanted to bet in the second race, but the likes of Gangster, and Winter Escape are muddying the water for me.
Betting Flaxen Flare is a real issue for me, and I can’t leave him as the outsider at Perth, while at Beverley, Irv looks a fair old price.
July 31, 2018 at 23:35 #1361728Had a nice 25/1 win today on Under the Covers, but only because I’m dog sitting someone’s whippet and he spends most of his day on my bed under the duvet, so I had to back it!
August 1, 2018 at 00:52 #1361733Smashing Moe, well done, couldn’t have had him at all, and the 25’s was superb.
