Well it was pretty close all day until Catherine (Tonge) pulled off a place with her wellington (Night Breeze) for 24 pts. So it did go down to the last race but none of us could get enough points to catch her but Graham (BigG) made a valiant effort with Sondad in the last but it was only enough to get him up to second.
So big congratulations to Tonge for winning by quite a margin in the end

Also well done to BigG and Greenasgrass for getting on the podium and special mention to Greenasgrass for being the only person to have a winning wellington
Good stuff from Refuse To Bend for being third top scorer today
Just a quick mention about the cakes
I managed to win those

Finally any problems with your scores let me know and I will check them for you. Thanks everyone for entering
Thanks to the boss for doing the admin
and I hope you all enjoyed it
Royal Ascot next stop in a couple of weeks
June 6, 2026 at 18:34 #1768274Well played Tonge
Pleased with my second day score but got caught in the stalls on day one
The more I know the less I understand.
June 6, 2026 at 18:40 #1768275Once again, a very exciting competition to the end – so many people with a chance of winning! However, Tonge and BigG both did a bit of pushing and shoving and managed to evict Mickeyjp from his spot on the podium. Also we must not forget Greenasgrass with that wonderful winning Wellie who climbed up to take third place.
Congratulations to all three of you!

A short intermission and then we will be back raring to go with the Royal Ascot competition. Let’s hope the weather improves by then.

Hope you have enjoyed the competition as much as we both have. Hasta la proxima!
June 6, 2026 at 18:52 #1768278Well done Tonge
Thank you Raymos for running this

June 6, 2026 at 19:04 #1768282Blimey, seems like a lucky meeting for me (not that it’s ever been converted into cash winnings – though I did have a small bet on Christmas Day). When I saw that Too Soon had won, I remembered that silly comment I made and thought “if only”. Surprised & delighted to have won. Thanks to the Raymos for organising. Roll on Royal Ascot (at which I always do dismally!.
June 6, 2026 at 19:07 #1768283Can we have another Day Raymo? I think myself and RTB were just getting going.🤪
Seriously well played Tonge
and BigG and Green. It was one of the trickiest Derby Competitions ever and you all nailed it.
Well done to Green for making Christmas Day your Wellington, it was certainly the day for them.⚡️🌪🌧☔️
Big thank you to Raymo and Tracey for running this and I did treat myself to a large cream doughnut on your behalf when my Nap Christmas Day romped in. 🍩

Not long until Ascot now.perhaps we should change The Wellington to a Parasol and hope for good weather.
See you there
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 6, 2026 at 19:20 #1768286Thanks Jac, and yes, why is it called Wellington? I’m fine with the name (and have probably missed a detailed explanation somewhere) but am curious. Assume it would have to be changed if somebody thoughtlessly named their horse “Wellington”!
June 6, 2026 at 19:29 #1768288Many thanks Raymo and Tracey, that was a fantastic competition
and the changing at the top so many times shows just how close this was.Well done Catherine (Tonge), that Wellie was like a grenade thrown into
the competition, it blew us all away. Great win
I’m delighted to share the other places on the podium with Greenasgrass,
well done with a great effort Green
I thought I had knocked it off earlier when my Nap Lexington Blitz came out
like a scalded cat in the Dash. He was well clear but forgot to fill the tank
this morning and 3rd was decent enough. Anyway, we all have stories like that.Incidently Raymo, are you aware that your good lady’s name, Tracey, can be traced
back to meaning “fighter” or “warlike” from Norman times. Just sayin
June 6, 2026 at 19:31 #1768289Well done Tonge, you knocked it out of the park and well done BigG as well.
Thanks as ever to the Raymos and roll on Ascot
June 7, 2026 at 02:26 #1768342Oops, looks like I got a bit muddled at the end (nothing unusual there then
)
I gave the Wellington “grenade” to Tonge, who didn’t need one anyway, and it
should have gone to my amigo on the Podium, Greenasgrass. Apologies for that
bloomer Green, it was a cracker though
June 7, 2026 at 11:10 #1768357Well done Tonge, well deserved victory, credit to those in behind.
Thankyou as always to the Raymo’s.. great work

June 7, 2026 at 14:02 #1768386Well done Jac with the nap on Christmas Day and I did back it myself at 14/1 Bet365 and 11/1 Boylesports and didn’t get any rule fours

Tonge it is called a Wellington because a “nap” refers to Napoleon so hence a “wellington” refers to the Duke of Wellington who was better than Napoleon. Well that is my logic anyway

Graham it does not surprise me at all that Tracey’s name means fighter or warlike !! Why do you think I agree with her all the time

See you all a week on Tuesday for Royal Ascot
June 7, 2026 at 14:45 #1768390Congrats Catherine!
A great two days of picking and the use of a Wellington! Well done to Graham and greenasgrass for battling all the way to the end and making it onto the podium!Well done to Raymo for winning the cakes (again).
Huge thanks to Raymo and Tracey for running this competition for us again!
They are so much fun.June 7, 2026 at 16:04 #1768397I backed Christmas Day with Paddy Power Tracey and got 25% of my winnings taken when they resettled all the bets. Seems unfair really but I guess you takes your chance. Thinking of switching after that but at least got ahead of them with the price 12/1 he was around 18’s early morning so someone knew something
Thanks for yours and Raymo’s hard work on this..Fue muy divertido
Looking forward to Royal Ascot .. 5 days to decide when to use the killer Wellington.
