He needs to think before speaking sometimes.
May 27, 2018 at 18:12 #1355216I imagine he would appreciate your vote of confidence in that he’s capable of thinking
May 27, 2018 at 21:22 #1355222I am sure while all you snowflakes are getting upset on behalf of Pat Smullen he probably knows Chapman and wouldn’t have taken any offence.
The curse of the 21 century people who get offended on someone else behalf.
May 27, 2018 at 23:27 #1355229You’ve missed the point completely there, steve.
May 27, 2018 at 23:40 #1355231For the benefit of the penultimate poster, I am taking offence on behalf of someone I know who got the all-clear following pancreatic cancer but is still suffering from the effects of chemotherapy three months after it finished. The affront in Chapman’s remark is towards such people, their family and friends, not Smullen.
May 28, 2018 at 12:38 #1355246@steveh31….I’m certainly not a snowflake Steve my husband was fighting Bowel Cancer 18 months ago and I know for a fact that the treatment is nothing to joke about, or make light of so I’m certainly not getting offended on someone elses behalf . He goes for his final colonoscopy on Monday and we are hopeful for a good result.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 28, 2018 at 13:21 #1355251I’m not surprised to hear that sort of insensitive claptrap from Chapman but I didn’t expect it on this forum.
Best wishes to your hubby Triptych. Hope you get good news x
May 28, 2018 at 13:49 #1355253Thank you Tonge hopefully the end of a long road of anxious days and we are positive people.
I’m sure Steve didn’t mean his post to come out as it did, going completely off topic and turning it upon those posting on this Thread regarding Chapman’s remark. Even if Pat Smullen does know him it doesn’t give MC the right to make a cheap throw away comment like that.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 29, 2018 at 13:17 #1355304Also going through this with my dad. Although the Chemo won’t cure completely we are hoping for a better quality and longer life once the treatment has finished. After his first lot I did wonder whether he would carry on with the treatment, he felt that bad. But he has managed better since with the other medication to counteract the chemo although he has had his moments. This year hasn’t been the best.
I don’t think I would have been offended by Chapman if I had heard the remark but just thought “Stupid ****, now seeing first hand what the effects can be.
Hope all goes well with you and your family Jac.
May 29, 2018 at 17:13 #1355325I’ve had it many times with Matt Chapman, you get lapsed into a false sense of security with him. You think he’s okay after all but then immediately you can’t stand the bloke. I’ve been in total agreement with him for months/years about the farcical jockeys championship then he comes up the other day with the most ridiculous points system you could think of for it
May 29, 2018 at 18:45 #1355327Thanks homer and thoughts with you and your dad too, it takes a toll on everyone around and you can never quite put it out of your mind.
Like you I think if I’d had heard Chapman say that remark I would have just thought what a Pr@tt
but being labelled as someone who would take offence on someone else’s behalf, well that’s not me, or you or anyone who has been down that road with loved ones..JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 29, 2018 at 20:49 #1355334Thanks Jac
May 30, 2018 at 12:57 #1355379Hopefully it will just be a matter of time before Chapman is removed from air. I cannot believe he could have been so insensitive. I have been having treatment myself for an incurable cancer for five years, it isn’t something to joke about, whether he knows the jockey or not, there are plenty of viewers who would have been seriously offended by his “banter”.
I cannot stand the man and now rarely watch racing live now so that I can fast forward him from my screen. I cannot see what he brings to the coverage at all, an appalling presenter.May 30, 2018 at 15:39 #1355387My Wife’s sister went through both Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy last year. Sadly, it just wasn’t the tickety boo experience Chapman made it sound like. If he wants to sign up for the treatment I will be only too happy to administer the toxic chemicals and savage rays to him and see how chipper he is feeling afterwards.
It didn’t make my sister in law feel better, it made her feel worse, and she died within five months, a skeletal figure desperately trying to buy some time for the sake of her kids and grandchildren.
So all in all Matt, not Tickety Boo, more Prickety Boo.
Know your role and shut your hole would be my advice.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 30, 2018 at 16:13 #1355392I see that Matt Chapman has been dedicated his own special event at Gowran on Monday 4th June:-

Remember, don’t forget UR Helmet. Is there a prize for the biggest Helmet I wonder.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 31, 2018 at 00:52 #1355450Just reading this Thread shows how many people must have been affected in some way by what Chapman said.
Crepello….Every good wish on your road ahead and hope to see you posting here on TRF for many years to come.

Steve…it’s a long hard road with no guarantees, so sorry for your sister-in-law and family. It’s a sad world and we’ve also a daughter who went through chemo twice with leukaemia at 2 and again at 5, you feel like your looking at life from inside a bubble while normal life goes on.
Thankfully the second course of treatment worked and she was married 6 weeks ago.If MC had personally said that remark to Pat Smullen off air perhaps over a beer or two it might have been taken in a completely different way, I can see that, but Matt Chapman only has one person on the Agenda when the camera rolls and that’s himself he gives no thought before putting his mouth in gear.
