Chapman is annoying. Talking rubbish again this morning, the others doing their bests to ignore/tone it down. But tbh I get the impression Matt is not really in there for the “racing enthusiast”/us TRFers, more the casual viewer.
Value Is EverythingJune 2, 2018 at 18:15 #1355933A sense of humour is important but not everyone is born with one of those
I think a positive attitude helps.
I find from my experience with health issues and of those of friends is that the person with the illness tend to want to just carry on as normal as possible and the ones that worry the most are the close friends and family. Of course that is not always the case and everyone’s individual circumstances vary plus everything is much harder when terminal.I have always liked Matt, I like his enthusiasm, although annoying when he is good he is good but the trouble with Matt is his mouth is to big for his foot and for all the good he can do he does tend to let himself down with speaking before he thinks.

Value Is EverythingJune 2, 2018 at 19:05 #1355944I saw remarkably little of Chapman today which was a delight.

Quick message to Jac, don’t know if you remember me from the old days of the AOL racing chat room and meeting up at Doncaster and Pontefract many years ago? I dont go racing anymore but good luck for your hubby 😊
June 2, 2018 at 19:34 #1355947@philwalker..
Phil think you must have me confused with another Triptych as I never posted on AOL or went to Donny or Pontefract act as much as I would have loved to have met you.
I live in Essex and am a regular at Nemmarket every meeting…many thanks for your good wishes and if you ever go to NeWmarket let me know via PM…Jac
I did post on the dreadful Yahoo horseracing site before this under the name Mysilv it was dreadful and full of trolls who kept sabotaging our competitions but as luck had it found TRF while browsing for another site..haven’t looked back since..
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 2, 2018 at 19:34 #1355948Well for what it’s worth i like Chapman, it’s all opinions people….we all have one and for anyone thinking he was being disrepectable to cancer victims then i think you get offended so ridiculously.
June 2, 2018 at 20:41 #1355952Ginger is right
He tells his “jokes” very loudly and very slowly staring at you to make sure you laugh. Used to work with someone like that to whom I would respond with a stone face

June 2, 2018 at 23:57 #1355960Oh it was quite amusing when Chappers was doing a piece with Gleeson and then saw Buick and quickly rushed over to get a few words.
Only problem being one set of railings were between them but undeterred Chappers put both hand on the top rail ready to clearly vault over it only to misjudge the height he needed to get his legs at to clear the railing and ended up slithering over and almost falling on his face (poetry not in motion). Fair play he styled it out like only a bloke can and proceeded to interview Buick as if nothing had happened.
Later on in another segment with Gleeson they were both sitting in one of the catapult rides (I believe the actual name is called Slingshot), Chappers tells Gleeson he is paying for the ride and sends him off to do so, Gleeson promptly pays for only Chappers then walks back to the front of the ride and gleefully (no pun intended) watches as Chappers is fired straight up into the air https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/1002893575237992448
Even after all that he still managed to snag a quick interview with Sheikh Mo, his daughter and Princess Haya in the winners enclosure after Masar’s win and then went on to do the master of ceremonies bit he got dumped from after last years Oaks.
June 3, 2018 at 10:39 #1355998I don’t think Gleeson was ever going to go up on that ride LD as Chappers was strapped in before he went off to pay. Great to see him being fired up to the heavens though with a not too dignified landing, like the one you described falling over the railings, he plays the Court Jester to a tee, guess that in itself will keep the kids entertained watching ITV racing (better than the Chuckle Brothers
)Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 3, 2018 at 10:59 #1356001You’d think it would dawn on him to ask himself why he keeps getting dumped from things, however, he is the toxic combination of: ignorant, thick-skinned, egotistical and publicity seeking.
June 3, 2018 at 17:16 #1356051‘Keeps getting dumped’?, who has dumped him ? and anyone that fronts up on any TV is ‘egotistical and publicity seeking’, maybe you’re right on him getting dumped so please enlighten me by who as i am interested, thanks.
June 3, 2018 at 17:34 #1356055I can take or leave him myself. He IS sometimes very annoying, has a tendency to leer over young women racegoers trying to mind their own business and enjoy the racing and the chemo comment was certainly unnecessary and insensitive. However, it is useful to have somebody on that team who is prepared to come up with controversial views, such as “that was a really poor ride by XXX”. Doubt we’d hear that from any of the others who apparently think that every jockey is “the nicest/most popular in the weighing room”.
June 3, 2018 at 17:44 #1356056Blue; dumped from Master of Ceremonies position for Oaks, dumped from Dancing On Ice commentary…
June 4, 2018 at 11:14 #1356097Tks GM, i was unaware of that….how very dare they ?
June 20, 2018 at 16:33 #1357589So Cracksman could now be retired, according to Chapman.
Just because he got beaten, I assume? Is this guy on a wind-up or is he simply an idiot?

tbh Gladiateur, I made a similar comment on the Royal Ascot section.
Seems to me the most obvious reason for Cracksman’s last two performances is temperament. He’d always needed pushing along (even last year) in order to show that brilliant speed. But he’s needed to be pushed along even to keep up nowadays. Where as laziness can sometimes help a horse if willing to pick up once asked… When that laziness becomes too ingrained the horse becomes unable to show the brilliance he’s shown previously.
If Cracksman were retired connections can make excuses for those two disappointing efforts; if kept in training three, four or five disappointments mean it’s harder to excuse and means that Champion Stakes becomes more of a memory.
So although I don’t want to see it, for breeding reasons I could understand if Cracksman’s retired.
Value Is EverythingJune 21, 2018 at 13:46 #1357737Any ambivalence I had towards the man has evaporated quickly . I simply cannot be a*sed with the guy now . He is a circus act who is not in the least bit funny .
He loves the sound of his own voice and constantly interrupts and talks over others , whilst vying for camera time . His ego has run away with him .
Yesterday at Royal Ascot , for example , he approached Jessie Harrington who was in position to watch her runner in the forthcoming race . Chapman approached , lyingly proclaiming that Jessie summoned him for a chat . She clearly had not and the look she gave indicated that she was less than amused .
He is a chancer and a total pain in the backside .
