“i couldnt have him getting near GDC.”
Benie v Honeysuckle vibes. I sided against Mullins there too whereas you thought Honeysuckle had no chance. I am looking forward to another De Bromhead/Mullins clash to see if Mullins regrets not running in the 3 mile race, which by the way he still may do and in my view he should to avoid defeat. Two class acts head to head of which opinion on superiority in this race will be divided.
March 7, 2022 at 17:41 #1586090Nothing wrong with you having that opinion mike, im not attacking you here lol i rarely read whatever it is you put up lol so please, dont take offence (ill take it as a postive that your so heavily on bob)
So you got a race correct? By a 1/2 length? And i got one incorrect? What are you getting at? You can take some of my ££ on the day on the exchanges if they both show… (they wont imo) ill give you better odds than 365 on the day (assuming thats who you use since 99% of your selections get cashed out?)
Also, what is it your basing bobs supposed superiority on? The capodanno run? GDC has clear and away the best novice chasing form, its not even close hence why gdc already has 4lbs up on bobby
Fwiw regarding honeysuckle, i was on her at 7/1 + for the mares novice for months before she got pulled, what a shame eh? Ive been trying to get her beat since, next week will be no different lol
March 7, 2022 at 18:09 #1586092Lol no offence taken or intended. Strong opinions at times and healthy debates is what it’s all about.
March 7, 2022 at 18:17 #1586093“Also, what is it your basing bobs supposed superiority on?”
The race distance.
March 7, 2022 at 20:02 #1586104Bob surely has more speed than GDC, Bob would have a solid chance of winning the arkle
This is 2m3 1/2f that gives him the edge
If he’s within 2 lengths jumping the last he will have too many gears imo
GDC should be running in the 3 mile race its mind boggling that they want to go here (and I’m on any race so not even completely pocket talking)
I still think mullins will sit down on Monday morning and see sense and put him in the old RSA
March 7, 2022 at 20:43 #1586114Saw an update today from Mullins who said that whilst he favours the Turners, Townend will have an important say in where GDC goes. If Townend repeats what he said in his post race interview last time out and Mullins agrees then the horse goes to the 3 mile race.
March 8, 2022 at 01:01 #1586131“Cheltenham would just be a one day meeting comprising of 6 races if some of you lot had your way!”
Not for me., the three day Festival was suberb. The best versus the best. Thats been lost.
BUY THE SUN
March 8, 2022 at 07:30 #1586136Am i missing something regarding race distance with GDC here, has his best jumps performance not come over 2m5? This is 2m3 1/2 over a stiff track, wheres the 3m jumps performance from, his hurdling career??
Tbh ill be surprised if bob even gets round these fences if GDC is in the race putting that much emphasis on jumping at speed
March 8, 2022 at 09:24 #1586142Ham both Bob and GDC have made one mistake (scruffy jump) each in their 2 novice chases. Not sure why you think Bob can’t jump. Yes it can be argued that from what we have seen so far GDC looks more natural over a fence however Bob isn’t terrible like you seem to be making out and he will just have too much speed in the closing stages. He’s run Ferny Hollow to a length over 2 miles off level weights, GDC just doesn’t have that kind of speed imo.
One can argue Bravemansgame so far looks like a more natural jumper than GDC, however similar comments would apply there. GDC’s jumping isn’t terrible and i think GDC would win over the distance.
March 8, 2022 at 10:33 #1586146I posted back in November about GDC possibly coming here and GDM going for the 3 miler so hopefully Willie sticks to his guns now.
Was interesting to hear Ruby talk about GDM on the Paddy Power preview last nightMarch 9, 2022 at 13:25 #1586237I’ve bet Dusart 25-1 ew, but I also have him for the brown advisory chase too
March 9, 2022 at 15:48 #1586259Mike, its not that Bob is a bad jumper; its the fact that he doesn’t make ground at his fences and GDC does. If they turn for home together I reckon Bob will win but I reckon Paul will let GDC attack his fences and Bob will have to work harder during the race to keep up. Like always, time will tell. GDC for me
March 9, 2022 at 16:00 #1586260We don’t know about this ‘gaining ground over fences’ theory Vautour as they haven’t run against each other. Neither have run at Cheltenham over fences as well. I recall how good Envoi Allen was in his novice chase preps in Ireland and he fell at the first at Cheltenham. Normally good jumpers have come a cropper at the Festival. In my opinion Bob Olinger will still be there on the home turn ready to roll as i think you will see a better Bob at the festival due to him still winning his preps when trainer form was lacklustre and, as said previously, he likely has more speed than GDC.
March 9, 2022 at 16:36 #1586267Envoi Allen beat nobody over fences in Ireland before Cheltenham in his novice year. A mickey mouse beginners at Down Royal beating January Jets, beat Assemble in a 4 runner Drinmore and then won a weak race at Punchestown where Asterion Forlonge fell at the first. Obviously he had the back class over hurdles, just like Bob Olinger
March 9, 2022 at 16:43 #1586268I wasn’t talking about what Envoi was beating, that’s a different conversation. I was talking about how well he was jumping.
March 13, 2022 at 15:07 #1586863I think GDC will end up in the Brown Advisory. Mullins knows the ground will dry out so may not take Bob on.
March 13, 2022 at 16:00 #1586870The odds on Betfair would suggest GDC is nailed on for the Turners.
