Is it just me who though capodanno was just given a soft ride there? Not saying he would have won but could have finished closer if he wanted to

The 2nd home probably isn’t a mug ham, and the first two miles clear of the rest. This race also has a Cheltenham Hill and a likely better pace.

Can we combine the Turners and BANC this year and have Bob vs GDC over 2m6f? Pretty please?

No rush green. The Gold Cup will be their target next year so plenty of time for that showdown.

    Agree with Mike007

They only really got racing coming out of the back straight and Bob as we saw last season can sustain a gallop when in a race with relative ease if and when they go faster (which they will) come Cheltenham.

Others will be flat to the boards but Bob has such a high cruising speed to take him into the sharp end and he will relish that hill.

Worthy fav….without a doubt, the value is in the place markets now…..

3m2f on a stiff track surely won’t be bobs bag at all

    He has loads of speed

“3m2f on a stiff track surely won’t be bobs bag at all”.

Not convinced that is true at this stage. As an example, today’s race he got a bit outpaced off the bend and did his best work in the closing stages. Even now, 3 miles looks within his grasp. Look at what A Plus Tard has done upped in trip from 2 miles to 2 and a half miles to 3 miles 2.

Bob reminds me a bit of Don Cossack so he might stay the Gold Cup trip next season

Hopefully GDC takes him on in this race first though

Latest odds for the 2m 5f Ladbrokes Novices Chase at the Dublin Race Festival – GDC 4/7 and Bob Olinger 10/3 (PP).

Bob Olinger to be wrapped away in cotton wool and head straight to Cheltenham from his last run?

11/2 for L’Homme Presse seems a very safe EW-bet. It is very hard to see him not finish at least in the top 3. He jumps the fences easily and I was impressev with the amount he found under pessure when asked. Bob obviously has a massive engine, but he needs to jump better to win this as easily as the odds suggest.

This could turn out to be one of the races of the week!

We could get Bob Olinger v Galopin Des Champs v L’homme Presse! How good would that be?

All the talk would be about the Irish pair, but like the previous poster L’homme Prese is the bet for me in this. Think he’s a terrific jumper, so quick and economical over his fences and really quick on his feet after landing…seen him just go to his left a couple of times when going right handed so Cheltenham no issue and he’s already chalked up a win there.

Pic D’Orhy is much better than what he showed for me as the Nicholls runners are clearly not right at present and not finishing their races off but what he did do is throw out a challenge to L’homme Presse’s jumping and he rose to the challenge…jumped and travelled like a very good horse.

Love Bob Olinger’s attitude and he certainly wouldn’t go down without a fight but jumpings the name of the game and I think this fella can really serve it up to Irealnds best…could see him taking a lead from GDS and asking that horse plenty of questions…my first decent bet I’ve had for this years festival…

Taken the 10s NRNB e/w about Jungle Boogie. I had fancied him for the NH Chase but he hasn’t been qualified for that (hasn’t run over 3m) and, with Galopin Des Champs seemingly heading for the Festival Novice Chase, Mullins doesn’t appear to have an obvious number one in the race over the intermediate trip.

Bob Olinger and L’Homme Pressé will clearly be formidable opponents but Jungle Boogie will surely be third… at worst.

Racing Post is reporting that Willie is leaning towards this race for GDC but nothing confirmed as yet.

    The plot thickens…
