It certainly puts the pathetic and ridiculous media circus regarding Kieren Fallon into perspective, please no more.
With the utmost respect, Phil, the media circus surrounding Fallons return to the saddle has absolutely nothing to do with this tragedy, so no perspective needed.
September 6, 2009 at 02:06 #247440I’m in a state of shock over this as Jamie had ridden Yourelikemefrank in two of his last three races finishing fourth and second and was looking forward to him going one better next Saturday back at Wolves.
RIP

September 6, 2009 at 02:10 #247443Its so tragic, why does life have to piss on people so young? I hope the family and friends of the deceased get all the support they will need.

Fair comment but this story, while utterly tragic is a news story and deserves to be followed up, but I don’t want to see any more nonsense about Fallon.
September 6, 2009 at 03:13 #247456This really puts everything into perspective.I really hope it was an accident. The alternative for the family,in what are already terrible circumstances, are unimaginable.
September 6, 2009 at 03:40 #247460I’m not familiar with the young jockeys concerned, but it’s always tragic when young lives are taken.
I don’t know any details of this story, but I hope that the cause of this fire is not traced to some dereliction of care on the part of those providing the housing for these pilots – apprentice jocks not generally being known to live in the most palatial of establishments.
September 6, 2009 at 04:06 #247465Such a shock and so tragic for the families who ever have to go through this.
At Ayr in June Jamie Kyne rode a hat trick on the Friday night was was being touted as a future champion and top class rider for years to come.
How someone can do such a thing is beyond belief and they are not human like the rest of us.
R.I.P. Jamie Kyne
September 6, 2009 at 12:01 #247493Shocking and very sad news. Jamie Kyne was well on his way to the top.
September 6, 2009 at 12:26 #247498I can’t even find the words to describe what I feel about this.
IF this really was arson stuff the EU bring back the death penalty FFS!!

Most of racing life centred round the yard at Bellwood Cottages, Settrington where John Quinn who I have known since his riding days now trains. I’ve been there hundreds of times, stayed weekends, mucked out, ridden out and had a long standing social realtionship with the family. The place has a very special place in my life and Jamie and Jan’s (now confirmed) deaths, who I never met, shocked the living daylights out of me. Just felt so close to home.
I know what John and his wife Sue are like and how badly they will take this. They are wonderful people and they would treat Jamie and Jan like they would their own kids.
I knew who the victims were before this thread started, everyone in racing in did but there are families involved here.Ian Brennan was injured when he leapt from the building, has a broken leg but is fine.
There’s no value in speculating and as to date a man has been arrested on suspicion of Arson, he has not been charged the last I heard. There are plenty rumours flying about but that’s all they are at the moment.
No doubt we will get the whole story when the police have competed their enquiries.
September 6, 2009 at 13:33 #247506Fist I don’t think it was Ian Brennan that broke his leg as he took two rides for Quinn at Thirsk yesterday
I think it was Dean Pratt that broke his legs
September 6, 2009 at 13:59 #247511"Life brings tears, smiles and memories…
The tears dry…
The smiles fade….
But the memories last forever…"These are words from Jan Wilson’s Bebo page. I was browsing the web looking for info on the Malton fire when I came across it.
Such a tragic end. My heart goes out to those closest to them at this time. Even more heartbreaking when you consider their age and talent.
I’ve pasted the link to her page below. She comes across as someone who just loved life and then…Poor girl.

My apologies, I stand corrected, heads up my backside I sat and watched Ian ride Northern Flyer yesterday
September 6, 2009 at 17:21 #247546There was suppose to be a minutes silence here at Worcester – what a shame a significant number of those present chose to ignore it – I sometimes wonder why I bother following this sport when you look at some of those who follow it.

Its not the sport though mate its society as a whole. Yes the majority will be respectful but there are a lot of people who just couldn’t give a damn about anyone or anything other than whatever directly affects them. Sad but true.
September 6, 2009 at 17:42 #247556I went to Jan Wilson’s Bebo page as mentioned by Bosranic. Knowing about her fate makes it a strange mix of shedding a tear and lifting the spirits.
Read Jan’s attempt at understanding the racehorse in ‘A HORSE’S PLEA’ some way down the page.

September 6, 2009 at 17:54 #247563Paul, it was probably just a case of people not being aware that there was a minute’s silence, or what it was about.
