No I’m not after directions or train times, it’s time for a fresh start. The focal point of my last thread, Un Atout, literally had his season ended before it begun and I never quite caught up from there after enduring about my worst jumps campaign to date. Things can only get better from here

Saying that the flat’s never been a friend of mine, although the £50e/w I have on My Titania for the Guineas could help set the wheels in motion if she turns out to be the filly I think she is. I’ve also had a speculative punt on an unraced Ballydoyle filly for the Oaks. Ruby Tuesday is a big price for Epsom, although it’s not unlike Aidan and his cronies to send a filly out at a decent price for this. She’s by Galieo and out of a Darshaan mare who’s insides must resemble a mile and a half round Epsom as she’s got a fair record of firing out youngsters who grab a place round there. If young ‘Ruby‘ turns out to be an exception to the rule I won’t be missing my tenner each-way at 50s anyhow.
Looking further ahead to Cheltenham, where this thread will come to a close (
), I’ve already fairly filled my boots. Grabbing a sneaky 100/1 for Holywell for the Gold Cup (£12.50e/w), £50 win on Taquin Du Seuil at 10s for the Ryanair and throwing More Of That in a £25e/w double with The New One, I’ll clearly be hoping Jonjo has another lively week. Should Sprinter Sacre not take his place in the QMCC line-up it would look another wide open race. Given how well he ran on only his second chase start aligned with Arkle winners’ records in the following year’s big un you’d have to assume not many people have taken Western Warhorse too seriously. I’m not in that camp though, and the 20/1 looks value to me for a potential improver. I’ve had £25e/w on him also.Sticking with the here and now, my next big (ish) bet will be at Aintree on my favourite
beast, First Lieutenant. It may sound melodramatic to say his withdrawal on the morning of the Gold Cup ruined my festival, but in essence it did. I really wanted to see him take his chance in conditions he’d finally relish. He should get that in the Betfair Bowlwhere he bids for back to back victories and, just as importantly, he’ll go there fresher than his opponents. They could include the likes of Dynaste who I have no fear of as, off the top of my head, he has a habit of *edit* NOT being able to put two good runs together. That aside I still think my lad has the beating of him. I hope he does as I think his best chance of winning a Gold Cup has passed him by.Finally I’d just like to add that I won’t be keeping a profit/loss record this time around. It just didn’t work for me last time as it just resulted in me trying to chase my losses. Hopefully this year will bring better fortunes. Away we go……….
March 24, 2014 at 17:13 #473085Nice one Boz and may I be the first to wish you all the very best mate, I’ve backed Holywell but never even saw 100s but took 66s with Stan, also on Taquin for Ryanair but have taken him win only for Gold Cup just in case!
Backing First Lt will be price dependant but I will be looking out for the following unlucky runners from Cheltenham:
Calipto
Arctic Fire
Off the Bridge
KatgaryMarch 24, 2014 at 19:08 #473099Good luck Boz. Looking frward to seeing how they price First Lieutenant and Dynaste. Real pity both First Lieutenant and Sir Des Champs missed the Gold Cup because they’d have surely gone close for Gigginstown. It would have been the first time Sir Des Champs got good ground since his novice days (bar the Durkan where he fell at the third). No point in crying about now though I suppose!

Hopefully we’ll see Un Atout back in top form next season
March 24, 2014 at 19:18 #473100Good luck Boz
March 24, 2014 at 19:40 #473111Not only is your King the legendary ruler of the Ante-Post kingdom, finest judge of horseflesh that has walked on water and Layer of layers extroadinaire,be it Women or horses.I am just as good at judging characters. This forum is full of them, the majority on here are quite modest unassuming sorts, the type of person who is content with their lot, they share a passion for horseracing with those of us who are never content,I’m the sort who has to push boundaries, constantly striving for better,I know I probably cant improve my unbelievably consistent brilliance at targeting horses for particular races but I feel proud to Inspire those who have that rare ability to stand up and be counted and have that little glint of talent,a talent that needs nurturing but that will come in time.Experience is everything in this world,no matter what .We all start at the bottom of the ladder and work our way to the top, sadly some get half way up and fall off, those with ability start the climb again, ultimately you Mr Bozlike has the whole package, you are a mini-me of me but the time is coming for you to do a TAPK and put one up that rocks……Clocks ticking, pressures on and your King is here should you need him!
Good Luck pal.March 24, 2014 at 22:07 #473144Thanks for the kind words fellas, here’s to a good year

Gord, you’ll make me blush

KatgaryI’m a big
Calipto
fan Gary. The snapped irons fiasco was a right stinker because he was going better than anything. It was part of a day that
First Lieutenant
pulled out, then that,
Briar Hill
fell and
Ned Buntline
finished second. It just wasn’t my week!
If Nicholls and co had any sense they’d skip Aintree and wait for the Greatwood. He’d walk that off 148. He won’t win a Champion Hurdle but he’s smart alright.
The reason you never saw 100/1 for
Holywell
mate is because it was never there
I had to do the rounds to squeeze a prize. SkyBet offered it me to a maximum bet of £25 so I filled my boots
March 24, 2014 at 22:50 #473151Taking 50s for this
Ruby Tuesday
, that was lazy of me
With my guile and silver tongue I should have at least shopped around for some 100/1!
March 25, 2014 at 08:32 #473158Oh and Tommy, I’ll have a guess at 15/8
Dynaste
v 7/2
First Lieutenant
March 25, 2014 at 22:13 #473243I see Mr Nicholls has thrown
Silviniaco Conti
into the mix for Aintree. I’m happy with that, just means a bigger price for my lad when things kick off. Betfair have opened a market but it’s hardly worth noting at this point. The only horse they’ve priced up that would give ‘the Lieutenant’ a run at Aintree for my money is
Benefficient
. He could be the horse for each-way money nearer the time having not shown at Cheltenham. I’m bullish though,
First Lieutenant
wins at Aintree for the second year in a row

Agreed Boz.
March 28, 2014 at 22:16 #473556Big day tomorrow for lovers of the level and a fair old spectacle and betting heat in itself. Not for me though, I’ll be keeping my powder dry for my boy on Thursday. Betfred have kicked things off with him at 7/2 but I’m holding fire for now. I can see
Silviniaco Conti
and
Dynaste
coming in for greater market support and some generous devils (please let it not be Paddy Power out of principle
) may push him out to 5s.For what it’s worth tomorrow I think
Educate’s
a fair each-way punt in the Duty Free and I’ve had a wee nibble at 33s. Of course I notice he’s 40/1 in places now
He’s running from a plum draw tomorrow and having shown improvement in his second start this term I can see him coming on again and running a big race at a price. That aside it’s full speed aheadFirst Lieutenant
Please God, if you’re up there, give us a dry week in Liverpool!March 29, 2014 at 21:44 #473664Darren you rapscallion I’m operating in new surroundings nowadays I am

I pretty much gave up the ghost on
Indian Maharaja
for Epsom a while back when it became pretty obvious that Aiden’s favourite new toy
Australia
was going to be ‘the one’. It’s a shame he’s being run over an inadequate trip tomorrow because I think he has what it takes to be a top class middle distance horse. He may well win tomorrow but if he’s campaigned like this he’ll just go like those before him.
The more interesting race of the day looks like the first. I can see their being a couple of fillies to follow from there, namely
She’s Mine
,
Meandering
and
Ruby Tuesday
. I’ve had a speculative punt on the latter for the Oaks at a big price and although I notice young Joey’s gone for the other one, I think she could be interesting going forward. It’s her first spin tomorrow so she’ll surely come on for it.
March 30, 2014 at 12:05 #473712Stan James a standout 4/1 for
First Lieutenant
currently. The money looks to be with
Dynaste
though.
FEE FI FO FUM, I smell the bookies going 5/1
March 30, 2014 at 13:20 #473716Eye catching run from
Ruby Tuesday
, very happy with her there. She’ll come on a bundle for that and she’ll probably scoot in at short odds in a maiden next time out. Better ground will surely help as well.
She’s Mine
will profit from better ground also and is the other to take from the race in my opinion.
April 1, 2014 at 11:30 #473866Just six left in the Bowl so understandably
First Lieutenant’s
price has slipped to 3/1. I’m not overly concerned though as I still believe the other two may prove more popular. The threat of rain looms as well which is something I’m getting fed up of when fella’s about to strut his stuff. Hopefully we can get to Thursday with some decent spring ground, then I’ll whack him
April 1, 2014 at 15:46 #473877Boz what you think happen to INDIAN MAHARAJA now i think he turn up at the meeting at Chester i do.
And you see PALACE making her debut tomorrow she is at Leopardstown along with JOHANN STRAUSS and KINGSBARNS returns too.
