Top weekend ahead mate, look forward to it. Got one eye on the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury but mainly homed in on the festival now
Not going this time around, been the last two but actually quite looking forward to being a sofa viewer with a mate and a few cans this time

That’s what I’ve done the last couple of years, delighted to be going this time around but I’ll probably miss some of the craic at home. I always have a fear that the week will pass me by – major pressure on to savour every moment!

That would be my only bit of advice mate, take it in because it doesn’t half fly!
February 18, 2015 at 17:30 #751350Take the top 2 out of the Supreme betting and the market has a very uneven look to it. There’s still room for a fly in the ointment, currently going under the radar. Paul’s already mooted Aintree for my lad Vago Collonges, but you watch what he says after Kempton Saturday

50/1 will be but an oh so distant memory……….
March 25, 2015 at 19:46 #867307Right, hello, bonjour. Had a beautiful Cheltenham. Most profitable and continued my yearly process of good un-bad un – next year’s going to rape me, it’s as much a cert as Faugheen!
Anywho…I’ve NEVER (and I mean never somehow!) backed the National winner (true story). I do know where I’ve been going wrong though….I’ve been backing losers

Three against the field, two major fancies and a minor each way…..
The two puppies…..Al Co and Mon Parrain, chances are that the winner lies there and I’ve nailed them both

The minor is Chance Du Roy. Don’t ignore him, I haven’t.
It’s game on now and I have mine……

Wicklow Brave, 2016 Champion Hurdle £25e/w@50/1 with Stan James.
MASSIVE price.

It was aimed at his Cheltenham chances Darren. I was kicking myself when I woke up and saw the rain on the Friday. He ran a good race though and gave me a run for my money. Who knows what would’ve happened if it stayed dry however.
For Aintree I wouldn’t be as keen, simply because the Gold Cup often takes it out of horses for the season. Given the manner of this year’s renewal and the conditions it was run in I’d be inclined to overlook those who partook at Cheltenham and go for a fresher alternative. Menorah’s been laid out for this and looks a plum each-way bet at 12/1, he’d be my choice.
For this year’s flat I’ve just started to dip my toe in again. A horse I’m looking forward to massively is Anthem Alexander. Sprint trips on bouncy summer ground will bring out the best in her and in my opinion she’ll progress past Tiggy Wiggy.
Another I’m looking forward to seeing is a half-sister to Moonlight Cloud, Stars And Clouds. She’s by Makfi so could be better built to see out the mile. Whether she’ll be ready for the Classics is another matter. She may be a bit backward, although 50/1 is tempting me for the Guineas for a small each-way tickle.
This stage for me is all about trying to eek out the value, slipping away from the obvious, so I’ve tended to overlook the Ballydoyle brigade. All the best for your season anyway Darren
April 1, 2015 at 10:41 #871473Got a couple of eggs in a couple of baskets for Aintree, but I’m all geared at one horse…..Mon Parrain.
If there’s a trainer to get a wayward horse back on the straight and narrow it’s Uncle Paulie. That attritional handicap chase he won off top weight was enough proof to me he’s heading back in the right direction, and everything he’s done since is just prep work.
We know he gets the fences, his Topham run a couple of years back shows us he was born to jump them. Being a half brother to Ma Filleule as well it must be in the blood.
I snaffled the last of Skybet’s 66s the other day, but 50/1 is still too big for this lad. With the country’s best young conditional on board we’re heading to bandit country
If he’s in the mix turning for home you’ll hear me screaming from Aintree
Now come on Seanie B, let’s get him home!
April 1, 2015 at 11:31 #871477Surprised you like Mon Parrain Boz, after that Topham run I could never see him winning over such a trip. He’s won over 3m+ since but 4.5m is a different kettle of fish. Do you think he’ll stay?
A horse I’m shocked to see is an intended runner is Ballycasey, looked a non stayer at 3m last season. He seems to have plenty of problems as well.
April 1, 2015 at 11:39 #871478I dont think stamina was an issue in the Topham Tommy. I think something happened to him that day that was the beginning of a long standing problem, one which has only just started to come around again. I think if you rewind to new year’s day where he won over the Gold Cup trip (I believe) off top weight on terrible ground you’d have to say he doesn’t lack for stamina.
I’ve always thought he’s a huge talent, one that, like I say, Nicholls has managed to turn around again after a wayward spell.
How about yourself Tommy, where does your money lie?
April 1, 2015 at 12:11 #871493Interesting thoughts Boz, you could well be right.

Don’t really have a fancy to be honest. I thought Spring Heeled ran a nice race on return but Culloty seems in a constant state of poor form. If I do have a bet, it will most likely be a small punt on him.
April 4, 2015 at 19:03 #873009Forget the AP factor, the Seanie B factor is in full flow for next Saturday after his three winners today. Flood of blue on Oddschecker and the last couple of firms standing 50s won’t be around much longer. The wheels are in motion, let’s start the plunge and grab us a National winner
