i will be back in two mins to tell you the winner.lol
February 8, 2016 at 13:14 #1232808just a quick browse so far,it looks to me three of the top six in market would probably need to get a penalty to get into the race.
Breden (95) is touch and go that he gets in.Last season he would have missed the cut(Gosden)
Keystroke(92) not a chance(Noseda)
Predominance (90) again as above(Haggas)Mitraad(99)(Haggas) is lightly raced, problem could be yet to race with any cut in the going.
One that caught my eye,at slightly bigger odds,is Donncha (97 right on borderline to get in) (R.Eddery) Improved last season and could run ok,all going well,i know this was the early plan for him to go to Town MoorFebruary 8, 2016 at 13:45 #1232809UDODODONTU has gone up eight for his win in Meydan recently,up to 102 now (according to meydan website) ,Richard Guest thought the world of him, before the sold to Godolphin.Lightly raced he must be on a short list, but at current odds,i would prefer to wait to see if this is his target.
February 8, 2016 at 22:47 #1232863N, I’ve not been the biggest fan of the reduction in field size for this, and think the race has lost a bit of it’s old sparkle the last few years…………….but it won’t stop me trying haha.
The bad news for you is that out of 129 entries, the one horse who jumped out at me was Udododontu. He cost me a very big lift when he was an agonisingly close second at Royal Ascot last year, I had him with a few others, it was a hard one to take. I had him at way over his SP, and determined to keep on the right side of him.
I won’t be going in early though, and will wait for the 5 day stage. Looked over them again, and the likes of Spark Plug looked interesting, but very early days for me.
February 9, 2016 at 06:26 #1232876VTC i usually wait as well till the five days stage(just with cheltenham approaching i had nothing else to do.lol).Spark Plug could well be of interest,as by the end of the season he seemed to be getting over that nasty fall at ascot.
February 10, 2016 at 11:53 #1232973Mutarakez (Brian Meehan) is interesting.
He went into the Britannia at Royal Ascot well fancied by connections after a promising start to the season. The horse is 3/5 in his career and has won at Doncaster and also won over a mile.
Only mid division at Royal Ascot, he didn’t run afterwards and that is the slight worry, but he is rated 101 and sure to get in if they wish to run him.
The trainer said this going into Royal Ascot about Mutarakez:-
Meehan said: “I really like him. On his return last month he easily landed Sandown’s Esher Cup which has been won by some very smart horses over the years. He showed a good turn of foot and a touch of class.
“The handicapper put him up 10lb, but that does allow us to go for the better handicaps now, including the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. He could be the ideal sort for that race. If we handle him properly he should develop into a Group horse.”
If the horse is going to be group class in time, it would seem sensible to exploit his 101 mark and he seems something of a forgotten horse at 20/1 in the market.
Predominance is the one I prefer of the Haggas pair at the head of the market, he is a year younger and looks more straight-forward to me than Mitraad. I can’t see how Predominance will get in off 90 though.
Udododontu is a horse I had an eye on last year and will be a player, while Breden was my ante-post Cambridgeshire pick at big odds but he didn’t run.
I thought I had a good bet last year with Mondialiste ante-post at 25/1 but there wasn’t a penny for him in the build up and he went off the same odds on the day, before all but winning it, chinned by a typical well handicapped Richard Fahey runner who didn’t win again all year. Meanwhile Mondialiste went on to win a group 3 and land a half million dollar pot overseas. C’est La Vie.
Mutarakez win only 20/1
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
February 10, 2016 at 12:08 #1232974cheers steve for your input,i remember when Mutarakez won at haydock,he still looked a big baby then, even though that was his third win on the spin.Any idea why he has been off since the Britannia?

Not sure why he’s been off but the ground was mighty fast at Ascot that day and perhaps that caused a problem. I have read that the horse goes well fresh and that they were considering him for a tilt at some races in Meydan.
The hope is that he’s staying in the UK in search of success, and didn’t skip the other option because he’s not ready to return to the track.
The stable also has Spark Plug but I believe that Mutarakez is potentially better handicapped and open to more improvement.
Looking back at Mutarakez in the Silver Bowl Handicap at Haydock, he comes from a rather unlikely position to mow down his field, despite drifting right across towards the leaders in the closing stages. I think it takes a smart horse to finish to that effect and he still looked some way from the finished article that day.

February 14, 2016 at 10:02 #1233588I see David O’Meara has got french import Lord Of The Land entered,he did the same with another Fabre ex mondaliste last season
February 15, 2016 at 12:23 #1233751Udododontu has two entries for thursday @ meydan
February 18, 2016 at 17:33 #1234185Udododontu has two entries for thursday @ meydan
He runs at 6.30 tonight and is 15/8 Fav.
I get the feeling he might stay plying his trade for bigger prizes in Meydan now and could potentially be targeted at better than handicap level in time.
He could be saver material for sure if he does turn up at Doncaster.
I have been looking at Lord Of The Land but I just had the feeling Mondialiste was more of a potential improver last season, whereas Lord Of The Land may be a good level but not necessarily as open to improvement for the change of trainer. Certainly interesting though.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
February 19, 2016 at 06:52 #1234286Lord Of The Land is really hard to get a handle on Steve(well for me anyway.lol) I can get a tentative line through Don Bosco/AMULET, at times,i am loath to take winnings distances in literally due to the way races are run in france(in general).
Any help(from posters) on the form lines about the O.Meara horse would be gratefully received.February 20, 2016 at 21:06 #1234598I looked at this race a couple of weeks ago and thought Carry on Deryck was the pick.I took the 25/1 thinking he’ll probably just turn up on the day,Udododontu was the 14/1 fav at the time.I notice my bloody horse won at Meydan only beating the fav in the process so thats my bet down the drain as Godolphin will keep him there for the Spring festival now.
February 21, 2016 at 08:30 #1234637TAPK,he did it really well thursday night.Going through the entries/fixtures,there does not seem a lot out there(meydan) for him.On world cup night, the only race on turf would be the Group One Dubai Turf, with the small problems he has had would they run him on dirt?(he wasn’t great on the lingfield polytrack)March 3rd there is a listed race on turf over ten furlongs, that could be one they might have a pop at,as they said he will be aimed at 8/10 furlong races.
So dont throw you’re ticket away just yet, fingers crossed for youMarch 20, 2016 at 15:03 #1239122i noticed Carry On Deryck not in the latest decs.
Lord Of The Land as low as 10s in some places now.Donncha 42nd in now.March 21, 2016 at 15:27 #1239235Having had a quick look my three initail picks are ……
