Obrien is protecting the stud fees … that’s what Coolmore care about , race wins are bonuses , it’s actual hilarious that a gelding knocked those fees to bits yesterday

I feel sorry for Hans Andersen and all the other pacemakers they have. These were really expensive well bred horses who could probably win group 2’s and 3’s and even group 1s in other countries if they were in different hands and run on their merits.

I also feel a bit sorry for Goliath who isnt really getting the appreciation he deserves because of tactics or watering or whatever. Whichever way you look at it he’s won a King George hard held by miles.

Fair point , but on the same hand there’s a smaller trainer watching Goliath win …a horse his stable star had pissed all over …life’s not fair

O’Brien and Co must think people in the breeding world are blind and stupid to think that trotting out these fanciful excuses…..sorry explanations can protect his stud value and cover up for multiple sub par performances AR has now thrown in now in almost half of his last 10 races.

If I were a breeder, I can’t say I would be in any hurry to use him as a stallion simply because in the back of my mind would be that it has never been a physical issue that was given as a reason for these bad performances, so is there an inherrent mental fragility within his make up that could be passed on to his progeny.

Obviously a risk you take but I’m sure he won’t be short of mares to cover. The whole breeding spiel from all the operations, not just coolmore, is utter nonsense. Anyway the horse either does or does not produce top horses. The fee set is on racing career then after a few years if the stallion doesn’t produce big race winners then sold to South Africa or the like. A rodin clearly is a very good horse. He showed that in the Derby and breeders Cup. Why he throws in these stinkers god knows.

Because he’s a very good horse , just not a superstar , the press and social media have to try and talk them up
