Kauto and Denman performed at that age , outwith AL boum photo it’s hardly looking like a vintage bunch , we,llneed to see
December 26, 2020 at 20:42 #1515300Lostintranslation bled apparently. I wonder if he had a respiratory infection in the Betfair- his run there was too bad to just be the ground- that he is not yet over. If that is the case I think he needs to be tucked up with a lecky blanket and a cup of hot lemon till the bowl at Aintree and forget the gold cup. (What’s the betting Tizz runs him in the Cotswold?)
December 26, 2020 at 21:02 #1515302GG if he they think he,s fit he,ll go to the GC
December 27, 2020 at 11:15 #1515346I haven’t posted in a long time but something really interested me yesterday. The ratings of the horses running in the King George as compared with the ratings of the horses running in the Savills tomorrow in Leopardstown. In my view they are all over the place, and its no wonder that irish horses can come over to the uk and win more than a fair share of handicaps. When you look at the ratings awarded to the top horses, this surely has an impact on the ratings given to horses in the 140-160 bracket also.
King George:
Cyrname 176
Santini 172
Clan Des Obeaux 171
Lost in Translation 171
Frodon 168
Saint Calvados 167
Waiting Patiently 163
Real Steel 163Savills:
Delta Work 170
Presenting Percy 169
Kemboy 168
A Plus Tard 167
Minella Indo 165
Allaho 160
Easy Game 160
Fakir D’Oudairies 160
Samcro 160
Tornado Flyer 160
Melon 159I think any fair minded supporter could recognise that the savills is a far better race on paper than the king george yet the king george horses are rated significantly higher
How on earth is Cyrname a 16 pound better horse than Samcro? Or 11 pounds better than Minella Indo?
Anyway here are my ratings of yesterday’s race:
Frodon 173
Waiting Patiently 171
Clan Des Obeaux 165
Saint Calvados 165
Santini 164
Black Op 156December 27, 2020 at 11:19 #1515348Ive said before that cyrname mark was wrong , I understand the argument but all bar minella Indo are exposed enough and I still say last year’s RSA was a mess , i said yesterday and still think the same after sleeping on it , AL boum photo is a strong and worthy favourite
December 27, 2020 at 11:29 #1515349I think Al Boum Photo must have an outstanding chance of becoming a triple gold cup winner. 5/1 looks generous at this stage though of course plenty can change between now and March. Could go off a very short priced favourite on the day if he stays sound.
December 27, 2020 at 11:43 #1515353Is Lostintranslation really 171?!
I’m expecting a big run from Champ tomorrow . He’s probably been over there for some time, if he ever returned from the Summer break
ABP, Champ or an aggressively ridden Minella Indo for me in the Gold Cup
December 27, 2020 at 11:48 #1515355He is off that betfair win , the prob is he now looks fragile , sim happened last year and he came back to run a cracker in the GC , tomorrow is champs d day , will or he can he jump with he seasoned chasers , personally I don’t think he can and I have him as a lay
December 27, 2020 at 12:04 #1515360Is Champ entered somewhere tomorrow, or are we (quite resonably…) poking fun at Hendo here?!
Well done to Frodon, Briony, Nicholls and backers. Frodon is probably my second most profitable horse of all time so a bit annoyed with myself for not having faith and letting him go un-backed. Really enjoable to watch however, and nice to see a good run from Waiting Patiently too, who I think has been somewhat under-rated as a result of coming from an unfashionable Northern stable.
December 27, 2020 at 12:06 #1515361Might be that MarkTT isn’t aware that Champ was taken out of the Savills Chase. Or just forgot.
December 27, 2020 at 12:07 #1515362According to the racing post entries he is 11/4 for the Savills in Oreland tomorrow though he isn’t actually on the race card.
December 27, 2020 at 12:51 #1515372wexfordman I can see the logic for the horses in the 170s before yesterday’s race.
Cyrname 176 – got that for beating Altior
Santini 172 – close 2nd in Gold Cup
LIT 171 – 3rd in Gold Cup
Clan Des Obeaux 171 – winning 2 King Georges, including beating the 176 horse.
Delta Work 170 – beating irish horses at the irish festivalsI think it has to do with who they are beating as well. Delta Work (170) has been largely beating the same horses in Ireland at the Festivals but only managed 5th in the Gold Cup. Al Boum Photo (175) on the other hand came over and beat the English horses to win Gold Cups. Were Minella Indo to win tomorrow he will move up for beating horses that he is so far unproven against and rated higher than him.
December 27, 2020 at 12:58 #1515373Mike do you think he,ll win ? , tomorrow will tell us a bit about last year’s RSA
December 27, 2020 at 13:00 #1515375If Lostintranslation met Samcro in a match giving giving him 11lb he would be a big outsider. There does seem to be some disparity between the Irish and English ratings.
BUY THE SUN
December 27, 2020 at 13:06 #1515378There is , a disparity a ceriain Mr Elliot loves to exploit in hcaps every March
December 27, 2020 at 13:22 #1515384If Samcro isnt consistently running against higher rated horses to increase his own rating not a lot they can do.
December 27, 2020 at 13:23 #1515385HDLG my Savills opinion is in the Savills Chase thread.
