Haha Grand National. I dont think so
December 26, 2020 at 15:33 #1515245Still not sure why Frodon leaves me so cold. That was an excellent opportunist win.
On one hand, he’s the epitome of what you want from a chaser – jumps and travels better than anything and totally genuine. On the other, you always come away thinking he wouldn’t have won if this had happened, the other jockeys should have done something to stop him, etc etc
I think Santini was given the best ride of the opposition but wasn’t quick enough and was outjumped by Frodon a few times, couldn’t hassle and press on as his rider intended.
This feels like fairly irrelevant form going forward. The remains of Waiting Patiently arguably an unlucky loser, Cyrname becoming very hot and cold, Clan Des Obeaux probably exposed for what he is, Lostintranslation dismal again.
December 26, 2020 at 15:40 #1515248Some jockeys in for a few stern words I would imagine. Ruth Jefferson seemed furious.
She did didn’t she? The horse is fragile and goes well fresh; she had it fit and picked the right race and it was her big chance. She’s got about half the number of horses she had a few years ago- Hemmings only let her finish the season when her dad died before he took his horses away and some other decent ones left too. She has no other really good ones. This was her chance to get in the spotlight and potentially attract a new owner or two but nobody cares if you come second.

OTOH, great for Bryony and I hope she gets some more good horses to ride now.
December 26, 2020 at 15:45 #1515250Mike you are right about Native River. But Frodon’s jumping is so good that it gives him a great advantage at a course that puts such a premium in jumping. That’s why his record at Cheltenham is so good.
Holla, I have said on this forum before that I love horses that jump for fun, gallop from the front and refuse to be passed. Frodon leaves me anything but cold.
December 26, 2020 at 15:47 #1515251Aye to quote the fella off the NFL show she looked like my wife when I bought her a hoover for her birthday. Seething.
BUY THE SUN
December 26, 2020 at 15:54 #1515252After that if was good to soft or worse I’d give Native a chance in the GC , nowt in that day to frighten him , Nichols said frodon spat the dummy at aintree …he sulked because native went to the front and dominated him , as I’ve said AL boum looks stronger now , I’m sure Mullins enjoyed watching it
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 26, 2020 at 16:01 #1515254Feel gutted for Ruth Jefferson…she got her horse there in tip top shape and in my eyes was let down by the jock…great ride from Bryony though an excellent round of jumping which won the day..
I’ve seen loads of people around social media question after how he was 20/1 but the fact is so many times before he’s fallen short at the top level winning only once out of 8 attempts at grade 1 level and though there were question marks over many of the field it still looked a strong race beforehand…
Thought Saint Calvados ran a cracker too and looked a blatant non stayer…looks a big Ryanair player after that though…
December 26, 2020 at 16:02 #1515255Native River is too old to win a GC. Has had his day in the sun.
December 26, 2020 at 16:05 #1515257I would imagine Brian Hughes will be annoyed with himself as I know he sets himself very high standards. However, he did get into the right position on home turn, but Waiting Patiently just got caught for a bit of toe going to three out. Ultimately though he had a group of top class stayers in his wake.
December 26, 2020 at 16:07 #1515258He,s not done yet , and at or near he,s best he,s a damn sight better than santini …..I see the bookies are now going 12-1 for santini …..they can see what he is and will happily take your money , still 5-1 for AL boum , I’d say that value
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 26, 2020 at 16:17 #1515259Apart from the winner, the rest look unlikely to stay three miles. Waiting Patiently was not unlucky, it’s just the way things pan out for him.
Tizzard stable ZERO form, Nicholls stable struggling a bit, no matter if they had the winner or not, Hendo stable also a HUGE ZERO in form…..
December 26, 2020 at 16:22 #1515262HDLG how can you be confident on Al Boum Photo if you are so against Santini, they virtually finished together.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
December 26, 2020 at 16:25 #1515264AL boum looks stronger now , I’m sure Mullins enjoyed watching it
They haven’t run the Savill’s yet
December 26, 2020 at 16:47 #1515272Because Nathan they aren’t one dimensional , Nathan why has he gone out in price ? , he’s to slow ….you can’t make him faster , AL boum stays , jumps and has the tactical speed , Jesus Nico admitted today santini has no gears , they changed tatics tried to go from the front ….he couldn’t get in front of frodon and when the race started proper he got tapped ….. As I’ve mentioned his 1 decent win the cotswald he outstayed an out and out stayer , anything with speed will pick him off ….as has happened again today
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 26, 2020 at 16:47 #1515273I see the bookies are now going 12-1 for santini …..they can see what he is and will happily take your money
And I’ll take their money all day each way.
December 26, 2020 at 16:52 #1515274Glad after that today I wouldn’t be so confident …..why are they giving you 12-1 ?
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 26, 2020 at 17:21 #1515283at or near he,s best he,s a damn sight better than santini
I would tend to agree HDLG but he never will be at or near his best again. He will be 11 in March.
