Yes you are right SEVENTY FOUR. My point was against the people who state he wasn’t in a state to race.
April 3, 2008 at 21:44 #155651Look forward to Coral being significantly top price about Kuato for the King George next season and to taking them on!
I thought it was just us punters who overreacted to recent form….April 3, 2008 at 21:46 #155652Yes you are right SEVENTY FOUR. My point was against the people who state he wasn’t in a state to race.
Point taken Anzum – and I think you are absolutely correct.
April 3, 2008 at 21:49 #155653I will be in the same queue as carvillshill.
April 3, 2008 at 22:00 #155659I hope so too but the writing on the wall was his defeat to Monets Garden on his reappearance (giving stone granted).
This was a horse that won a tingle creak not so long ago, travelling like horse with so much enthusiasm so to be shoved along after a mile was strange. After the race PN called him ‘a real three miler now’….
The horse has CLEARLY lost its speed and now the jumping has gone to pot – the usual signs of a fall out with the game, and now the inevitable excuses and denial.
KS is, luckily for his owner, falling from a great height which means he’ll probably pick up a good race on the way down but as i’ve said before on here, i fear his rate of regression will catch most by surprise.
It’s agreat world and we are all entitled to our opinions but your statement about the writing being on the wall is totally off the wall.
I think you must have been out the country ariound Xmas when kauto put up his best performance of his life…….In fact the best performace seen at Kempton for more years than I care to remember.
I don’t know how Kauto Star will react to these last couple of races and he may or he may not recover. At a guess I would say he’s one tough cookie he’s still a very young horse and he will be back guns blazing.
Maybe none of you knockers has heard of Inglis Drever…….he got humped backwards here went home came back won the world hurdle………Istabraq got beat here came back one the Champion Hurdle.
Aintree has a habit of turning form upside down and it caught Kauto out big deal!!!
Basically one word covers what I think when knockers jump to conclusions and say the horse is finished. Unfortunately I don’t know how to spell BS but I am sure people can guess

The leap or whatever you would call that at the second last seemed to stop him in his tracks……he was running away going into the fence but within 3 strides after it he’s gone. His back legs came so high underneath him he looked like he made contact to me……not saying he did, I’m saying it looked like.
If he did strike into himlself it could explain why he slowed so dramatically………I’ll wait until news filters through on that one as he was beat end of story…..why is another story and to say he’s not as good as he was with all that went on is premature…. I hope PN lat least learned a lesson from this. Ruby Walsh is one of the best judges of pace riding today and I doubt if there is a better tactician riding anywhere……PN a fair jockey in his time told a brilliant jockey you should do this………mans had a rush of blood to the head as far as I’m concerned and to add insult to injury he’s ran a horse who should have gone on holiday by now.
April 3, 2008 at 22:35 #155670Running a 6-y-o in the National is a far greater folly than running a battle-hardened champion in a race he started odds-on for.
April 3, 2008 at 22:46 #155671Great post FOF.
April 3, 2008 at 23:13 #155673Lets not be too quick to get on the "Bash PN Bandwagon", after all he has won over £3million in prize money this season and clearly gets it right more often than not with the tactics.
We all make mistakes every now and again don’t we?!,,,,,,,
April 4, 2008 at 09:22 #155729Look forward to Coral being significantly top price about Kuato for the King George next season and to taking them on!
I thought it was just us punters who overreacted to recent form….I cant seem to find the King George odds, could anyone point me in the right direction.cheers.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 4, 2008 at 09:57 #155744He looked a shadow of himself at Aintree in the Old Roan when many wrote him off was better but not his best at Haydock before looking better than ever at Kempton, add to that Our Vic’s resurgence and Kempton looks an even better effort now. I think he’ll be back next season and will probably win the King George again. There is no shame in losing, this day and age racing is getting like boxing where unbeaten records are the only test of a horses ability.
April 4, 2008 at 10:17 #155752If Master Minded wins well today ( and he should barring a fall), I wouldn’t be surprised to see him aimed at this year’s King George.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
April 4, 2008 at 11:06 #155767No he didin’t – Walsh totally robbed the horse of his winning chance.
wondered how long it would take you to criticize Ruby – not long
April 4, 2008 at 11:16 #155771Ive worked it out….
No horse must run more or less than 4 times a season
Best Mates three appearances was "cowardly" and Kauto’s five is "greedy"
Simple isnt it?
April 4, 2008 at 13:19 #155794i now agree that denman’s rating after cheltenham is too high, bearing in mind kauto is obviously over-rated too
April 4, 2008 at 21:31 #155940so is everyone finished slatting kauto and ruby ????

i bet most of you were calling him the next arkle after the gold cup 2007 and king george 2007!
people want champions when they get them they cant wait to stick the knife in!
April 5, 2008 at 09:56 #156089i now agree that denman’s rating after cheltenham is too high, bearing in mind kauto is obviously over-rated too
ratings are based on your best performance and most horses don’t run to the same level every time. The same is true of Master Minded, just because he flopped yesterday doesn’t detract from his Cheltenham run.
April 6, 2008 at 23:19 #156577As I’ve said many times, I’m a big Kauto fan and I’ve got no problem with running him at Aintree but what happened to the horse that won a Betfair Chase by 18L on the bit and then cantered clear of Voy Por Ustedes in a Tingle Creek just a few weeks later?
He’s still very good and as long as he stays sound he’ll win plenty more races/loads of prize money but for whatever reason, I have a feeling that he just isn’t the same horse. How has he gone from winning two Tingle Creek’s to coming off the bridle in the middle of 2m4f – 3m contests in the space of a year? Is it temprament?
I thought the Aintree race was very similar to the Betfair Chase at Haydock and Exotic Dancer would have caught him there in exactly the same fashion if that was over a furlong further like the Totesport Bowl.
Despite losing the GC, I’m happy with his season overall – 3 wins (all Grade 1’s) & 3 seconds) and I’m relieved that he’s made it through all the battles but I can’t say I’m too confident about the future…
