Did I suggest that? Its just you have come on and listed facts and ratings to suggest this will be a walk in the park for KS on Saturday but when it boils down to it, its really just an opinion rather than ratings or stones. Because if you look at the ratings and the opinion of those closer to him (and indeed the fact that he was winning in France over further than 2 miles as a 4 year old) he appears to be a much better horse over further.
I suspect he will win on Saturday due to fitness and the test of stamina the likely soft ground will bring. But at two miles on good ground I would have VPU…but thats unlikely to ever happen as Paul N himself said KS wouldnt be turning up at Sandown if the ground was good.
November 29, 2006 at 17:00 #31495look, kauto star is running on saturday, that does not mean they are trying to make a 2 miler out of him. his trainer has seen an oppertunity and is taking it. he probably is good enough over 2 miles to win on soft ground over 2 miles, but 3 miles looks like it will be his niche.
November 29, 2006 at 17:31 #31496John, i respect your opinion but objectively you’d have to say Mr Nicholls may know a thing or two, not just about the two horses I mentioned but horses in general. Possibly a bit more than you? I also didn;t say that he was necessarily a better horse over 2m, just that he is a better horse..
On another point, why do you think Az was a better jumper? Because he fell less? I remember him smashing through a fence and ruining his chance in the CC? Ok KS fell but is there any difference? He has a tendency to hit fences but so did MF..

November 29, 2006 at 17:56 #31498Aragon,
I know the incident you are talking about, he left his hind legs in the water early on the CC. He was not right that day, you could see that after the first furlong, was never travelling….
No, Az was a better jumper as he was more economical over his fences, he popped them quite fluently at speed. From what I have seen from Kauto when jumping at pace, I don’t think he has that, he is a bit muddled over them.
In relation to who the better horse is/was, my response was to other forumites who were saying that KS is the best chaser seen in the last 20 years. I countered with 3 horses I deem to be better based on what they have achieved in their chasing career, Az was one of them.
Of course Nicholls is the man, but I need to see to believe!

Glad your enjoying it AP.
November 29, 2006 at 20:28 #31500Ashley Brook and Foreman are massive prices on betfair…must be non runners.
November 29, 2006 at 22:22 #31501Please can all the Kauto Star doubters not forget to Lay him on Saturday. As he’s only 1.68 to back on Betfair at the moment and it’s a bit low for me. Thanks!

November 30, 2006 at 10:07 #31503are the final decs for the tingle creek today?<br>looks like there will only be a handfull of runners, and it wouldnt suprise me if hoo la baloo runs as a pace maker for kauto star.

Dempsey, Central House, Fota Island, Hoo La Baloo, Kauto Star, Oneway & Voy Por Ustedes.
November 30, 2006 at 12:33 #31505Kauto star obviously has stamina, so to beat him in a small field they may go slowly and sprint the last 3 furlongs. however with central house in the race i dont think there will be any hanging around. but if there wasnt any pace, i bet hoo la baloo would make it a true test.

Central house…..has run some stinkers across the water. Seems to really hate travelling much worse then BOS.

November 30, 2006 at 14:27 #31507All the rival jockeys will know having read this thread, that they have to go a good clip to make sure Kauto Star’s jumping folds! I don’t buy the jumping problems – sometimes your gut just tells you something. And my gut tells me that his improvement this year is based on the step up in trip – something that his trainer and jockey have both alluded to.
Whatever wins, I think it’s a pretty good contest, made all the more interesting by KS’ appearance. Whilst I hope KS wins for the good of the sport, for my own financial benefit I hope VPU can confirm his initial promise.
November 30, 2006 at 16:30 #31508What I want to know is why does Rimmell persist with running oneway at this level? He seems to have a much higher opinion of this horse than is deserved.. Surely he could find him easier tasks than being regularly stuffed in grade ones.. He’s definitely not grade one class.
November 30, 2006 at 16:33 #31509Wasn’t Oneway third in this last year?
November 30, 2006 at 16:44 #31510with regard to central house, i think his poor performances in england have been due to good or faster ground. he seems a much better horse on soft. he will get these conditions on saturday, but even at his best is running for place money surely
