Hi, I suspected that it might be a crappy day, you get that feeling sometimes dontcha, but we came out of it pretty well considering…… OK then, as it turned out Flight of Esteem (5/4) was never a bet for us because of its failure to reach 2/1. The same goes for My Last Bean where the betting went 7/4.. 15/8.. 7/4.. 13/8… at no time did I see the magical 2/1…. so on Kers Paper version we had a NO BET and the Online version produced 2 losers and a winner @ 10/3, so were still bobbing along……..
JANUARY…. PAPER ONLINE

January 11, 2003 at 18:51 #43776This is going from strength to strength MrE, the OnLine version seems to be working better than the paper one. Maybe this is going to work even better on the AW than Turf?
Keep it up
:buddy:
January 11, 2003 at 19:58 #43777Hi Dave, the difference between selections made from the two mediums, thats the one thing that I aint sure about yet. We need a lot more time to confirm that and I think the Paper version has a lot going for it if you cut the rubbish out. I’m not trying to infer that your selections are rubbish Kers, far from it mate, I think that this has the makings. Its just a couple of niggles that I’ve got, and using the RP Forecast is too inaccurate to be more than a rough guide. Using Kers version and pushing it through my own criteria, will enhance the system (I hope) and if Kers was to go back over his results and kick out all the selections that never actually reached 2/1, I dont think he’d stop smiling till tomorrow…. anyhow, lets hope that racing soon gets back to normal cos, like yourself, I aint sure if this is just a phenomena due to the bad weather. I hope not, but you can never tell……. I must thank you Dave and some other contributers, for helping this along, I’m sure Kers is chuffed to pieces……

January 14, 2003 at 11:54 #43779Hi Guys, very busy so will update results later. It’s late now, so I would assume that Kersly aint got anything. January 15, 2003 at 12:36 #43781Hi all. Kers has 3 today but I can only bet one of ’em. Gospel Song looks tempting but I can’t risk a bet on that one cos he aint been out for 7 months. So from the Paper Copy I’ll go for……
12.35 Ling.. Alchemist Master.. LOST****
**** see Kersly’s posting on his 2003 thread, this should not have been a bet and because I’m trying to improve his system, it would be wrong to include a non system horse in this list….. so its a NO BET for the Paper Version……..
and for the Online version I can only find one today…..
3.20 Newc.. Sireric… LOST

January 16, 2003 at 11:24 #43783Hi guys, this is the last time that I’m sticking the Online Version up here, the whole layout bears no resemblance to what Kers is selecting. It makes no sense to me, I spend a couple of hours going through the cards and it becomes a total contradiction. I must be getting bloody old cos I’m just getting more and more confused….. … one of the rules state that …. if a horse qualifies on four it can have a rating of 3 in PM or TS and a "best" rating in the other, I’m OK so far, but the very next line says it must not be bettered by any other rating. Well if its not got any horse with a higher rating, its gonna score more than 4…. hehehe…. confusing ennit…… no, I’ll leave it to Kers and just slip his selections through my own criteria……

January 17, 2003 at 10:58 #43787Hi Mr E,
I can see the confusion caused,It would clarify matters if selections noted originally ignored the Postdata selection and worked on the 6 positives available in the ratings
Topspeed"latest" "best" and "adjusted" the same with Postmark. The two to concentrate on are the"latest"and"adjusted" ratings,Quite simply if a horse is top rated in both "latest" and "adjusted"in both Topspeed and Postmark it is a selection.
For future reference perhaps note also if it had the highest"best"rating. Also record if it was the Postdata selection purely to see if in the long term it has any effect.
Many times one of the ratings is missing from TS or PM particularly "adjusted" TS I tried to work this into the selection procedure but it can become confusing. The idea was to try and spot the unexposed animals with superior ratings. For example a horse that has in TS no "latest" or"adjusted" rating only a"best" that is superior to any other type of rating, this coupled with being top rated in the 3 sections of PM could still mean it may have an advantage over its rivals.
Example
Topspeed .."latest"-"best"87 top-"adjusted-
Postmark…."latest"Top rated"best"top"adjusted"-top.
I think I better leave it there.Todays possible selection (Seixo Branco)is reasonably easy to spot it has everything in its favour(7 positives) and is I’m told very strongly fancied by Elite.
Good Luck-kersly:biggrin:
January 17, 2003 at 11:36 #43792OK, thanks for that Kers, I’ll keep a check on it all anyway. What I had my arse in a sling for was the complete difference in the two formats of the same paper, that really is beyond my understanding. There is no apparent agreement between the two, and yet they are supposed to be the same ratings. I selected 5 horses yesterday, you picked 4 and we only agreed on one, even worse than that, we ended up selecting two DIFFERENT GG’s in the SAME race, now there has to be something not quite right there. I think your system has potential, and I dont see the sense in undermining it by selecting different horses, thats just not on. I’m trying to help you iron out the wrinkles of your system if I can, I feel that using the Online Version, I am weakening yours and casting doubt on its validity cos if the RP cant bloody agree on the basis of the system, where do we go from here…… no Kers, I’m convinced that you’ve got it nearly right and I think, perhaps, that the RP is way behind in updating the Online Ratings, it either that or they’re using a different format from the paper copy….. stick to yours Kers, I’ll follow you in….. hehehehe……

January 17, 2003 at 12:04 #43796Hi again, we are no longer using the Online Version (see previous posts), so it now becomes just Kersly’s selections pushed through my own filters. Now lets see if I can be a clever dicky with this copy ‘n paste thingy….
I would have only bet 3 yesterday as suggested, Bhutan wasn’t an option, but Saint Romble WAS a bet because, although it finished at 6/4, the price of 2/1 was available…….
JANUARY….

January 18, 2003 at 13:20 #43801Oh dear, someones gonna get a black eye today, it’ll probably be me…. hehehe….. Kers has selected 5 GG’s today (greedy git) but after my own filters have been put in, I can only agree with 2 of ’em……..
4.05 Kemp.. Chauvanist.. LOST
9.00 Wolv.. Carol’s Choice.. LOST
Carols Choice was never a bet today, highest price on offer was 13/8, so its just the one loser for K2…..

January 24, 2003 at 11:17 #43807Hi guys, Kersly’s system selects Master Trix today and it also slips nicely through the K2 filters, so I agree that the bet today is…..
