    :? :? :? :? :?

I do hope that the lyrical waxed about Poetic Power on this thread wasn’t taken out of context by the handicapper

It wouldn’t be standard practice for a horse from Ian Williams’ yard to be handicapped on its potential since he could very feasibly be better than 100 if he learns to settle. I don’t think his flat rating would be taken into account so I can only imagine it’s purely on the basis of his Bangor run. Tidal Way has recently justified his rating of 120, Halogen was rated 125 in that race and Rapid Heat Lad is probably worth a mark of around 110. It certainly wouldn’t be off the back of his runs at Huntingdon, Warwick or Ludlow. I think on his pedigree, he’ll be capable of performing over two and a half so let’s hope he can find a few pounds there.

Tomorrow’s race at Newbury looks like a very nice little contest with winning hurdles form, decent flat form, high sales prices, good pedigrees and top stables all represented. If there’s a convincing winner here, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a sharp ruffle in the Triumph market.

There’s a newcomer at Naas in the 2.45 novice hurdle. She’s more likely to be lapped than win but here’s her detail anyway…

    Title Music 5/3

    John Magical

    1st Novices’ Hurdle, Leopardstown 1999

Also 5/3 to high class chaser Get Real.

Nicky Henderson has a very interesting new recruit in Rolling Star who won his only hurdles start at Auteuil in October. There’s not much to quantify that form on nor am I finding much on his pedigree but he’s found his way near the head of the Triumph market so one would imagine he could well be Henderson’s main juvenile this term.

A very tidy looking contest to open today’s Gowran Park card headed by two impressive last-time-out winners. Dogora would have the more scope at this stage although Dalasiri jumped terrifically in the main during his well backed success at Cork. Hartside was a fortunate winner at Punchestown when capitalizing on Fatcatinthehat’s final fence fall but he is still a decent enough benchmark to set the two principals against.

    Brindisi Breeze

    1st Spa Novices’ Hurdle (G1), Cheltenham 2012*

Credit to Musselburgh for today’s card which has become firmly established over the past few years. The north has nine representatives amongst the Triumph hurdle entries and the leading three all come from the John Quinn yard. Today will see Kashmir Peak attempt to confirm his credentials as Yorkshires biggest hope of keeping the Triumph crown. Not that Kashmir Peak himself would self apply the identity of an adopted Yorkshireman, or Northerner or expat Irishman… As a matter of fact, whilst horses do have pack instincts, I doubt very much that our human constructs of flags or civic pride hold any bearing on their sense of existence. Perhaps they all see themselves as culturally displaced Asiatics that have assimilated into Western society for financial reasons? Southerner/Frenchman/Ottoman Sametegal reopposes Kashmir Peak following their Doncaster encounter and provides the sternest challenge. The home contingent is comprised of Lone Foot Laddie, Titus Bolt and Wayne Manor who may or may not be hoping to send the other four homewards tae think again or something.

    Wayne Manor 3/1

    Sohrab

    4th Stayers’s Hurdle (G1), Cheltenham 1997
    Kashmir Peak 4/1

    Beldale Star

2nd New Year’s Day Hurdle (Listed), Windsor 1990
    Docs Legacy 2/1

    Lightning Strike

    6th Baring Bingham Hurdle (G1), Cheltenham 2008
    Titus Bolt 1/1

    Little Green

    2nd 4yo hurdle, Limerick 2011
    Tidal Way 1/1

    Indian Groom

    5th Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle (134, G3), Cheltenham 2009
    Sametegal 3/2

    Moussu Lescribaa

    1st Prix Stanley (3yo, Listed), Auteuil 2004

Two Triumph entries in Bordoni and newcomer Somemothersdohavem. Neither would stand a great chance of even making it into that race though. ‘Veteran’ Snowed In makes his 12th attempt to get off the mark over hurdles.

    Thank you Tuffers.

Today’s race deserves a bump of this thread more than any other as there really couldn’t have been a stronger field assembled in Ireland. Willie Mullins sends out his finest juveniles to meet Dessie Hughes’ Our Conor whom has been flawless thus far. Flaxen Flare leads Gordon Elliot’s juveniles whilst Dalasiri is related to a previous winner of this race. Ruacana brings (fortunate) G1 winning form whilst the original summer brigade is represented by King’s Wharf.

    Dalasiri 3/2
