Good shout landafar, but also Booby who mentioned Big Mojo at 50s EW and ham who was keen on him as well.

Well done , seriously who was the last dominant group 1 sprinter , just now you could run these 10 times and have 10 different winners

Well that looked more like a big field sprint handicap than one of Europe’s top G1 sprints – first 8 covered by about 3L and 12 of the total runners covered by about 6L.

This division badly needs a star to emerge – if I was a owner of a handicap sprinter that is a bit high in the weights then I would be looking to enter them in the Nunthorpe if this is the calibre of sprinters around.

Well done Landafar for keeping the faith.
I actually backed the winner No Half Measures myself… In the Jubilee (or was it the King Charles?). It would’ve been my biggest ever priced winner there @ two hundred and something to one! But I was taking a chance on whether she’d act on the ground. Has a bit of a rounded action and form looked a bit better on softer… And that seemed to be confirmed by connections taking him out of the race when it turned firm – officially because of a self certificate… So didn’t back No Half Measures today.

Great stuff landafar, was counting my money thr last 1/2 furlong but not to be!

If only i coulda bet notable speech to finish 5th exactly?

Exposed Sprinters rated 105 winning group 1 is tragic though as much as i enjoyed the race

    Like to see the sectionals.
Looks as though those anywhere near prominent went too fast.
Strangely – given the earlier races – the first three home came from three of the four widest (far side) runners.

Thanks folks :yahoo:, Shes a horse Ive followed a bit. But I never expected a win in this, a place was my aim so the E/W was a nice treat plus the small bits on the exchanges win only.
Probably as most of you are saying, typical sprint race where any of them could win it, if it was run 10 times, 10 different winners.
No stand out sprinter this year, no doubt the Nunthorpe will be interesting, could be a 2 year old winner.

    Ginge – Sectionals https://www.racingtv.com/results/2025-07-12/newmarket/1635

Fair play to the winner as he clocked the fastest 2nd furlong sectional of 10.46 – but it does show that the front runners Night Raider (stands side), Ides of March (middle) and Spy Chief (far side) all went too fast and dragged those that sat handy along with them – Big Mojo (2nd) in particular and Notable Speech (5th) should be marked up considering they both ran the first 3F faster than par.

Only four horses got over a 96% finishing speed and none got to 100%, with Jasour (97.35%) and No Half Measures (96.81%) getting the closest, so clearly the whole field didn’t expend their respective energies in the most efficient/economical way.

    Belated congrats to you Landfar.

Well done Landafar she certainly saw off some top opposition today :yahoo: Nice to see Richard Hughes winning his first July Cup. :good:

Sorry being late to the party but just got home from a sizzling Newmarket. The horses coped much better than the humans IMO.

Well done to all who backed Big Mojo EW and for EW backers of Believing Paddy Power paid out on 4th place. :good: Jac

The Aussies have already given up on holding onto The Everest in October as Ka Ying Rising will destroy anything in OZ , he would make that lot today look like trees .
As for Notable Speech he is going to struggle to find a group 1 this year in Europe , he’s solid but will need to travel , Woodbine Mile maybe , normally flimsy and Appleby cleans up when he goes to Woodbine .

The City of York Stakes (upgraded to G1 status this year) and the Foret both over 7F would seem obvious targets for Notable Speech – to be honest he travelled really well during the race (wasn’t taken off his feet early like some thought he might) but in retrospect sitting too close to that fast pace cost him at the point of the race where his superior stamina should have kicked in.

If they wanted to try again at 6F there is obviously the Sprint Cup at Haydock in September but also there is the Prix Maurice de Gheest over 6½F in August at Deauville, so he does have plenty of options at multiple distances.
