Good call by whoever said Chester is much better off without interviews with gormless z list stars from Coronation st
Reminds me of an actress I knew rather well…… She only got one tv role. A body on a stretcher in Casualty..,true story
But I miss the Thommo Donny owner interviews the most. they were wonderful
Red nosed car dealer marinated in scotch with his fat smelly wife who’s gushing with the excitement of meeting thommo and prospect of sitting on his face whilst hubby does a bit of DIY
The chemistry was overwhelming but thankfully C4 didn’t show the finale
May 6, 2021 at 20:36 #1539879Clive, my friend, you always manage to make me smile with your warped visions!!!
May 6, 2021 at 20:44 #1539880Believe me it’s not a palatable vision and if you wish to avoid I would be careful when you watch xhamster (allegedly)
May 7, 2021 at 11:14 #1539903Cumani plunged to new depths of amateurism yesterday with a detailed description of a non-runner in the paddock. She seems increasingly unable to read her script or the racecard. I have occasionally seen her wearing glasses. Perhaps she should wear them all the time so she can do her job.
May 8, 2021 at 15:09 #1540102Great to see them use Ken Pitterson today for some paddock comment ahead of the Derby Trial at Lingfield.
Jason Weaver’s insights continue to be top drawer. Knows his stuff.
May 8, 2021 at 17:09 #1540123Ken Pitterson’s comments were probably preferable to Rishi Persad’s at Ascot who pointed out how light Louganini looked in the paddock, to which Ed Chamberlin said “A great bit of paddock observation from Rishi there”.
Surely no one took any notice and the horse proceeded to bolt up. Not a word from them after the race though. Rishi’s not known as “The Omaha Kid” for nothingMay 8, 2021 at 17:59 #1540127“Jason Weaver’s insights continue to be top drawer. Knows his stuff.”
Yeah I still treasure him naming his dark 3yo horse for the season, Battleground.

May 8, 2021 at 18:25 #1540129“Rishi’s not known as “The Omaha Kid” for nothing”.
He was the guest host of “Luck on Sunday” on RTV last week, when Luck was over in Kentucky.
At one point, when Rishi was talking to Steve Mellish about the future of betting shops, he claimed he had been knocked back in a shop when he wanted £25 each way on a 9/2 chance and was only allowed £10 each way.
With his tipping record, if I had been the shop manager I would have asked him if he wanted to make it £50 each way.

Another example of how low bookmakers have stooped.
May 8, 2021 at 18:57 #1540133In my day they used to be called turf accounts ….. now they’re just run by no risk general accountants
Glad to hear ITV were using Ken …. he’s a very good paddock observer, one of the best
May 8, 2021 at 19:27 #1540139What’s the point of having an each way bet on a horse as short as 9/2, why not £50 to win ?
May 9, 2021 at 09:22 #1540161Save as much of your stake as you can, maybe there was hot favourite.

I don’t know if it’s the pandemic but I’m losing interest fast in watching racing as a whole. I don’t know if it’s the ITV team prattling on for 3 hours or so.
When I go racing, I enjoy the day, enjoy the atmosphere I don’t need anyone commentating telling me this and that. Yes there are fountains of knowledge out there, but where do you stop.
It’s like football horse racing does need the ‘fans’, the atmosphere, these are more important than a host of commentators, ITV seemed to have created a big luvvie team looking after themselves on a huge payroll. They even had Lucy Verasamy at the beginning providing the forecast for the afternoon. I can see that ploy was to try and attract non racing fans perhaps but having 12 people there at a time on occasions it’s just one big hurrah. Jobs for the ‘boys’.
If you flood enough people on a programme, it must be good or they think so!May 9, 2021 at 09:48 #1540164I didn’t even watch ITV Racing yesterday – I watched all the racing via various betting sites on my iPhone on mute.
BLISS.
I honestly don’t know what the fuss is about.
We are all supposed to be eternally grateful for terrestrial racing coverage.
Well, sorry, but I’m not.
I don’t care about “growing the sport,” and I don’t want my ear drums assaulted by a load of idiots who know less than anyone with even average knowledge on a racing and betting forum.
Ruby Walsh is direct and incisive but tbh if you have followed the game 40 years plus there is literally no one in the racing media worth listening to, with the notable exception of my old friend Eddie Fremantle who is at least a genuine professional punter with his own wholly independent take on everything.
But he is far too intelligent and independently-minded to be employed by that shower at ITV.
Here endeth the Sunday rant!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 9, 2021 at 10:58 #1540172Eddie Fremantle does not really appear that much on RTV now. He is underused, especially when compared to some of their other pundits. He used to drink in my local when I lived in London!
May 9, 2021 at 11:10 #1540174Eddie is a top bloke.
I first met him on a train to Ludlow in 1986, when it turned out we were both travelling up from London to back the same horse.
Eddie actually alludes to it in an interview with that equally-excellent chap, Simon Nott: https://www.professionalgamblers.co.uk/2020/10/professional-gamblers-who-is-eddie-shoe.html?m=1
Eddie is the one and only person I will switch the mute button off for.
VERY knowledgeable and excellent dry sense of humour, which tbh probably flies straight over the heads of most of the racing media, like a particularly vicious leg cutter from a world-class fast bowler to a Sunday League No 11 batsman.

I remember him being on the train to the now defunct Folkestone, alighting at Westenhanger which adjoined the course. When he turned up on the platform after racing, someone asked him how he had done and he mimed throwing himself onto the line!
