Gemma Collins isn’t on the show for 60 year old has-beens like us lot in here. She’s on the show for the many young women who quite like her. Collins reminds her of themselves and their friends.
And there she is telling everyone that betting can be understood even by someone like her, and even she can win at the races and have a great time. And there you are, past-it and moaning that the sport is dying.
Either you want younger people to get into the sport, or you don’t. make your minds up. if you want young people to enjoy racing, then you have to accept that not every minute of a four-hour show on racing is going to be aimed at you, an old man, and that some part of the show will be aimed at a younger audience.
Newsflash: Thirty-year-old women (and their boyfriends) are not going to get into the sport by wanting more of John Francome moaning about the starts and that the game isn’t as good as it was when they were in it. They are going to get into it seeing that Collins is showing them that it is a great day out.
Who cares whether she can tip. That’s not her job.
