Just wait for the Dettori adulation now he has won the Ebor.

September 9, 2023 at 16:37 #1662384Richard Hoiles commentary
3.35 Haydock🎙Last time he ran Hoiles called Shouldvebeenaring
Shouldvebeenairing (like the washing)
Today he called it right but then he spoilt it and called my selection

So annoying when they made such a fuss over the pronunciation of Chaldean (Kaldean) recently…Perhaps he spilt his coffee on his racecard but more likely seems like Hoiles commentaries are full of Holes. ..JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 9, 2023 at 16:48 #1662387Hoiles has always been a vastly overrated commentator. Quite why he’s always there or thereabouts in the annual awards voting on this forum is beyond me. 🤷♂️
September 9, 2023 at 18:26 #1662402I’m not voting him in this year Glads that was particularly annoying and also I’ve had one or two horses gather themselves up and go on to win after he’s called them as ‘being pushed along’

September 16, 2023 at 19:10 #1663338Interesting bits this week with the knowledgeable and lovely Adele doing her horsey bits. Didn’t care what she was doing to be honest just her voice makes me interested.

September 16, 2023 at 19:27 #1663344I wasn’t convinced by Adele at first but she’s definitely developed into one of the best ITV presenters, albeit possibly flattered by being matched against Cumani, who is getting worse (from a low baseline). I find some of her “horsey bits” quite interesting but generally find her obsession with tack a bit weird. Daresay it ticks a few boxes on ITV’s remit to appeal to “alternative” audiences though, particularly since they can’t talk of the “whip” any more!
September 16, 2023 at 19:35 #1663346I agree she can get overly descriptive with the tack. Must admit I didn’t take to her initially but she has become my favourite along with Ruby who I didn’t particularly like as a jockey and Kevin Blake.

September 16, 2023 at 19:42 #1663347Agree RTB. Hope none are dropped to incorporate Dettori’s inevitably doomed broadcasting career.
September 16, 2023 at 19:43 #1663348Blake is a very good pundit and was excellent when taking on the animal rights brigade in the aftermath of the Grand National.
His involvement in the Racing League is less impressive. He is obviously an intelligent fellow and he must know it is an absolute dud.
September 16, 2023 at 19:49 #1663350True CAS. Reckon, as an ambassador for the sport, he thinks he ought to support any efforts, regardless of how deluded, in the hope something worthwhile will come out of it (and good prize money attracting decent fields and free to air TV coverage of smaller courses are all positives, even if the overall concept is rubbish).
September 16, 2023 at 20:14 #1663357Firstly, I must confess to being a committed Anti-Monarchist.
So, today’s coverage of the St Leger was unwatchable once Charles Windsor and his former mistress arrived to watch his horse run (that we pay the training fees for). The amount of sycophancy, especially from Chamberlain, was beyond belief and I found myself muting the coverage between races.
I normally give ITV the benefit of the doubt on their coverage as they have that fine line of catering to the casual and serious viewers, but this was unwatchable. -
