There is so much to like as a punter and a racing enthusiast – Sunday meetings at Sha Tin are increasingly popular in Australia.
Not really an avenue for "action punters" as such, but finding winners is extremely satisfying. IMO it’s because the competitiveness of race riding, training and even ownership, guarantees a horse will run on its merit – and if it doesn’t the Jockey Club will investigate for an explanation.
You’re rarely stabbing in the dark when analysing the form.
The mounting yard coverage (led by Jenny Chapman on the ground) is exceptional. Although she does talk too much about appearance when we’re wanting to know details that could affect the fundamentals of a horse, it’s still very enlightening.
Plenty of action on the HK tote as well, and the local punters are very intuitive people.
Looking forward to the new season.
