How could Hayley possibly lack the ‘stamina’ for long distances?
I can’t believe I’m asking this question!
January 23, 2009 at 15:14 #206020Show me a race over one and a half miles that she’s won. Why is there a marked deterioration in her SR over long distances. I doubt her ability deteriorates over a long distance, so what other factor can explain this statistical fact, Salson?
January 23, 2009 at 15:44 #206023Ken,
I think there may well be other reasons such as the quality of horses, or even mere coincidence.
To say a jockey doesn’t have the stamina for longer races is just bizarre, and has no logic attached to it.
January 23, 2009 at 15:59 #206027or maybe she had the painters in on those days…
January 23, 2009 at 16:00 #206028Wriggle Wriggle…..Salse.
If you cannot come up with an explanation, please don’t insult me by saying my theory is bizzare. Perhaps you need to think about physical realities before getting on your high horse. Notice you’re not knocking the other stats. When you throw coincidence into the equation then you really are in the land of make believe and cockoo clocks. Coincidence has no scientific basis.January 23, 2009 at 16:02 #206030Show me a race over one and a half miles that she’s won.
Stayers Handicap in the Shergar Cup at Ascot aboard Gee Dee Nen.

January 23, 2009 at 16:10 #206032hoho….nice one rob… she must have been on a good day Ken.
January 23, 2009 at 16:10 #206033Wasn’t her ride on The Betchworth Kid at Doncaster acknowleged to be one of the better efforts of the season?
January 23, 2009 at 16:11 #206034One race. Big deal. I could have won that one doing handstands and with one tied behind my back.
Next win please….
One, in how many months, years???January 23, 2009 at 16:11 #206035Ken,
I hate to be blunt, but I’m not sure are you of sound mind … jockey’s are not assessed in terms of their ‘stamina’, that is horses. There is no such concept as ‘stamina’ when assessing the relative merits of a jockey.
I find your argument utterly bizarre
January 23, 2009 at 16:14 #206037Sal – to an extent you are right….BUT….there are "stronger" jocks that you;d rather have on a 2m flat race (Crowley for example)

One, in how many months, years???Yes I suppose you are right, I mean let’s face it she only beat a bunch of wet behind the ears apprentices in that one didn’t she?
We look forward to seeing your trick riding taking you to victory in the major staying races next season. Handstands and one hand behind the back might make things difficult in the Chester Cup though…….

January 23, 2009 at 16:17 #206040The problem is Salse, that you don’t seem capable of taking your own advice (see yesterday). This thread was a new member asking for an opinion about Hayley. It’s my opinion that she does not possess the stamina to be as successful over long distances as she is over shorter.
You are now getting personal ("sound mind") and doing yourself a grave injustice. As a senior member you set a fine example.January 23, 2009 at 16:17 #206041Ken has a point. All women are scientifically proven to think about shoe shopping every two and a half minutes; given that it takes more than this time to run a twelve furlong race, it is obvious that Hayley must become fatally distracted during these affairs, with disastrous results. There are also no less that eleven shoes shops in Greater Yarmouth so her poor little head must be spinning when riding there.
January 23, 2009 at 16:20 #206042Checking the Racing Post database, Hayley Turner’s record in 13f+ races over the past five seasons is 16 out of 164, which is respectable and certainly comparable with her record at other distances. In 2008 she had 8 winners from 59 rides which at 14% makes 13f+ her best distance, with a level stake profit of 16 points. Seems we’re on a nice little earner there!
