Nathan he aint quick enough for 2 miles no more.
October 26, 2020 at 12:27 #1507405If they a hard pace Cheltenham festival gallop it would suit him no problem imo although connections seem to prefer further at the moment it could all change between now and March
Blackbeard to conquer the World
November 2, 2020 at 15:18 #1508361I’m not a fan of Santini’s intended prep for this. Cotswold Chase, on usual heavy ground, usually destroys Cheltenham prospects. Got very lucky with the weather last year. Boring, but I can’t look beyond Al Boum Photo at present.
November 9, 2020 at 13:25 #1510182Topofthegame out for the season, according to the Post.
November 11, 2020 at 17:50 #1510390Willie Mullins mentions in his ‘Five to Follow’ Sporting Life interview that Carefully Selected could be an outsider for this and encourages nibbles at the early prices. Seems quite a bold comment by his standards. The horse would have to improve considerably from his Novice Chase effort last year but Native River is an obvious example of a horse than was beaten in that race but went on to win the big one.
November 11, 2020 at 17:58 #1510392I would have to see some evidence that he can jump a fence.
December 5, 2020 at 14:50 #1513150Sorry Santini is way to slow to win a GC , even if not 100% that’s miles off GC form
December 5, 2020 at 14:51 #1513152Even although he got beat I was pleased enough with Santini there
he was terrible on reappearance last year and Aintree would not have suited him hereBlackbeard to conquer the World
December 5, 2020 at 14:52 #1513153Aintree aint Cheltenham. Im not too concerned. His 1st run last season wasn’t GC form either.
December 5, 2020 at 14:54 #1513155Nathan he coulndt outstay a good handicapper , he was getting niggled throughout the race , he hasn’t the pace , even Mick Fitz talked about this before the race ( I mentioned it in this thread a while back ) I’ll take the old boy out of the race , missing all those fences didn’t help and he,ll come on a lot more for the run
December 5, 2020 at 14:56 #1513156Mike/Nathan they,ll kick away from him between the 3 to 2nd and 2nd to last , did last year and the same will happen this year , u just can’t make a horse faster
December 5, 2020 at 14:58 #1513157Hes a boat
December 5, 2020 at 14:58 #1513159Once he wins the Cotswold Chase this race will be a distant memory.
December 5, 2020 at 15:01 #1513161Same as last year though he was clearly not fully fit and Henderson said he needs a lot to get him fit
I agree he does lack decent pace but his runs at Cheltenham are very good, only just got touched in RSA, beat Bristol Di Mai in the January before going very close to winning the Gold Cup.Blackbeard to conquer the World
December 5, 2020 at 15:02 #1513162FF a tug pulling a big boat …. Anyone remember just so …he makes just so look like a champion chase contender … Listen I’m sure he will come on for the run but u can’t make him quicker , to win a GC u need tactical speed , a good jumper and a horse that stays up the hill …he lacks one of these in fast amounts
December 5, 2020 at 15:04 #1513163They went slow from the start last year
if they go quicker this year from the start they won’t have the kick themselves to go too far clear 2 out and Santini’s stamina will be there at the end.
Perhaps they will go slow again from the start but Santini was still close enough last year even if getting outpacedBlackbeard to conquer the World
December 5, 2020 at 15:04 #1513164Nathan why will he reverse the form ?
