Not happy. With confirmed front-runner Kaffie a non-runner pace was funereal. Jockey giving his rivals lengths at the start and then allowing Ruby first run in a sprint for home. Cappa Bleu a Grand National and JLT (Cheltenham) entry, wasn’t given as hard a race as the first two. Even so came through with every chance at the last. Mistake there didn’t help. Jumped well otherwise and still have great hopes for him. Like many Nicholls horses on the day, The Minak disappointed.3:00 Ascot

Medermit improved and could give Gord another big ante-post win in the Ryanair. Although will have to do so again to beat the winner here, Riverside Theatre. Thought the Henderson horse might be rusty, but not a bit of it. The one they have to beat at Cheltenham. 7/1 after the race long gone. Kauto Stone pulled hard and shouldn’t be written off, particularly as Nicholls was briefly out of form. Possibly the Champion Chase might be his best chance.3:20 Haydock

Got tremendous value, but as Reet would say, “no good if it doesn’t win”. Don’t often back so many Nicholls horses, but chose a day where he’s briefly out of form. In truth though, even at his best Celestial Halo wouldn’t have beaten the seemingly back to form winner.Days Stakes 193, Days Return 196, Days Profit 3 points. A Profit!

Une Artiste 4th seemed to have been looked after a bit too well, but suppose it’s “pocket talk”. Not that he’d have been in the first two. My fault, shouldn’t have backed one having its third run shortly after its second. With possibly other targets ahead.3:05 Kempton

Arrgh! Consigliere one place out of the medals in 4th, and the win bet one place off the win. With former such a dodgepot (may be it’s hindsight but) may be should’ve concentrated on the 7/1 shot each way. Some may think Moore went for home too soon. Rather give Brennan credit. Nacarat can idle and his rider seemed to allow Hector first run.Days Stakes 82, Days Return 0, Days Deficit -82 points.
