November 23, 2010 at 12:27 #329403Great post Jon, like you I’m a massive Frankel fan, lets hope he does train on, for what’s it’s worth I think he will but only time will tell.
I’ll enjoy the jumps season but more than anything I’m wishing the winter away so we can see this fella in action again next Spring.
For me his win at Ascot and particularly his move from last to first around the bend coming into the home straight was the highlight of the racing year.
November 23, 2010 at 15:01 #329423I thought your post was fine Jonibake. Ignore the eyeball … it appears to have conjunctivitis

Frankel is probably the best 2YO I’ve seen and I believe he’ll be even better in 2011. Exciting times indeed!
November 23, 2010 at 18:25 #329454Good post, even better horse.
November 23, 2010 at 22:57 #329511thanks for your support guys especially my fellow TV widower Oldjohn! Oneeye can you cut and paste a sentence out of these words? – people nice be to old git miserable

November 23, 2010 at 23:27 #329523Great post
I hope he does go on to be a superstar but anything can happen over the winter. I wouldn’t be in a rush to back him for the Guineas at the price either

I now have a fourth reason to wish to see Frankel train on:
1. Everybody loves a champion;
2. I’ve been a Cecil fan since 1980, when I first got into racing;
3. My 33-1 ante-post voucher for the Derby;
4. I don’t want to see Jonibake become an embittered wreck in his old age.
Excellent article, sir; your obvious passion for the sport clearly shines through.
November 24, 2010 at 21:34 #329693Old john – me no aim slur against old john. Me aim slur against man with ONEEYE. Me only attack man that attack me! Yquem21 – thanks! Lets hope HRAC gets that deserved knighthood this new year hey?!

February 11, 2011 at 18:59 #17492From Henry Cecil’s website:
“So far, Frankel is pleasing me. He has grown, seems to have matured mentally and settled down.”
Frankel has this year been joined by his brother at Warren Place and the initial signs are all positive.
Cecil said: “We have Frankel’s full brother who is a more forward two-year-old, physically, than him and very likeable.”
I wonder if TAPK is still as confident that he will be a flop this year? Looks like there is another waiting in the wings for him to write off as well! More forward than Frankel!!! <!– s:D –>

TAPK thinks Dream Ahead is a better horse….guy’s bonkers!

That’s very good news, I’ve never seen a more taking 2 year old and if he has improved gawd help the rest.
Unlike Timeform I would rate him 12lbs ahead of Dream Ahead and would take evens about that being the case by the end of the season
That might seem a crazy thing to say but that Dream Ahead is one of the most overrated horses I have seen in yonks. The real danger if there is one could come from Wootten Bassett who’s to mind is by far the next best horse we saw last season.
Anyone heard any news direct from Richard Fahey on how he has wintered? …….I have a few friends involved in jump racing in the Malton area but they all have stars in their eyes and think he’s the second coming which hardly helps.

His brother is more physically forward?
I can only presume he’s related to Lou Ferrigno.
February 11, 2011 at 21:21 #339948William Hill are offering 7/4 Frankel with a run to win the Derby!
Anyone who takes that needs help! And yes i still believe he will be beaten in the Guineas and yes i thinkDream Ahead
will be the better 3yo! Fist you have admitted in the past you haven"t a clue about ratings and your 12lb quote only confirms it!

Some people were on Frankel for the Derby at 16/1 after his Maiden win, 7/4 now is a joke price.

But surely he would only run in the Derby if he won the Guineas in a canter? He’ll only run if HRAC thinks he’ll stay. Then the 7-4 might not look so bad. I would say it’s 3-1 on that he won’t run anyway.
As for your Guineas prediction, I think you made your bed back in August and have stubbornly stuck to it since despite all evidence to the contrary. Can’t wait to see you finally eat your words on April 30th!
Dream Ahead the better 3 year old?!! Dream on my friend.It’s the "matured mentally and settled down" line that has me chomping. By how far would he have won if he had settled in the Dewhurst?
