Great post Fist, didn’t know you had this sort of contribution in you and has raised my impression of you.
Do you think that this is Kauto Star’s hardest set of King George opposition ever? can’t remember him facing such a market steamer in the last 4 outings, you got Long Run back on a flat course, Forpaddytheplastere a seriously class horse, Riverside Theatre excellent times around Kempton, Albertas Run a class horse on his day, Planet of Sound…. amazing, if he beats this lot then he is the greatest modern day NH horse.
If I could predict the outcome, I imagine the journalist saying "Kauto Star came there with every chance, maybe 2-3 years ago he would of found more to win but it was a great race, take nothing away from the runner up Kauto Star he’s been one of the all time greats"
Just who’s going to beat him!…..

Sincerley hope nothing beats him.
His hardest set? It may well turn out that way but Forpaddys, River Theatre and The Nightingale would all need to get the trip plus it would have to bring massive improvement out in them all which is highly unlikley.
I certainly wouldn’t put Long Run in the same class as Imperial Commander or Exotic dancer as he hasn’t achieved 1/10th of what they have in the UK. Nacarat has been here before as has Alberta’s and Planet of Sound is what he is.
I’d say it’s the most interesting set he’s faced.
His toughest race was 2007/2008 but you’d never have guessed it. AP went into that race thinking he had a fair chance of upsetting Kauto on Exotic Dancer. The horse was the fittest he’d ever been in his life and AP came out of it shellshocked saying nothing would have beaten him that day. If ever there was a race where Arkle would have struggled at level weights to beat a horse it was Kauto Star that day…….would love to see him come even close to that performance today he’ll raise the roof if he does.

Ever since it came out that Get Me Out of Here would not go over fences I knew exactly what plan was likely to be. Unlike my arch rival and frind TAPK I wouldn’t have touched him with a bargepole for the Ladbroke. I had gone for Mille Chief in that and I doubt if he would have been beaten. Such is life the race was lost and we’ll never know.
Get me out of Here was being prepared for an easy couple of Novice chases not for a campaign on competitive handicap hurdles.
It doesn’t take much working out which race he should be aimed at and if there’s one thing that turns JP mCManus on it’s landing a gamble. No horse has landed the double since Rosyth for Capt Ryan Price the man who invented touches. JP I’m sure would love to emulate him.
Newbury suits Get Me out of Here right down to the ground and I reckon he’ll be gambled off the boards and land a right touch for JP. You can never be certain where Jonjo and JP are concerned as they are not in the habit of sharing family secrets
but if he has him spot on and I haven’t heard aniyone say he isn’t I can’t see him being beaten. More weight this time yes but he carries it well and is good enough, no doubting that.Grab the 14/1 now and ouble him with Don’t Push It for the Grand national as and watch history repeat itself.

Disappointed to see A Media Luz come down at the 2nd last when looking certain to be involved in the finish. Whether she would have beaten Kazzene or not we’ll never know.
The most interesting thing about this race is the fact AP rode the winner a horse who was entered against Local Hero but was withdrawn to run in what looked more competitive race. The value of the race wasn’t enough to justfy the move and you have to wonder of AP told David Pipe he’d be wasting his time or he simpply wanted to ride both…the way he has spoken about Local Hero it wouldn’t surprse me if it was the former so I’m having another few quid on for Cheltenham.

Watching Kauto Star today can only be desribes as sad. On the bright side the race for the Christman Hurdle went exactly as I predicted. It’s a buzz when you back a winner but when the race goes exactly how you thought it would and one of your favourite hiorses involved it so much sweeter.
Certainly made up for the losses on Palace Gate. The prices available on the machine today were unreal and no shortage of people looking to lay him. Mind you once Nicky Henderson started kicking in the winners the price dropped like a stone. There is of course the chance that JP landed anice touch. Nicky Henderson usually dooeshis own talking biut for some reason it was his assistant who spoke out and put the doubt in people’s minds. Part of the plan? who knows!
As pleasing as it was 5/2 fav with some bookies is way too short but no complaints from me as I intend to back Hurricane Fly again. I’ve been touting Binocular so long I feel I know him well enough to realise there’s a chink in his armour adn Haurricane Fly has the ammunition to espose his one weakness.
AP said he was kncoked out by his last performance and looked like he could puick them yup at anytime he likes.
That’s the woryy the Henderson team have. If Hurricane Fly can go with Binocular when AP kicks at the top of the hill then the troubles begin.
A race I was looking forward to today was seeing how Chablais got on. He won and as expected Spirit River drifted 10 points on the exchanges.
So I had a few quid more on Spitit River for the Supreme.

The next big race on the agenda is the Irish Hennessy Gold Cup.
I love this horse to bits and not just because he won me a nice little nest egg in the Lexus.

For me all this talk about needs testing conditions at Cheltenham is incorrect. This is just one very very good horse and given any cut in the ground (G/s) at the Festival he’ll win the Gold Cup. Cheltenham is testing enough to bring stamina into play in any Gold cup and the course will take care of his needs.
Half of those entered in the IHGC won’t turn up and 6/4 is an abolute steal. He’ll be odds on on the day make no mistake about that.
I took all the 20’s and 16’s but being a good guy I’ve left the 14/1 for you guys. Those who don’t at least back him ew will look back and say why didn’t I listen

As far as I can make out Steve Gollings is under no doubts about his plans for Local Hero. On AP’s recommendation He will run at Cheltenham to see if he is good enough to run in the TRIUMPH33/1
It would appear the bookies think he won’t be and is more likely to end up running in the Neptune 16/1.
Just a reminder…….They’re wrong!

I was just discussing the fact 2 horses had come out of his race the other day with a friend this morning and he said I’m wrong there have been 3 he thinks Richard lees had a horse entered that also ran for the hills and won.
Not that it matters, but when something special is about it does tend to spread like wildfire. If this horse was trained by PN he’d be near fav right now for the Triumph make no mistake about that. If you think I’m wrong have a look at the price of Kazzene who won yesterday but was pulled out of Local Hero’s race. The best thing is no way was he going to beat A Media Luz when I watch it again he struggled to beat the horse she was hacking all over when she came down. The name Pipe is what the punters are latching onto not the horse IMO.
If Local hero does win his trial there’s a small fortune to be made just laying the horse back so I’m in again at 33/1 in bits and bobs and bits to try and get a bit of decent cash on at as big a price as possible while the going good.

Would be wrong of me to think I was the first to spot Nicky Hendersons’ Finnian’s Rainbow but I might be the first to suggest he will win Next Year’s King George.
He runs on Wednesday and I wouldn’t miss it for all the tea in China. He’s an abolute joy to watch.
He wasn’t exactly foot perfect at Newbury clouting the 3th and the 8th but some of his jumping was as perfect as it gets. Nicky shouldn’t have much trouble smoothing the edsges as he’s a well balanced individual and he was smart enough to put himself right at a fence on the far side in the Newbury Race.
I think I read a post a while back where someone said they had backed him at 100/1 for next years Gold Cup and i laughed but to be honest I had only glanced at his runs over hurdles and knew very little about him at the time.
While his run at Newbury was only a 3 runner affair he made Hells Bay look positively slow something anyone who backed Medermit last time found out to their cost is not the case.
It wasn’t so much how far he beat him it was how easily he did it. He could have won by a fence to be honest…There can be no doubting he’s top class.
He’s currently 6/1 for the Arkle which I think he’ll win despite it being a bit on the short side for him. As far as 3 miles goes next year it shouldn’t be aproblem as Nicky was toying with the idea of running him in the world hurdle at one time I’m told..
If I’m to be proved right about the King George he’llhave to be winning at Cheltenham I suppose.
NH already has a strong hand for next years KG but this horse to me looks as if he could be a huge star and outdo them all.
Can’t wait to see him on Wednesday despite the facy he’ll probably be 1/3.

Looks like he’ll start at 10/1 on rather than 3/1 on Shockingly bad turn out with only 3 going to post.
On the bright side the horse they say can kick binny into touch runs in the first Titan De Sarti which should shake up the Ante Post Market when he hacks up doing handstands.
May be a shade of odds on but could be a bit of evens around.PN’s is bound to attract some money early doors but I doubt if it will be sustained unless he’s some sort of superstar.
Has to be a slight worry he’ll get up to his antics again but Nicky Is brilliant at sorting this type of horse out.
He’s a huge talent and gets a nap vote from me and is a must to back today.

Very expensive day Titan De Sarti simply isn’t doing on the course what he is showing at home.
Finian’s Rainbow made one novicy mistake but what a joy to watch.
Tail of The Bank managed to rub some salt in my wounds when I backed him for a place

Potentially anther good day for Nicky Henderson on the cards. I’m currently scouting around to get the best price I can for him to take top spot in the Championship this year. Crazy? Perhaps! but he’s never had better ammunition with Aigle Do’r, Binocular, Finnina’s Rainbow, Spirit Son, Granduet A Media Luz, Long Run, Agean Dawn, Bob’s Worth and probably 1/2 dozen more still to hit the headlines all heading for the festival. Paul Nichol’s reign may be coming to an end.
Another interesting entry at Cheltenham is Mad Max for the Grand Annual 14/1.
He runs today and for the 3rd time this season from 3 runs he’s playing 2nd fiddle to a better fancied stable companion.
Obviously it would take a near miracle today but I doubt if that is the object of the exercise. Nicky Henderson has always held him in high regard but due to a wind problem he has never quite reached his full potential. However last season he seemed to be over it after a 3rd operation and destroyed Somersby and the Nightingale at Aintree in a canter. He said a while back he had no intentions of rushing him and that still seems to be the case.
Dropping him back to 2 miles is a typical Henderson move to sharpen him up before the festival and you can bet the next time he runs (Hopefully in the Grand Annual)he won’t be playing 2nd fiddle to anything let alone a stable companion. One to watch….this is one very good horse.

Your man Jarvis doesn’t often miss when he sends and improving horse to an a/w track.
Medaille D’or pinged the stalls at Kempton and settled well but didn’t look too happy going right handed nor was he knocked about. A real eyecatcher for the future I can’t see him being beaten today.
If there’s a serious danger in this race it’s well hidden, they look a real bad lot.
Medaille D’or (Nap) was available at 6/4 and 11/8 now the best is 5/4 which is still too big IMO.
