You can write what you like as far as I’m concerned, GT, but it would have saved a lot of stress on the TRF servers if you’d simply said you disagree with the criticism of Dettori.

Value Is EverythingJune 3, 2022 at 21:41 #1600327Light hearted way of expressing the reaction you provoked.
And “provoked” is the word – “Grandstand jockeys” is insulting tbh so you deserved (and maybe even wanted) everything you got in response.
I happen to agree that Dettori was unfairly criticised, but there are ways of going about saying and writing things.

The horse slipped out of the stalls meant that Plan A of being handy went out of the window. Plan B was ride her held up as a closer instead.
If Frankie had gone hard to get a handy position after the bad start she would’ve had a lot less in the tank at the end of the race.

Value Is EverythingJune 3, 2022 at 22:05 #1600335Doubt if Dettori will ever read any of it tbh.
Well, you evidently irked a few here, but if making that observation is making a mountain out of a molehill, fair enough.
As stated, I do agree that, given it wasn’t his fault she stumbled coming out of the stalls, I don’t think Dettori did much wrong.

Value Is EverythingJune 3, 2022 at 22:27 #1600337Had Emily Upjohn won, we would have been reading it was ride of the year at TRF awards evening
such was the fine margins Dettori had the horse ahead a yard before the line and a yard after the line but ended up losing. Not the jockeys fault imo that the horse stumbled at the start. Emily is still inexperience and showed signs of greenness when asked to finish. Think her trainer and potential to improve is why she is favourite for the Arc. I like her but think think a long straight galloping course would be more her thing than the turning bends in FranceBlackbeard to conquer the World
June 3, 2022 at 22:32 #1600340Mike and Ian I never said it was his fault the horse slipped though
That’s just one of those things
It was him sitting motionless thinking he had the race won whilst Ryan was busy winning the race asking Tuesday for her effort and gaining the ground that Emily Upjohn was unable to make up (if she was an Arc horse I believe she’d have won anyway)
Those handful of strides/seconds was the difference between victory and defeat
The difference between a good ride and a bad ride
She was unlucky to lose either way really as it just happened that Tuesdays head was fully down and Emily Upjohns fully back on the stride that they hit the line together
But that’s just racing, people who backed Emily Upjohn will back plenty of Tuesdays it’ll even out in the long run
June 3, 2022 at 22:37 #1600341It is, for sure, a game of fine margins, Nathan.
Fair enough, FF91, it’s a game of opinions as we so often all say.

June 3, 2022 at 22:55 #1600354“…Describing a perfectly good ride as “awful and “shocker” is “provoking” and “insulting”.
Got what it deserved imo.”Bit rich from the man who absolutely slated Ed walker (and the thought process of several forum members, who were in the end a bit unfortunate not to collect on 4th) for daring to think his horse was a bit of value at 66s compared to with the moonlight who she’d beaten twice
A tad more “provoking” and “insulting” than me thinking a jockey gave a horse a bad ride by any measure lol

June 4, 2022 at 00:30 #1600377The slow early pace meant the runner up didnt expend that much effort in catching up. The race was won when tuesday swept a length or two ahead a couple of furlongs out. Frankie possible gave his mount too much to do. Not a great ride imho and ryan felt he should have won easier. Too many looking for something that didnt happen. Id say its 50/50 who wins the rematch if it happens.

Spot on Mike
After Emily slipped coming out of the stalls Frankie had no other option.
Also he lost a bit of momentum looking down at her feet and just for a moment I thought he might pull her up.Tuesday is as tough as they come and she fought hard for that victory but Frankie did all he could on Emily I’ve no criticism of his ride.
Disappointed she lost the photo but glad she came home sound and will have another chance to prove herself. JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 4, 2022 at 00:40 #1600380I don’t back on trainers, or tipsters comments. My comments are
