Concert Hall @ 16/1
Started off in the same maiden as Snowfall last year and like most of the stables past winners of this had a busy campaign running six times, taking in the well used path of Debutante, Moyglare and Fillies Mile races.
As a few other people on the 1000 Guineas thread pointed out she was extremely eyecatching in the Moyglare to finish fourth. Then won the Weld Stakes which Imagine and Qualify also won before being beaten just 4 lengths in the Fillies Mile again looking like a step up in trip would suit.
Very encouraging with this race in mind to see her starting off over 10 furlongs on Saturday at Navan in a decent looking race. Could easily fit an Oaks trial in after this run and not the end of the world if beaten on her first run back. Would certainly be catastrophic if she was beaten out of sight though.
April 21, 2022 at 13:55 #1595014I’ve taken 33/1 Mise En Scene, staying on fourth to Inspiral in the Fillies Mile, and 10/1 Tuesday, which is highly unusual for me as I hate backing Maiden winners for Classics, but the Oaks often goes to something with an OR of around 115 and she’s won at a mile with a pedigree that screams middle distances to me.

April 21, 2022 at 20:06 #1595068Tuesday is an absolutely horrendous price
Anyone taking 4/1 on her after winning a maiden needs their head checking
Anything below 10/1 is just poor value to me
April 21, 2022 at 20:29 #1595070I admit I thought twice before taking 10/1 about a Maiden winner – I wouldn’t do it for any other Classic tbh as I think there aren’t that many top-class 3yo fillies and there are even fewer top-class 3yo fillies with 1m4f pedigrees.
I prefer pattern form and ORs in excess of 100 before getting involved usually.

Time only slightly slower than the colt Westover who was carrying 6lb less.
8/1 for the Oaks now.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 22, 2022 at 17:33 #1595234Was a very good performance considering she was carrying a penalty
April 22, 2022 at 17:39 #1595237She certainly looked impressive and the time was very respectable but it’s the age-old question: what did she beat? 🤔
Definitely looking forward to seeing her in one of the trials, though.
April 22, 2022 at 20:55 #1595270Actually, the 78-rated winner of the last was quicker so the filly’s time wasn’t all that, really.
Still a nice prospect, though, but with no time to back it up like Gladiateur says: “what did she beat?”

April 23, 2022 at 20:04 #1595438Emily beat what was probably a nice field. A lot of well bred top stable stuff there and I think this race has a record too (might be wrong)
8s is a definite good price
May 1, 2022 at 19:26 #1596579Tuesday and With The Moonlight have both run good Oaks trials today IMO.

Why is WTM still 9/1?
Value Is EverythingMay 1, 2022 at 20:00 #1596591Because the form is crap ginge?
The second got beat in a class 5 novice at Wolverhampton the time before
That would have to temper enthusiasm
I do like the look of her breeding, by Frankel out of a dubawi mare is about as good as it gets
Much like Emily upjohn next time will tell us much more
May 1, 2022 at 20:17 #1596594Buick said that the WTM race fell apart and that she might get a half and a mile. So form possibly iffy and 12f not certain.
May 1, 2022 at 21:01 #1596603If the form is “crap” what time would you expect a good horse to do, FF?
Two fastest races at Newmarket today:With The Moonlight 0.077 seconds per furlong slower than standard despite what seemed slowish early fractiions.
Cachet 0.069 seconds per furlong slower than standard.
That is a time that would not be done by a “crap” filly.
The second is lightly raced and obviously improved. Mashaaer isn’t top class but she was beaten very easily.Value Is EverythingMay 1, 2022 at 21:48 #1596608It’s crap form on paper ginge as I said we will know more next time
9/1 doesn’t look overly generous to me for what she’s achieved though I’d say that about all the horses in the market
Something notable about both the 1000 and 2000 guineas was that the antepost markets were absolute robbery on almost all of the fancied runners
The prices on antepost markets these days is so poor you are almost forced to back horses before they run
The 40s she was pre race would like great now but I definitely don’t think anything single figures is worth taking
