With The Moonlight clocked a decent time in the Pretty Polly and my interpretation of it puts her on 113 and 115 is good enough to win an average Oaks.

Her pedigree has an alarming amount of speed on the dam’s side, but she could be a bit of a Golden Horn: not bred to stay 1m4f, but races as if she will.

She wasn’t exactly stopping at the end of the Pretty Polly.

Just looked through the Chester trial tomorrow and seen this Above The Curve who’s 12/1 for the Oaks, she looked very impressive last time beating what was probably a strong field, can see her winning pretty easily tomorrow and getting halved in price at least.

I think 12/1 for a Maiden winner is shocking.

Tuesday, Emily Upjohn and With The Moonlight are my current idea of the 1-2-3 in the Oaks.

I don’t mind that it was a maiden, purely because given the horses that ran in it make it look an above average one. I always respect those irish maidens with the big trainers (flat and jumps) a lot more than any british ones. She quickened away from that field like a good one.

Emily Upjohn would be the one I’d fear most, Frankie seemed very happy with the performance and he knows a thing or two about the quality of these oaks trial winners.

Tuesday has only won a maiden, Chezza.

I’ll be honest I completely forgot about With The Moonlight, remember watching that one the other day was very impressive, looked through the form though and not sure she beat a whole lot and she did look to be going pretty much full throttle, like you said Ian the time was decent though so it might not matter.

Agree totally with Ben that Above the curve was mighty impressive last time, she had the Bolger filly behind that Tuesday beat when she won her maiden.

Mind you, she is fair sized girl and the trainer expressed doubts about her being an Epsom filly and maybe an Irish oaks one in time. Things could well of changed since then like

“Tuesday has only won a maiden, Chezza.”

Err, she’s since been placed in the 1,000 Guineas.

“Tuesday has only won a maiden, Chezza”.

    ————————–

    Au contraire, Glad.
    Not “only” a maiden winner.

Takes a lot better form to be third in a Guineas than it does to win a maiden…

Where as Above The Curve’s best form is currently a maiden win.

The link with the Bolger filly is also very tenuous Botchy, Tuesday having improved significantly since that maiden victory. So Above The Curve has also got to make that significant improvement just to reach Tuesday’s current level of form. Plus you’ve got Tuesday’s running style and breeding which (together) suggest she’ll make further progression at a mile and a half.

My main concern with Above The Curve today would be the track going by Josephs comments. If he feels she is more of a Curragh filly then today should be an interesting fact finder for them.

Hopefully she gets beat today or wins unimressively and heads straight to the Curragh in a way. We will see today.

Thanks for that insight Bothcy, hadn’t seen Joseph saying that, she did look a touch green when she hit the front when winning her maiden. Can’t see anything troubling her today which might give younger Aiden something to think about, but probably best left for the Oaks can’t be taking 12/1 about a horse that isn’t sure to run.

Tuesday also a June filly so bound to get stronger. Everything screams mile and a half filly and she’s catching up with fillies a few months older than her. Aiden to me currently has the two horses most likely to win at epsom. Let’s see what Chester and York bring. Season really starts for me at Chester. Was heading there but in between jobs so couldn’t. Definitely next year. Take in an Everton game on the Saturday after. Sorted.

Well I just spent most of the Cheshire Oaks wondering just how far and how easily Above The Curve was going to win because, even when the tempo quickened, they couldn’t get her off the bridle and she sauntered up to challenge.

But she didn’t go past a game Thoughts Of June, who has reversed form with her.

They came right away from the rest, but what did they beat?

Third-placed Typewriter had an OR of 79 going into the race.

Still Tuesday for me as Ballydoyle No 1 for the Oaks.

Above The Curve not a stable companion of the winner as far as i am aware.

Above The Curve appeared to me either didn’t stay or didn’t act on the track. Either way, not good regarding Epsom. winner will be a good pacemaker for Tuesday and With The Moonlight.

    I stand corrected, Mike.

Anyway, the four lengths third has an OR of 79 and the six and a half lengths fourth has an OR of 80.

Let’s be generous and rate the race through the fourth – Thoughts Of June OR 91 and Above The Curve 90.

They may get higher, but if they do it’s not justified for me.

The time is nothing special either.
