Good news for Mogul, what are the English trials we have then? Is it Lingfield Derby trial and then something at kempton on AW isn’t it? Those races are 12 max? How will that get decided? Will be some horses wanting a run that might not I guess? Will Al Aasy be one of those horses perhaps?
Bobby, not dismissing MM, he might very well be a good horse just unsure about the Guineas and Derby. I’m very intrigued to see how he does next weekend also, for sure if he’s 3rd or 4th he’ll come crashing in for the derby!
May 26, 2020 at 20:23 #1488961The Edward VII stakes and ribblesdale stakes are going to be derby and oaks trials this season
May 26, 2020 at 21:01 #1488964Could be right I guess, or even the Hampton Court Stakes actually
May 26, 2020 at 21:08 #1488965It says on the ascot website in the article talking about the 2020 festival that they are derby and oaks trials

May 26, 2020 at 21:52 #1488966Oh yeah you’re right. I dunno if that is just Ascot trying it big up the races a bit though, probably is this year but I guess it doesn’t really matter. I would think though a trainer will only run if they don’t have another choice and are desperate for a run. Not ideal to go 12f under 3 weeks before which is why they might consider the HC Stakes as only a day later.
In any case you think of all the horses that will need a run before the derby and there’s loads and not enough places surely anyway. How does it get decided? Have they said? On rating?
May 29, 2020 at 08:16 #1489038Mogul 10-1
May 29, 2020 at 09:02 #1489041One at a big price (50/1)is Arthurs Kingdom looks certain to stay and Aiden O’Brien might bring his usual army over for the race
May 29, 2020 at 10:31 #1489043Innisfree has had a setback. On the easy list for at least a fortnight.
May 31, 2020 at 16:55 #1489199I hope Gosden is still aiming Waldkönig at this one
Not getting a prep race wouldn’t be a problem, as this is quite normal for JG’s horsesMay 31, 2020 at 20:29 #1489211Waldkonig was super impressive on his debut Hein, could be something special. There is a quote somewhere from connections about his action though, he’s unlikely to handle Epsom on fast ground i would think. For me he’s definitely one to note when the conditions are spot on but Epsom? Not for me.
May 31, 2020 at 21:25 #1489213Several people are with you on that Frenchy!
Apart from his “knee action” and the ground etc I would at least confirm that Epson is a frickin’ unfair track
Before the wolves will be howling here :
Our leading track Baden Baden is also quite unfair..May 31, 2020 at 22:18 #1489214I wouldn’t call it unfair though Hein, for me the derby is the true test , you need speed, stamina, balance, tactical speed, you need everything to be a derby winner that’s why it’s so great!
June 2, 2020 at 02:40 #1489358Al Suhail 8/1 for the Newmarket Stakes 1m 2f on Saturday. Very unlikely runner? This price is enormous!
June 2, 2020 at 07:14 #1489360CA confirmed him for the Guineas already in quotes
June 2, 2020 at 10:59 #1489368Hopefully Waldkönig will run in this Newmarket race, any quotes from JG ?
June 2, 2020 at 11:45 #1489372yeah apparently it’s confirmed Hein and so is Al Aasy! Mouthwatering little early season possibly pre derby clash that!
June 3, 2020 at 07:56 #1489449I’m puting this one up as he runs today in the Classic Trial Stakes at Kempton.
I’m hoping that Hypothetical is as good as I think he is. He couldn’t have
been any more impressive on his debut at Chelmsford. Travelled well and
quickened in the style of a really good horse. I’ve lumped on at 33/1 and
if he lives up to my expectations today, and with the Gosden/Dettori factor,
that will be more than halved. -
