No chance he was a pacemaker hein, he done the same thing in a maiden last week, im not saying i backed him or would have, im just saying, he definitely was not a pacemaker, he adopted this run style last week and would not stop

From the angle I saw ham, looked like frankie was giving him an easy time

I’d have to watch the full replay again as I was watching my bet mogul not frankie

I don’t think the result is a fluke though. Sure, he got a freeby. However, I think time will show this horse is proper group 1. He was powerfully eye-catching last week against exposed but useful horses.

He would have been much shorter if he hadn’t run a week ago which looked liked a crazy prep race.

Also, I wouldn’t blame the chasers. They were outsiders and why should they make themselves sacrificial lambs for those behind them. They probably got the best positions possible.

Delighted to see Marquands horse run well.

FF 3f out frankie was already throwing the sink at EK, he did close well, but he could not pass 2nd and 3rd, looked all over a leger run for me.

But you are right in the sense that 1f-1 1/2 out he definitely eased off him slightly, so possibly could have got placed, but i cant see him winning that atall even sitting closer to that pace

For me the winner is by far and away the best of those at that distance

Kameko a shoe in over 10f and 8f, did extremely well for a miler

Jockeys behind 4th and back though should be pulled in regardless

Lovely long striding horse looked like he was really enjoying himself.

Haven’t seen an easier winner since Slip Anchor..it was all over shortly after they broke from the stalls and they let him get away.

What a sire Galileo is. Jac

AOB said they rode Serpentine like he was a stayer and jockey said he’s a 14f horse that kept going.

Dettori had no business easing off him. It is the Derby. There is plenty of prize money for the places and many punters will have been on each way with four places. He should have at least got one of those.

Pleased for Emmet McNamara. He went agonisingly close at the Curragh last week. He could have been forgiven for thinking his chance had gone yet one week later he wins the Derby!

I only seen it once but as a backer I didn’t see him easing off EK. Another 100 yards he would’ve got into the placings but it wasnt to be.

Just seen a time analysis. Serpentine ran the last 3 furlongs in 36.07 seconds with an 8 length lead. They would have had to run the last 3 furlongs in sub 35 seconds – an impossibility.

The winner may well have been the best but the clock tells you the other jockeys gave themselves no chance.

This was yet another frustrating renewal, I could weep at what it’s become.

I hope that Serpentine can prove me wrong, and I hope that he becomes a superstar.

Well done to Sir Harry Lewis and Mickeyjp for finding him.

They’ve had to send a search party out for my selection, Worthily.

Serpentine’s chasers all ended up in a heap which doesn’t offer much encouragement as they were all on the limit for the last three furlongs. The winner looked one that will get stronger as he steps up in trip, and Aidan O’Brien’s comments back that up.

Note to self – Revert to normal mode of letting the Derby pass.
